While I do understand that asking for Snowcat to be made in the GI Joe crossover line would be asking for too much (EVEN WHEN IT WOULD BE THE MOST LOGICAL THING TO DO GOD DAMN IT), I can't believe we've had FIVE uses of the Siege Ironhide mould, two in white no less and not a single one has been Snowcat, it barely even needs retooling at all.
My favorite part of this figure is the windshield, I love how they frosted everything BUT the range of the windshield wiper. Immaculate attention to detail, made my day when I discovered it
Was just about to comment that. I don't have a snappy name for it, but it's one of many lovely instances of, 'Awww, you didn't have to do that, but you did'. :)
I believe that several of the characters in Energon who were upgrades in the show were not initially designed as such. This is why so many of them don't have any obvious design similarities. The creators have confirmed that the dumptruck Demolishor was supposed to be Long Haul, and the same thing is true for Mirage, Roadblock, and this dingus.
Snowcat along with Thundercracker from Cybertron will remain in my memory as some of the wildest characters ever in the franchise. I love them both so much
I wish Hasbro would make more Joe/Cobra vehicles into Transformers. (And I mean, just regular-sized TFs, not the big official Joe crossovers, although I like them too.) I'd even like them to dig into the weird later designs like the BUGG, since it's not like Classified is going to touch those.
I believe the inability to do this sort of thing again (as far back as 2013) was the reason TF boss Aaron Archer decided to quit Hasbro. And he wasn't wrong - Transformers have increasingly become action figures that transform (with an emphasis on articulation and ~cartoon accuracy~), rather than toys that are fun.
"OoOoOoOoOoOo GAVIN," I was just about to say, "What a pity the missile launchers don't do shit in vehicle mode!" And then BAM, Hyper Power Mode! Oh boy did they ever get me!
Ah, now this one gets me in the feelz, son. This is one of two characters my sons held onto and gave to their old man when they were aging out of toys. The other is Energon Prowl. I am old, boy, and my family has supported this G1 nerd’s collecting. Top shelf content, Gavin. Wouldn’t part with this goof save for a laughable amount of $ no one is ever gonna give me! This is one of the reasons I stopped being G1 exclusive!
One thing I'm kind of missing now that we're in the era of "G1 fans get everything they could ever want over and over again" is new alt mode choices without having to be a Collab. At this point it's really unlikely we're getting any kind of crazy ice vehicle or weird choice of animal (from the Beast Wars days) unless it's again, a GI Joe Collab. We don't even have Botbots anymore, come on now.
I remember seeing this on shelves 20 years ago and thinking how wild it was they took the GI Joe Snowcat, and made it a Transformer with the same name. I was also confused as to why it was a Decepticon.
2:04 - looking at this transformation, I'm still shocked to this day that we haven't had a repaint and a head swap of siege Ironhide/Ratchet as Snowcat!
I think I've been blind to the Decepticon badge this whole time, because until you said I've always assumed this toy was an Autobot. Never watched all of the show (who in their right mind has?) so I don't recall the character from that.
My old Snow Cat was absolutely trashed from being played with so much as a kid, so when they announced the Earthrise Ratchet in SG colors, I just popped the head off and stuck it on that as a quick and easy custom. He's gone from skiing to snowboarding!
Considering that this is a snow cat and not a vehicle used by Cobra, it feels like this really should be an Autobot. As if he were Beachcomber's arctic cousin.
Ill always lament Hasbro never retooling the Seige Ironhide into a snowcat homage I suppose it could still happen as they've revived titan masters recently, so I have enough coping to get me by
The GI Joe line could play him off as a Decepticon infiltrator to the Joes, for whatever reason. With the usual A pricepoint, I bet they could do the ski mode just fine, and now that we're kind of over missiles maybe there could be ski poles. Only drawback is that he'd be gigantic, but that's a weird thing to be disappointed about
GI Joe Snow Cat Reference! PERFECT! And I had the Steel Brigade figure! My guy was TOUGH! I based his name on an Italian Mathematician Cavalieri. Yes, I was a geek...wait...still am!
I adore this toy! And I don't care what anyone (including the instructions) say, his skis stay down at all times. If he can ski through space, who even needs regular feet??
As much as I don’t like Energon, I love Snowcat’s design. I really wish that he had gotten a mainline figure in legacy (there’s a great kitbash of him made from Siege Ironhide)
I had this toy long ago, and he was a fun'un. (I kinda miss a lot of the Energon toys I had now.) Now makes me wonder if they'd re-release this toy but as a bigger GI Joe Collab figure. Could be neat!
Was G.I. Joe popular in the UK or anywhere outside the U.S.? I remember the franchise slogan as from ad breaks as "A Real American Hero" and just not catching-on here in Australia, at least among any of my friends.
It wasn't Hasbro who denied you access to those seats. Energon (and the entire Mini-Con Trilogy) was primarily designed by Takara, with Hasbro having a liaison - Aaron Archer - whose kind of infamous for over emphasizing his contributions.
While Scavenger was decepticon in first generation but in Armada turn out be Autobot, what do you think? Scavenger and Red Alert aren't here in Energon after Armada ended despite continuity. Any idea?
If you ever do want to watch more Energon, or UT in general, *please* don't watch the dubs. There's plenty good fansubs of the original shows online, which you should opt for instead - as the dubs suffer from rushed and incomprehensible translations anyway, not to mention unfinished art/animation. Armada also suffers from this heavily. I don't know why TF fans still treat the dubs as the default to this day :/ I actually quite loved the show when I watched it recently; I thought it was a great continuation of Micron Legend/Armada, and surprisingly mature and innovative! But people always look at me crazy, because they think I'm talking about the utter nonsense that was Energon in English.

It's bizarre to think this was the first GI Joe crossover Transformer, and it's one of the Joe vehicles being used by a Decepticon
Snowcat along with Thundercracker from Cybertron will remain in my memory as some of the wildest characters ever in the franchise. I love them both so much
The Unicron Trilogy really was a treasure trove of delightfully weird guys.
Joe Hasbro could give us a snowcat if they remolded the Newly remodeled Heatwave mold
A yodeling battle-cry seems silly, but, after thinking about it, would be absolutely terrifying!

I do not understand the quack timer, but it made me chuckle.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Little old lady.
Little old lady who?
I didn't know you could yodel!
Being compared to Snowcat is the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me. Thanks Gav

It looks like the missing minicon port panel is pegged under the canopy. In robot mode it's like it's stuck under his fat belly
Oh shit maybe!
God DAMN I love the simplicity and chonkiness of Energon toys.
He's like if Hoist threw away all his useful parts and decided to become a prat.

This is so specific. This is one of the few toys I had from this line when I was a kid
I think I've been blind to the Decepticon badge this whole time, because until you said I've always assumed this toy was an Autobot.
Never watched all of the show (who in their right mind has?) so I don't recall the character from that.
Repugnus got zapped!
My old Snow Cat was absolutely trashed from being played with so much as a kid, so when they announced the Earthrise Ratchet in SG colors, I just popped the head off and stuck it on that as a quick and easy custom. He's gone from skiing to snowboarding!
What in heavens was that timer at the upper left?! But true, he does feel like a good guy, hehe
This guy deserves the Generations treatment but since the Legacy line is coming to an End,That'll never happen.
Gavin, fun is overrated. Miserable is where its at these days.
Considering that this is a snow cat and not a vehicle used by Cobra, it feels like this really should be an Autobot. As if he were Beachcomber's arctic cousin.
Honestly, this guy's transformation and vehicle design reminds me a hell of a lot of Siege Ironhide
Snow cat has such a great design
Ill always lament Hasbro never retooling the Seige Ironhide into a snowcat homage
I suppose it could still happen as they've revived titan masters recently, so I have enough coping to get me by
I skipped this era of Transfomers, but there's no denying this fellas charm!
Snowcat is unironically the best character in Energon I’ll die on this hill
The GI Joe line could play him off as a Decepticon infiltrator to the Joes, for whatever reason. With the usual
A pricepoint, I bet they could do the ski mode just fine, and now that we're kind of over missiles maybe there could be ski poles. Only drawback is that he'd be gigantic, but that's a weird thing to be disappointed about
We should have more original TF characters turning into GI Joe vehicles.
My mum got me this guy last Christmas i love him so much
He could totally be a retool of Siege Ironhide if Hasbro weren't mucking about
GI Joe Snow Cat Reference! PERFECT! And I had the Steel Brigade figure! My guy was TOUGH! I based his name on an Italian Mathematician Cavalieri. Yes, I was a geek...wait...still am!

I always figured this was going to be repurposed as a GIJoe vehicle, don't think it ever happened. Otherwise loved this toy for a long time!
I am surprised this guy hasn't had a modern update. Maybe they're just too intimidated by the horrible range of colours on him.
If they don't screw it up, this could be a great new transformers gi joe collab.
I had this toy long ago, and he was a fun'un. (I kinda miss a lot of the Energon toys I had now.) Now makes me wonder if they'd re-release this toy but as a bigger GI Joe Collab figure. Could be neat!
Was this video reuploaded today? Great vid regardless Gavin and happy holidays!
This toy _in both modes_ reminds me of Roger Moore era James Bond.
Was G.I. Joe popular in the UK or anywhere outside the U.S.? I remember the franchise slogan as from ad breaks as "A Real American Hero" and just not catching-on here in Australia, at least among any of my friends.
He literally the gijoe snowcat LOL
When are we getting a gi joe/transformers cross over figure of him? Thats my question.
It wasn't Hasbro who denied you access to those seats. Energon (and the entire Mini-Con Trilogy) was primarily designed by Takara, with Hasbro having a liaison - Aaron Archer - whose kind of infamous for over emphasizing his contributions.
No no no it was Hasbro
I had this toy as a kid but the clear plastic strut for the cannons snapped so he was put in the bin
You made a bit of a rookie error his hands were backwards the entire time in robot mode. I remember getting snow cat via lay-away when I was a kid.
Aw man I wish I'd noticed his hands were backwards at any point during the edit
While Scavenger was decepticon in first generation but in Armada turn out be Autobot, what do you think? Scavenger and Red Alert aren't here in Energon after Armada ended despite continuity. Any idea?
Um, if the treads get covered in skis, and the front wheels get covered in skis, what makes it move aside from gravity?
Nothing. That's how skiis work.
Nah, like you said, he needs poles.
Hope you had a good day

⛷🎿🤪👍
Snowstorm is better than Snowcat (no offense, Don Brown).
