I always thought after I first discovered Yamandu probably 6 years ago through Porro, that his tone was probably a secret sauce or a certain combination of a bit of everything, from guitar type: 7 string guitar, to a specific luthier, to a specific strings type and even a specific tension of these strings that he never changes! It turned out that he gets the same tone from any guitar he picks. If you compare this performance for example to the other performance on the 7 string guitar side-by-side, only then you will see the difference in depth the 7 string adds but other than that, this performance still sounds just as good to me. My teacher's teacher, Roberto Aussel has also got one of the most incredible guitar tones you can hear on a classical guitar in the world but not only that, he can also replicate that personal tone on most guitars he picks, which he says it is something hard to achieve and takes a lot of time and dedication to develop and to be consistent about. My point is that having a good consistent tone that's your own - and not just a beautiful sounding one- is hard to achieve, and only very few ones can achieve that, especially if you can get it on any instrument you pick even if it is not a very fancy one. Most guitarists only focus on getting a nice tone which is good to begin with, but discovering your own sound but on an instrument is something worth to look after.
The skill here is absolutely fantastic. Your playing finds the perfect balance of technique, tone and creativity! I consider myself a pretty good guitarist and I picked up at least 5 wonderful ideas during my first watch of your video. I love the use of muting and full chord vibrato you use and in particular the way you found a darker tone from your instrument at precisely the right points in the composition. Bravo - 💯 Thanks, John Gig Harbor, WA
Benzadeus!!!!
