Mini Excavator Auger attachment plate.

- Hey guys, Well the torch is slowly being passed. My son is taking the lead on this one. He is still a little inexperienced but is making good headway. Todays project consists of making an attachment plate for a mini excavator. The customer is going to use this for attaching a hydraulic run auger motor.
He (customer) will weld the lower eyelet or attachment point. Our job is to weld the ears onto the main plate. I figured it was a good opportunity for my son to practice his stick welding skills since this part will not take too much stress or heavy load.
Also, I've been getting some questions regarding where I got my Welding hood headbands. Here is a link to my buddy's etsy page. Give him a look. They're really comfortable. www.etsy.com/shop/weldermadeh....
Thanks again for the continued support. Keep warm out there. This is gonna be a cold weekend. 12/22/22. So kick back on your recliner and enjoy . Развлечения
Not only is your son learning but the rest of us are, too. Thanks so much !
Hearing your father say good job is a life long confidence booster. 🤙🏿💯👨🏾🏭
It’s funny to hear kids talk and use the same phrases as their parents. At least he’s paying attention to what you say. Good job, both of you.
Nice to hear a proud father letting his son know how good he did
No kidding! Well said.
Well, he's good indeed.
This video literally made me cry. I remember my dad teaching me, and the hours and hours we spent together. He's gone now, having passed a few years ago. And I still miss him. Every single day. This is the essence of fatherhood on camera here, and it's sorely lacking so often today. My love to you both.
It’s nice to see your son so willing to learn. You did a great job raising that young man. You should be proud .
I am!
Feeling his frustration when he got stuck over and over again on that corner... Just gotta keep going. :-) Excellent video.
He dresses like you, he talks like you, pretty soon he'll weld like you, Isaac. That nut isn't rolling far from the tree! 😄
Good job, and great video. 👍
Old Man. 😅😂🤣
The young man is a natural with the camera. I would enjoy seeing him have more opportunities like this. Both of you men are what our country and this world need desperately. Thanks for sharing with us.
Great job, young man. Glad to see your dad letting you work along side him. He's a great teacher, very patient. Just think, in twenty or thirty years, you can be showing "the old man" how it's done!
The ABCs of welding.. thats one thing. To have a good teacher to show you how to weld and maintain the product with minimal distortion is priceless. That's where you make your money.
My Dad taught me how to weld when I was 13. Now, 50 years later... I'm forever grateful. (.. he turned 90 two months ago.)👍🙂
I remember my first welding with my dad, Was 9 Years old making a bolt with threaded rod and welding a nut on it. 17 years later, I'm welding at a stone quarry on everything from building chutes, crushers, loaders buckets, excavator buckets and excavator booms from 3 ton up to 90 tonne machines. When I welded that first time I never thought I would ever get good enough and trusted enough to weld on that type of things. Keep up the good work!
Ditto man. Keep safe!
This is so cool, watching a master transfer his knowledge to his son, no less, is very satisfying. Thanks!
Old school mentoring, that is where real craftsmanship comes from. Both teacher and student are lucky to have each other. I hope Isaac's son can make a career out of this skill as successfully as his dad has.
Well done. As a stick welder myself, I know what your son is going through. The finesse of setting an arc takes practice. Remember, you can always change the angle of your rod after the arc is started. If it's easier to start your arc straight on, then do so. Then, set your angle as soon as the arc starts. I also have to remind myself EVERY time I weld to SLOW DOWN. Great teacher, great student.
Absolutely LOVE this video! This is how I learned 40+ years ago…
I never looked back… Great job teaching Pop!!! Patience is key👌🏻
Me too. That ole 7018 is sure stickey.
@@roberttolliver5430 yep I remember when I was learning every other strike they would stick. Then the twisting and pulling would break the flux off the end and make it worse. Ah those were the fun times back then.
Your son might not realize it today but he will look back and thank you for everything you taught him. I got my dad and grandpa to thank for the knowledge I have today and that combined with what my mother taught me made me the man I am today.
“Stick weld they said, it will be fun they said” 😂😂 I did my very first stick weld attempt in metal shop back in 1977. I remember sticking the first rod and pulling the bench a few feet trying to break free, it also seemed like if you stick one you stick many.
I have also never had a weld look as good as Isacs son did, I now know why he has a better teacher. He may not fully know it but what an amazing time they are sharing.
The Old Man - LOL !! That is a badge of honor it takes a life time to earn! Good job young man! Hopefully you are fortunate enough to join the "Old Mans" club & be called the by your kids when you are teaching them! We all called our dads that I think.
Nice to see dad and son working together. You obviously did something right raising your son. I burned my first electrode when I was 12. I’m now 59 and still burning electrodes/wire. Your videos are great instructional videos to help young welders. Keep up the good work.
I am a carpenter by trade and I've been welding for over 40 years and that's the first time I've heard that, that's why they call it stick welding😂😂👍
I found myself cheering at the screen when your son got the arc going again cleanly after all those attempts.
That was so helpful. I'm a novice welder and hearing you explain things to your son really helped me too. Thank you so much!
At least he knows how to read a tape, not many youngsters do that anymore. Love the sound of that ol 200 firing up. I still have mine bought new in 68.😁
Very cool…..glad the old man is giving us a lesson also. Now a bit of Spanish thrown in and we all get two lessons for the price of one. Nice weld kid.
Excellent way to pass on family tradition and values. He will be a master craftsman before long.
Your son doesn't realize how fortunate he is to have a seasoned professional show him the ins and outs and all the little things that you and I don't have to think about that no one will ever find in a book
I hope the son sticks with it and runs his own business someday. Only way to be truly happy is working for yourself. Skills are huge, welding is an art. Respect and merry Christmas to the IC weld family.
"Sticks" with it
Your son is blessed to have you teaching him.
Your son speaks like you. People say I sound like my dad too. You are a good mentor and father and it shows in his eloquent confident introduction. Good job icjr.
At least he has someone with a high skill level teaching him and allowing him to develop skill
LOL "Old Man" Hey Gramps! glad to see Jr doing his thing. Having your experience by his side will sure speed things along for him. Merry Xmas

Lol ole man, handing the gavel to the yunster! Good going… first to like Icweld
Thanks for being a good example to all us Fathers, I respect how you teach & treat your son, We can learn alot from you. Welding is not easy.
This world needs more fathers like you.
Can not top "that is why they call it stick welding"! I can't count how many times I stuck rod when someone was watching me, or it was a critical last minute repair.
I agree with all the other comments about how well your son responds to your instruction, and how well you instruct. This was one of your best videos yet. Thanks again and keep 'em coming.
Not bad for the son of an "Old Man" almost spit out my drink! He is just like my kid! Terms of endearment!
Burning rods are the only way to learn welding. Thanks for the great video. Happy Holidays
Jr. is going to carry the torch a long way, great to see, well done guys!
Good job JR your a lucky kid, you've got a great mentor. It's good to see you taking advantage of it. I can tell you feel the immense pressure of your fathers perfection, just remember you can't make a diamond without pressure. It will pay off.
Imagine doing some stick welding with one of the best welders and it being filmed for all time on youtube, good job Jr IC welds.
I remember my "old man" teaching me stick...brings me back...thanks fellas...
Rite of Passage for all new stick welders. Great Video!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great to see the son getting started in the business!
Your son is lucky he has a hell of a teacher.
You guys are going to make a great father-son team.Nice job both of you!
"That's why you call it stick welding" 😄. Great job, master and apprentice 👍
“That’s why they call it STICK welding!” Loved the patience.
Teaching him the ABC's of welding - Always Be Comfortable.
Your boy seems patient and that's the key to doing what we do well.
He is very patient.
I do enjoy the father and son collaborations you put out......well done
Young man, you did a fantastic job! and on the narrating of this video as well!
Your son getting a education on welding from a very good teacher.
I wish my dad woulda been this patient with me😂😂. For being new to stick welding he’s not bad at all.
You are an Awesome Dad, I can hear the confidence in his Voice. Well done father and son job.
Your learner two things at the same time welding and video making. You both are great good job!
No pressure!! Half the world watching, customer job not a practice piece. 😋
Good work
Thanks young man for allowing us to see your learning process. Stay close to your father.
Start em young! Awesome seeing your boy learn from you.(old man)😂…. Nothing is more satisfying then showing your children skills you have learned
You are taking me back to the days when I started welding
old man huh, lov seeing u teach ur son and him willing to learn. lov ur work.
So awesome to see a much needed craft being passed on the next generation of craftsman!
You got to do a video working with your son?! That’s fantastic!! What a great thing to be able to do. Thank you for letting us all share in it with you.
Wow " old man " 😂😂 he is a good kid for sure and he is doing great for sure !! I lost my dad in 1994 when I was 22 . I tried to learn all I could from him while he was here . Keep teaching him you are a excellent teacher he is doing very well . Enjoy all the time that you can spend together you will never forget theses days. Great video as always and nice circles on those pins !! 👍👍
That remindes me of myself back in 1966 when I was 17, and learning how ro weld in a shipyard. It is frustrating at first, but after a few pounds of rods, and an old welder skeptic guiding me It didn't take long to become a good welder. Your son is doing just fine. It must be in the genes. LOL
I feel like i just got a free stick welding intro class, great video guys!
Nice to see a trade being passed onto the next generation..... Merry Christmas to both of you!
I do love the sound of an SA200 reving up!
Father and son working together is priceless, your son welds looking awesome. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Teaching the next generation real manly skills. Skills this young man will never forget and will always remember while the appreciation grows over time. Good works old man, I mean dad! 😅
It is wonderful to see a father teaching his son so patiently and respectfully. Thanks.
Lucky kid...got himself a great teacher
The best teacher has the best student! ❤
Love seeing a father pass his trade on to his son
You have a great teacher
I also can't wait to see what the future holds
Great video
Glad to see your son involved/ a
That is how my son grey up. After taking over my small business he turned it into a million dollar business through hard work !
It’s easy to remember when I was new. It can be frustrating when we can’t get the arc to start. Practice Practice Practice. Thats the key.
You are learning from the best and you are doing pretty good. Patients and persistence will pay off well. Dry runs are necessary on most every weld . Keep up the good work and patients with the "old man" he once was in the shoes you are now wearing and look how good he is doing. Stay safe, Fred.
"Lets get to it" I heard that in your father's voice, awesome!
It's intimidating to do something new when an expert is watching you. I think it keeps a lot of people from trying to learn a new skill. Nice job to both of you.
What a great effort. It would be early but my dad would say, that's great and then look in the yellow pages for someone to teach me. You know you've done a great job raising a child when you have to teach them to spray paint.
" Old man, or Pops" whatever you wish to call him, you are fortunate to have such an experienced and patient Dad as an instructor. You are doing rather well, and this process requires a lot of practice. You see now why it's called ' stick welding',..... well not really, but you get the idea.
I look forward to watching you do more of this.
Good to see your son following in your foot steps, he has a heck of a legacy to up hold . I wish him all the best.
My “ old man “. To funny. That boy sounds just like you pops when he talks. Love that old gas welder. Welded with one many times.
Learning how to weld off of an engine drive is a skill all in itself. I ran lots of rods off of a transformer machine in the shop before starting on an engine drive. I must have stuck a half a box of rods my first time!
It is nice to see the family working together for your son keep up the great work.
I love seeing everyone get along and have fun with family and friends so glad to see.
Sincerely!
R.S.V.
It's good you showed him to work symmetrical, much easier than learning the hard way, like using the draw to your advantage when possible
No one can teach as good as his patient dad! Ha, 7018 isn't the best to learn on. Years ago we had some backhoe mods for my company. It took two guys, one for welding and one to turn up the amps for arc and turn it down for welding.
Thanks for teaching to us hobbyists as well!
Now at least I know why it's called "stick welding"...
🤣👍👍👍
Y’all talk the same !!! I wish I heard my pops when he was alive ! Great welder
I could have had someone like you coaching me as you are doing with your son. I see you teaching him technics that I never knew existed. Makes me want to get my Everlast tig/stick machine and try again.
Great job!! Proud and knowledgeable Father and smart son willing to learn. A great combination!!
Very nice to see dad and son, that is a gift .
"That's why they call it stick welding." hahaha, great quote. That soooo reminds me of my initial struggles at stick welding. I was fine once I got an arc going, but man, it took a while to not stick it every time.
Sounds just like his dad! Amazing father son experiences for sure!!
Been watching since classic work recommended you and love you guys. Great to work with your son. He will really value these times
He did a good job… i like you teaching your son… its a good trade
Nice to see the "Ole Man" teaching his son a great trade.
He’s definitely your son, same mannerisms, same confident easy going attitude…as the “old man”. 😎 Your son is a talented young man, good job dad.
Stick weld they said, it'll be fun they said. Personally, I enjoy stick more now because I don't weld for money anymore. Looking good, kid. Enjoy this time with your Pops.
I wish I had a tutor like you 50 odd years ago when I first started stick welding. I am now 78 years old and trying to master tig welding, restoring a 1.5mm aluminium car panel and failing miserably. I've got a lot to learn as well, wish him well, he is a boy to be proud of.
