- Here is a first glimpse from the successful sea trials in Finland when Raven finally spread her wings
The revolutionary superyacht, the first sailing yacht of her size and type to use hydrofoils mounted on adjustable side arms to support a high percentage of her displacement, will be handed over to her owner during October completing a successful two-year build and trials period.

I never thought America’s Cup technology is possible commercially (let alone on a 100+ ft yacht). So glad i was wrong and nothing short than well done to the Baltic Yachts team!
Yes, it's wild it seems as if nearly every sport racing boat being made or redesigned to have some style of foil, the clubswann 36, with a c shaped foil, and the beneteau figaro3 with the permanently fixed foils
Strategic, boat-on-boat racing is incompatible with foils, therefore the AC is incompatible with foils. At the very least a Baltic 111 one-design just obsoleted all the junk in the current Kiwi-AC.
Stunning ship. Can't wait to see what performance figure she puts out
looks like being near to perfection
Certainly sails beautifully wow
MAGNIFICENT!
Baltic , Over the Top, Number One.
The next exciting evolution in sailing going beyond the marks!
Only a matter of time before this becomes a common site.
最高だね 見てるだけで身震いがする
Unbelievable achievement, any plans to make a maxi with imoca60 style curved foils?
sooo...how quick is the raven?
Awesome. Wanting to know about the top speeds she can achieve (average speefs we know are great on decent wind)
Raven already hit the numbers during her test period here in Finland. She is now being transferred to a location which will provide the conditions to take testing, training and performance development to another level. We will have an update on her performance next year.
Looks like Gunboat, Marsaudon and other fast cat companies have some competition!
Can she lift off more or are the foils purely to increase the righting moment of the boat and hence the power?
Foil-assist they're calling it. Not sure what the specifics are though.
It can't completely fly due to the weight. Good foils are not the only thing necessary but flight also requires light weight. This is a cruiser and all the systems and amenities that are missing from a race boat will add a lot to its mass. It's still sufficient that half the hull appears out of the water, which will increase the speed and time saved on a long passage.
😅can the foil double as a boarding plank when tied up at the wharf?😮
What’s the cost involved in making one of these. total costs involved and then market sale value
Simply amazing sailboat. I wonder if it will break 30kts
For sure. Other Baltic yatchs have alresdy gone near to that figure even on much more conventional designs and much more luxurious and less minimalists interiors. Like the sadly ill-fated Baltic 130 My Song (28 knots), Baltic ketch Hetairos (27 knots), Baltic 147 Visione (30 knots), or Baltic 142 Canova (full bluewater cruiser with side deploying DSS foil) of which we don't know top speed but could get up to 25 knots sustained on optimum sea&wind conditions, so her peak speed for sure is above 27 knots.
This Baltic 111 Raven, with this radical design with those foils, much lighter amd more minimalist, even if she is not light enough to go into really full fly mode, if she can average high 20s with relative easy on decent conditions, I would expect a peak speed of around 35 knots. A a side note, and even it is a full Racer monohull, 100' supermaxi Comanche, without any foils, has hit 38 knots several times.
And in the marina?
She has her personal marina I assume. Considering the cost😅
why on earth is the music in sailing videos (almost) always so terrible?
She is not flying? Wings for beauty only?
Baltic 111 Raven is foil-assisted and is the first sailing yacht of her size and type to use hydrofoils mounted on adjustable side arms to support a high percentage of her displacement, you can read more about the project on our website here www.balticyachts.fi/2023/09/27/baltic-111-raven-reaches-sustained-speeds-in-high-twenties-as-successful-trials-are-completed-in-finland/
@@Baltic72 Thank you for your answer. Does foils increase the perfomance ( I mean main sail square plus in %)? Looks like plus from less " displacement" was eaten by foil breaking moment. Anyway, she looks great and very expensive
@@rtechex5372 The foils increase the performance, during the sea trials in Finalnd she sustained speeds in high twenties :)
Not seeing a hell of a lot of lift, she's pretty heavy i guess
How does she go upwind? Or do gentlemen not do that, haha
When society collapses, this is the 21st Century's Queen Anne's Revenge
Impressive images,
Ugly as hell.
I am not sure what is the point.
If you really want to cruise fast, especially for the width generated by the foil, you go for a gunboat.
I question if the weight/load in cruising boat doesn’t offset the performance of the foils?
All in all, considering up and downside, I am not sold on this, although certainly a great engineering achievement.
That thing is bad a** idc sailboats gotta go somewhere.
I want this boat to be grate but it looks like a dog to be honest unfortunately
