Hey do you know if you can catch squid any time at night or if there is a certain time that works best. I’m going to try at Catalina for my first time.
You can catch them day or night but much easier at night during the day you will be jigging them up. If your wanting to have a float like this it needs to be night.

How do you find a squid "bed", what do you look for? Where I live on the East Coast we just hang a light anywhere during squid season (water temps around 60deg farenheight?) & hope the squid come. Thanks.
That night the squid came up in minutes. This is not common. First find the squid bed then wait with the light in the water. Most of the time we scoop a few pieces at a time. If u find the right bed this type of float could happen for you.
Two coolers of squid is like one grain of sand at the beach,Trawlers can take 15-20 tons in a night. These guys are smart,the bait dock will charge you 35 bucks for half a scoop which is about 30-40 live squid. I'm sure they fish and will use it up cut or whole while they fish.

sooo many boats that light up & seen from space...just shows squid r over fished....sooo the ppl of Thailand wont have anymore squid left if regulations arnt implace to conserve the squid population....
I point my finger exactly where it should be pointed for the depleted fishing in the USA and that's commercial fishermen and if you can't see it then you blind or a commercial fisherman !!
Ever thought of leaving a few behind for other ppl, or enough for the squid population to regenerate? No, thought so, this is why our fisheries are almost depleted.

2 coolers of squid. I am an avid fisherman. Squid is 5 bucks for 10 pieces. I freeze the squid and fish with it. Its called an investment.
