It's 😔 you try sometimes and just feels like no matter what, you get the sh*t end of the stick. You just have to be thankful for what you have and what you can do. Suicide always makes me feel dirty and sad someone would go that far to give up life. You only have 1, make the best and don't let the negative sh*t hold you back from what you are capable of. I pray for his family, loved ones and fans, Amen.

What a piece of work, this woman 😢 no pity for cruel and unusual punishment, shud be ashamed😢

Nearly had me in tears at the end. I remember seeing Awesome at “The Night The Line Was Crossed” when I got it from a tape trader in England in 94, I was 18. He was such a monster and did things no other big guys did. It was great following his career but he never did seem to get a lengthy run with the level of success he deserved. He should have been up there with Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader.

It truly was a sad ending to Mike's life because more often than not, we hear of some form of drugs being involved in a wrestler's premature death, but as Mike was clean, to end his life due to his marriage breakdown is heart-breaking to his children who were both young at that time. If only Mike could have reached out to a close friend about his marriage breakdown for some comfort and to be told he is much loved, this could have been the catalyst for him to rebuild his life and continue to see his children grow and possibly find love again, but the option of suicide always seems to be the one taken.

It’s almost always much deeper than that. It wasn’t just the divorce I’m sure. He was already suffering from depression and his career was floundering which caused money problems as well. The divorce was just the straw that broke the camels back. Rarely is suicide because of just one thing. It’s usually a cumulative effect of some kind. Either way, it’s sad. He came across like a good dude who didn’t get the big money contract he deserved. If he got that nice long contract then he might still be alive today.

During that ECW reunion match Joey styles trashed him the entire time and actually told him to go “Forever sleep“ himself. Sorry, I had to make that RUclips friendly. Really HQ video….. Mike Awesome lived up to his name he’s work in FMW was light years ahead of everyone in North America it’s a real shame he got sucked into the Paul Heyman long con the amount of abuse he took in ECW and got little to no money (As much as i loved ECW as a promotion they were a Mickey mouse territory being lead by a delusional narcissist) In the internet age Paul Heyman is seen as this god of Pro Wrestling which is far from true he’s a typical shady promoter that screwed over countless people! Mike actually outsmarted him and Paul tried to painted this narrative that Mike Awesome screwed over ECW/Fans (i swear that company was more like a cult than anything else) Mike Awesome deserves more attention/respect he brought a new style very few people seen in North America in 1998

If the stats were correct, Mike was 1-2" shorter (6' 7" vs. 6' 8") and roughly 10lbs. lighter 300# vs. 310#) than Hogan. Ever see Hogan move like Mike? Hogan struggled sometimes just to get his leg up for the Big Boot. lol The reason Hogan was so successful isn't because of his in-ring athletic, physical, or wrestling abilities. He knew how to work a crowd, how to work the mike, and knew what the audience wanted. He is truly a larger-than-life character. Mike was just the opposite...all physical traits, few talking abilities. Mike was *SEVERELY* underrated, underappreciated, underpaid, and underutilized. Mike's whole situation was a total and complete train wreck and tragedy that could have and should have been avoided. With the right gimmick and some mike skills, he could have been a huge success in the ring. It just wasn't to be.
Outside of the ring, Mike sounded like he was a genuinely good guy as well as a great father. Great husband? Who knows. But from the sound of it, it sounded like she (the wife) just wanted to bail on him for another dude (or another girl??) because he thought the marriage was in good standing. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Guess we'll never know.
    RIP Mr. Alfonso.

    Mike Awesome was so badass!
The thing I liked about him was his promos...he was good on the mic,his eyes big, yelling and being slightly funny all at the same time.
    R.I.P.🙏🏼

Mike awesome was the most badass wrestler I had ever seen and ECW and WCW WWF/E made him look like a fool if he was still alive to this day I'm pretty sure he will be fit to face Roman Reigns that will be an interesting match

The most athletic Big man to every grace a squared circle. His spots where insane and you still to this day do not see a big guy move like Awesome did in the ring, he had some of the best foot work and placing for a Big man in the business

I've always loved seeing Mike compete in the ring but in the end I only knew the main moments of his career... and didn't know that he had committed suicide! What a sad story. Rest in peace

WWE not knowing how to properly book guys like Mike Awesome and Sean O'Haire was mind blowing to me. Two giants with the ability to move like Cruiserweights. You don't come across that type of talent often...let alone twice in the same year.
They should have been the easiest stars to build up from that whole Invasion storyline.

I remember a wrestling magazine ranking him as the best wrestler at the time. Just tragic that to too many big time promotors, he just became a tool. Wrestling is sometimes like an army that shoots their wounded instead of being there for them when they need support.
