      Derek, Pete and Chloe were not additions. They were there from the start. That is like saying Clark was a great addition. (To me at least. Maybe I am reading this wrong)

      @@donnilloyd1355 I believe they meant they are a great addition to the Superman coming of age storyline. Chloe Sullivan is a completely new character to the Superman mythos created specifically for smallville. And Pete Ross was in the comics, but the comics version is a completely different person, therefore you could say the Smallville Pete Ross is a completely new character as well.

      @@KamenRider1113 That's were I am not understanding. They started the series. Episode 1. Other characters are added to them. To add something, you need a baseline. Pete and Chloe are in the baseline.

I interpreted his statement as Chloe and Pete are great addition to the retelling of the “Superman coming of age” storyline, because Chloe and Pete were not part of that storyline from the start. That’s what Smallville is, a Superman coming of age story.

      I don't remember how deep it was in the series but maybe there just used to bodies falling out of places by that point. :)
      There's a bit in the movie "Clue" where every time they find a body they scream and act scared but they the end they're finding bodies and barely reacting anymore. In that case, being a comedy, they played it for laughs, they had just been finding bodies all night and were numb to it.

    Michael Rosenbaum really is my favorite live action Lex. Heading he could at command just into character makes it that more amazing a performance.

    Oh god, finally we talk about this scene! I made a reddit post in Smallville's subreddit 4 years ago about this scene asking ppl why these KIDS act like they see blue crusty dead bodies falling in front of them every single day.

    I have no idea which episode it was, but at some point, Sam had the line "That's wack!" And it sounded like the most unnatural thing he could possibly say. If he'd started quoting Shakespeare right there on the spot, it would've come off as more plausible than the "That's wack!" did.
    "Wack" wasn't even really commonly used for very long. I think it was probably that overly played Kris Kross song that did the most to kill it off prematurely. But regardless, by the mid-'90s it was more like a joke slang. It was not something that the cool kids said. It was not something that the posers trying to emulate the cool kids said. But I guess the Smallville writers never got that particular memo.

    I had to tell that i Saw Smallville 2 years after this get on tv cause i didn't had tv. I bought the cds since 2011 and before that i Saw many episodes since 2009 by casual times. I never did nothing seeing this. Just was an entertain time. I ever get My Open mouth SO. Since 2011 i bought cds by curiosity. I LOVE see all Smallville cause i was tired working with family and Friends i only was looking for rest. And i see all alone. Years then i show to My family. Worst cause they jock me much. I joy by free but they different. Well now i can't see nothing i don't have nothing for see it and i'm quite cause i'm afraid from God not People. I leave He does all for me. I can't i'm daughter from He. I respect his will

    It is the way he drew out the word Damn. Sam Jones was always great at acting cool and joking around, but he seemed to struggle with emotional scenes. I think if he took lessons to deal with the emotional part he could have had a longer career and roles in other series.

Most complaints were the characters not looking like their comic counterpart based on race and/or color. Compared to today where people complain that a character doesn't look like their comic counterpart because some weird agenda regarding companies being woke, even if the acting skills may be there.
      Basically:
      Before: nooooo! He's not black in the comics! He doesn't even look like him!
      Also before: nooo! That character isn't Hispanic in the comics! He's white on the comics! Oh wait...that actor looks exactly like the character and you can't even tell he's Hispanic. And he still playing the character as a white character. Cool cool. That's what acting is all about.
      Now: noooo! They are only making him black because of their weird agenda on being woke! I know he's a good actor, but still!
      Also now: noooo. He can't play that character! That character is white in the comics. I know the actor looks exactly like the comics, and he's still playing that character as a white character, and you can't even tell the actor is not white...but still! It should be a white actor! Who cares if he can act?!

    Gotta say, Pete was the blandest character on the show. I'm not sure if it was the actor or the writing, but he never felt like he meshed well with the gang. His friendship with Clark always felt forced because, let's face it, Clark was never a FUN friend. He was always mopey and overly serious. Who'd want to be friends with him? lol

      I felt like he got pushed to the side though to highlight Lex and Clarks friendship. They grew up together so he knew him before he got all serious and angsty but him being mopey probably didn't help the friendship, with Pete trying to live the high school dream and Clark just following Lana and ignoring Chloe.
