    Spectacular! I can't wait to see more. I've always been intrigued by the kyudo way of archery. Very good

    If one has a warm love for Traditional Archery, shooting. I find the lines of the Japanese Yumi can quite easily grow onto one...
    There shall be a Yumi in my future!
    Please, make more videos/ talks of your Traditional Yumi learning. Your video has much beauty..

      Thank you. These are special bows indeed.

    Thank you for sharing this. I just got my Yumi Bow few days ago. I needed this to know how to string it. Did you get the wooden bows yet? If so, what kind are they? Would you recommend them. Thank you again for this short and very useful demonstration.

      Good to hear this helped you out. Wooden bows...or arrows? Yes, I've had arrows for a good while already - although not wooden but bamboo, and they work and look beautiful. It's been a thrill to shoot with Yumi and I'm picking up proper form bit by bit.

      @Anthony Maurice Yes they were. War bows need to be strong, especially in battle with armored enemy. War Yumi draw weights varied from 70 lbs up to even 180 lbs.

    I love the way this language sounds. Is this Finnish or any other language? Sami? Sami is Finno-Ugric too, right?

    Hey, any chance of a follow up video of you practicing with the Yumi bow?

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  4 года назад +1

      Yes, I'd like come up with some Yumi shooting videos. It's just that I still feel so very novice shooting with Yumi, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to show how I'm proceeding.

      Are you using a yugake or just shooting barehanded?

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  4 года назад +1

      Barehand, but been thinking of fashioning myself sort of a morogake, full five-finger glove.

    If you want could you shoot normal arrows with this bow?

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  6 лет назад +1

      Yes but it would not bring out the characteristics of the bow and technique. However, I have some wooden arrows which are close to the desired length for the Japanese shooting style. The draw is long, around 35 inches for me. But I gladly wait for the arrows specifically made for the strength and draw length of this bow as awfully wrongly spined ones might not shoot properly even with a good technique.

    Kyodo jousi on ainoa jousi jolla osuin helposti....muilla jousilla en osuisi edes norsuun✨🐘✨....eli olen suomen huonoin jousiampuja✨🥴✨...Olin porvoossa 1983 vuonna saksalaisen Felix Hoff kyodo kurssilla , rento tyyppi , hyvä opettaja ...joskus 25-vuotta sitten tein tammesta hevosenjalkajänteillä päällystetyn kyodo jousen , oli liian löysä joten lyhensin kummastakin päästä , 190 tai 200 cm pituuteen ...en enään muista tarkkaan , mutta toimi hyvin vähän lyhkäsempänäkin ....kyodossa kannattaa jättää pois se höpsö zen juttu...ampuu vaan rennosti sen kummempia miettimättä ja hyvin sujuu✨🧸✨

      :) Kiitos näistä tuumailuista. Tuo on erityisen mielenkiintoista että tekaisit myös oman jousen, vaikkakaan tuo rakenne ei varsinaisesti seuraa japanilaista jousiperinnettä.

      @@UgriArcher bambujouset ovat vaarassa haljeta talvella kun meidän ilma on liian kuivaa...eli perinteisesti jousi tehdään ilmaston mukaan...ei japanin mukaan ✨🧸✨

      @@mustamuri Lähinnä tuo jänteellä päällystäminen sattui silmään. Enemmän tai vähemmän puutahan noissa eri aikakausi japanilaisissa jousissakin on käytetty. Bambulaminaattien lisänä, tai myös pelkkänä ytimenä.
      Tietysti kaikki ääriolosuhteet, niin liian kuiva kuin liian kuuma tai kosteakin, vaikuttavat kaikkiin luonnonmateriaaleista tehtyihin jousiin. Sitä varten on erilaisia ratkaisuja keksitty eri kulttuureissa. Japanilaisissa jousissa urushikäsittely auttaa juurikin suojaamaan vaihtelevilta olosuhteilta. Oma take-yumi, ihan ilman urushia, on kestänyt kyllä hyvin hyvin talviammuntaa ulkonakin jos sitä huoltaa ja säilyttää oikein.
