  • This clip is in honor of Pi Day 2018 and my love for Maths!
My Nani (grandma) is solving quadratic equations!!!
Day 1- I spent the evening teaching her how to use the factoring method, when solving for "y". By Day 3- she was busting through each problem very fast!
Maybe next year, we'll recite at least ____ digits of pi together? Haha!
Whenever I am hanging out with my grandmas, I always incorporate some type of mental exercise activity- whether it be, telling me their childhood stories (testing their long-term memory), playing intricate card games, solving math problems, finishing sudoku, yoga, asking them to describe their day/week (testing their short term memory), etc....
With aging comes natural cognitive decline. Mental exercises help the elderly fight against/reduce the risk and onset of age-related neurological problems, such as dementia. These activities help the elderly keep their mind sharp and alert.
