    What you're seeing in this test are the different harmonics of 3 systems. Each will tune differently for optimal results and the real work is in finding stable cutting conditions for each, then maximizing the material removal rate.
    Weldon is fine for roughing and lower speed operation. For most people, working with

    @3dtechdraw Thanks for sharing, I didn't expect the weldon to do so.

      Mohamed Abdel Moniem Weldon holders are very underrated, or talked down upon while they’re are still a very good option. They’re pretty slim, don’t allow for much pulout, modern ones have good runout stats and are very affordable.

    Also, EXCELENT Video for anybody watching.. when you are done watching clips fly make sure you go to the end to see the results. Laurens, if you do another cut I would start the video with 15 seconds of chips flying, they have all the results, then the 12 mins of RAW footage. Just a thought. Again, great info, thanks for sharing!

      Thanks. We are still getting into the video making, so learning with each comment.

    Good work!!! We also have rich experience in sheet metal fab, we are a strong manufacturer in China, with high quality and competitive price.

    Just hit that resonate frequency with the Weldon it didn't like. Tweaking Rpm and feed could remove that easily. I always thought Weldon were meh but looking into it they perform wonderfully.

      Very true. Maybe I didn't stress it enough in the video or description but for myself this test was there to prove any holder can be made to fail if you want to. So all the video's you find online by manufacturers mean someone just has the feeds and speeds tweaked to get their wanted outcome. But that said I find myself in a position where I need to tweak the feeds and speed more often with the weldon than with the other two.

    If only the weldon holder was a short gage length. (I know you didnt have one) I bet that wouldve made a huge difference. Awesome apples to apples test. I think I'll save hydraulics for finishing only.

    An engineer in our company swears that the Weldon is best option for certain operations.

    The Centro P also locks the Weldon flat in.

      No, they can but only if you use SecurGrip collets and inserts. They're not cheap but make ER style holders a very versatile system, no matter if Centro or regular.

    Why didn’t you use the shortest gage length for the Weldon? Those other tool holders are longer because they need to be. The Weldon can be a ton shorter and that makes a big difference in these tests. Almost seems like the Weldon had longer gage length.

    • @3DTechDrawCulemborg
      @3DTechDrawCulemborg  7 лет назад +1

      I did because I wanted to compare the BT40 big plus versions of each tool. Where I couldn't get my hands on a big plus weldon shorter than that at that time. Same for the Centro-P, that could be shorter as well if I didn't want the Big Plus version. Might need to do a new video with a shrink holder as well.

    you cant compare a short Centro-P with a adaptive Weldon (adaptive cause its a Weldon mounted on a HSK to Capto adapter) if its HSK (im not sure)
    this is 50mm or more longer so...

    • @3DTechDrawCulemborg
      @3DTechDrawCulemborg  6 лет назад +1

      To be exact the difference is 20mm. While I agree it's not the perfect test I wanted to test all three big plus holders. And I didn't have a shorter Big plus Weldon. In the best case scenario, you would test all three holders in their shortest possible configuration and in equal length configurations. Sadly I don't have all those in the shop.
      PS. As you can see in the first bit of the video when loading the tools this is on a BT spindle.

    You need to do an American version that has the values in Inches :-)

      Just convert it. The value is 25.4.
      As for this video, it's very biased. Quite frankly, the weldon style actually seemed to outperform the high dollar CoroCrap.

    • @3DTechDrawCulemborg
      @3DTechDrawCulemborg  7 лет назад +1

      And how is it biased in the way I said the Weldon did very well if you compare them on price? But it definitely didn't work at all in one test, so you can't say it was better. Part of what I wanted to show as well is that you can make any holder fail if you want it to. So yes in a lot of cases the Weldon would work great for roughing. Though not always on tool life. As for you it seems you are pretty biased against the CoroChuck. What caused that?
