NEW YEAR NEW START GAME 2 - Skipping

It’s Tricks Tuesday so we’re skipping into Tuesday with a fun trick! 🪄
Why play?
Skipping is a brilliant trick to teach dogs who find joy in bouncing and jumping. It’s great for boosting optimism and confidence and for building your relationship and teamwork. It’s also quite a workout - for you and your dog!
* Really Important *
This trick isn’t suitable for every dog. Make sure your dog is fit and healthy and free of any injuries that would make it inappropriate. It’s not one for growing puppies and you may decide it’s not for you if your dog is already a little too Tigger (although putting jumping on cue can be a great way to tame the bounce!). Making sure your dog is warmed up and is jumping safely with good form is really important too.
What you need
✅ Food or toy rewards
✅ Non-slip surface (grass, astro-turf, non-slip matting)
✅ Target mat
✅ Skipping rope

This is a trick with quite a few key foundations which it will be important to work on first. Don’t worry if you and your dog are still working on the foundation layers of this one. The most important thing is to have fun and get those key skills in place before you level up. ⬆️

How do you get the dog who doesn't jump up to jump up? My dog will politely wait for food or toy to be thrown, rather than try to 'meet' it mid air. 😂
