It was a fantastic match, made Rush look like a superstar, and JB look like a great babyface fighting from under. This is Corny going full "AEW BAD!" gimmick.
Honestly, I don't give two squirts about Jungle Boy anymore. This was the greatest squash match they've but on in a while. Rush isn't even that tall but he's bigger than half the roster, he can easily be the biggest monster heel in the company. Preston Vance is one of Cody's best friends. That's about all the reason that he's in the company at this point.
Won't be surprised if it the second one. He saw how LWO was hot in PR. And saw how his brother got more TV time and got to wrestle in their upcoming PLE in a title match, he probably wanted to joined his brother in WWE and joined LWO. At least it better that not feature in championship match and TV for 6 month
It was Rush taking advantage of his first tv time in a long ass time and it was on Jungle boy for not knowing because he’s one of the knuckleheads in the back that doesn’t talk and take advice to the experienced wrestlers
Rush trying to get himself over, Jungleboy being a smarmy prick who only cares about himself and his friends backstage. Rush deciding, ‘F this guy’, and whalla.
Jungle Boy “I don’t take advice from veterans like Billy Gunn” Rush “I do, and I took that personally!” Perhaps Rush’s next match could be against Hangma’am Page!!
that's something, I think Jim is leaving out here. the same Jack Perry, we seen at that convention. he was asked to put a match together with Rush. I don't know Rush, I know he's got a name in Mexico and he's a luchador from a wrestling family going back years and years. if Jack somehow came off rude. Rush probably would put together a match, that made him look like the star and buried Jungle Boy.
Rush is a tough guy, a veteran with 15 years experience. He was looking for Jungle Boy to fight back but Jungle Boy wasn't firing up and creating much of a struggle so it was too one sided.
I am curious if jim and brian know about jungle boy competing and losing in a match at the aew and create a pro promotional event against a relatively unknown guy and then both max castor and mjf trashing him on the mic a week before hes supposed to compete for their world title. Personally i think this and and the rush match are meant to be punishments for his attitude in the uk meet since they happened right after
They should have asked Rush to tell Jack Perry not to be real glass 😂 none of what happened, would have happened at all. Apparently everybody is scared of that guy.
@@linewalker Yes, for a long time. At least he did an excellent career in Japan before and now he's just earning WWE money. I'd love to see him in NOAH though.
that could be something behind this. Takeshita is Kenny's friend from Japan. he's happy to perfom his art. but the Mexicans, they take this a lot more seriously. I kind of thought that Rush was legit pissed off about something during that match? That no sell on Jungle Boy’s close line was strange indeed as well as a few other things that Rush did !! 😮
Rush was "somehow" convinced he was a star when he was named "Mr. CMLL", pushed to win the world heavyweight championship belt, then given his own heel stable when the fans turned on him and then signed to a lucrative ROH deal despite the parent company's legendary stinginess. Also, the Japanese off shoot his heel stable became the most popular faction in New Japan, far more popular than his had ever been in Mexico, but it probably made him feel good all the same.
Konnan, who books Rush in Mexico gave a good response to Cornette’s rant on his podcast. Said Rush is second generation wrestler that’s been active for 15 yrs and is used to fighting old school guys that will take liberties. It was up to Perry to fight back or get eaten up.
"He's number 5 in a 4 horse race" pure gold from Cornette. Anyone else "steal" Cornette's witticisms and use them in everyday life? The one I say the most is: "That's like being the nicest guy in prison."

I didn't watch dynamite but half thru hearing this I had to pull it up to see with my own eyes. Not only did he get to ropes in the snare trap but spun all the way around and went to the hard cam side to do it
Konnan said on his podcast this the way Rush works, he will get his shit in, and if you wanna get your shit in you're gonna have to show some fight (which Jungle Boy lacks). Good punishment for Jungle Boy after his attitude at fan events.
Don't. Jim's looking at it as professional, as a booker and someone who legitimately wants WWE to have domestic competition again. Even if you share some of those traits with him, just remember you're not the AEW booker, you're the AEW fan...or at least AEW observer. Just because Jim is always thinking about the good of the wider business doesn't mean you can't get lost in a match as a fan.
I've seen RUSH have these kind of matches since he got to AEW. He is clearly better at wrestling than Jungle Boy and wanted to show him up and did just that.
I live in Mexico and have been able to see RUSH perform live and he's always like this lol. That's his style and he usually works with people who can handle it and actually gain some offense on the guy however Jungle bitch is not someone you'd throw in with RUSH, their styles are not very compatible. He didn't do anything he wasn't supposed to do, that's just who he is in the ring. Was he stiff? Absolutely but Jungle bitch never gave him a receipt and I'm sure RUSH lost respect for him because of that. Lots of traditional mexican "rudos" have that mentality in the ring. I should add that RUSH and his father, as well as his brothers, have a reputation of getting involved in fights after shows, with both talent and fans.
@@colonelkenpachi5009 hahahaha you should check some of his matches against L.A. Park and Dr. Wagner Jr. And if you're really into that kind of lucha libre watch Místico vs. El Hijo del Perro Aguayo (RUSH's biggest influence in the ring)
CMLL has weight classes. It doesn't stick them as closely as it should, it hasn't since fucking Ultimo Guerrero, who at the very least should be a cruiserweight, won the middle weight belt, but Rush fighting a guy Jungle Jack's size in CMLL would have been a rare treat. Jungle Boy would have been fighting other lightweights, middle weights or minis, and getting destroyed, even beaten flat by Rush, would not have hurt his standing as much because fans would have been conditioned to know he was literally outclassed. Here though, without weight classes, this open weight free for all that is AEW, Jungle Boy has won more matches and is the number one contender going into a pay per view, he should be higher than Rush in the pecking order. If this doesn't lead to something, Rush getting a push similar to Jungle Boy or Jungle Boy avenging this poor showing against Rush, then you've voilated consistency and your booking makes no sense. At least with CM Punk and Wardlow, Wardlow played a key part in Punk beating MJF and Punk was removed from television when there was still some time to follow up on it. This time they have no excuse to not follow up, unless Rush/Jungle boy become indisposed. Willie Hobbs made Adam Page look like shit though, and Page still won the belt while Hobbs remained at the bottom of the card for another two years, so don't trust AEW to make sense.
Rush can actually work btw. Or at least the last time I saw him... in 2015, he could. It pains me that not much of what he's done in AEW is a shining example of that opinion. EDIT - Watched the match. That was the Rush I know and love (lack of professionalism aside, his S**t looked GREAT) Kinda enjoyed it actually. Only thing that I felt went awry was the no-selling. Clearly went into business for himself. Tbh it writes itself. He clearly feels he should be pushed harder (and tbh I think I'd rather see him pushed than certain people) but this wasn't the right way to do it. He's not fully at fault anyways though, JB wasn't even offered much offense let alone the stuff that Rush no sold. It's obvious this match was booked like this bar Rush's chest puffing. I think they worked the planned match and Rush decided to no sell all of Jungle Boy's agreed offense. TL:DR - Rush >>> Jungle Boy... but I agree he (Rush) was acting like an egotistical pr**k, and JB is meant to be above him in kayfabe terms. But tbf no one looks back on Goldberg being schooled by Regal in the same manner.
I just saw the match. This was a trial by fire for Jungle kid. I'm sure turned out the way they wanted. Rush was used to toughen the soft kid up and gain crowd sympathy for him. The end wasn't crazy it's just more horrible booking by AEW
I don't watch any of this horseshit, but after listening to this I had to find the match on RUclips, I swear to god, 99% of the comments for that video are about how amazing Rush was. Lmao

Jungle Boy getting color was 100% planned... he was down on the ground giggin himself for like 10 seconds and Jose scurried around and grabbed the blade from him while he was waving a sign around.
It was the Hogan philosophy. Baby face in peril fighting fighting from underneath. You can't blame Rush for being entertaining whilst carrying Jungle boy. Remember, Perry doesn't take advice from veterans😂😂😂

Then he shouldn't be booking. You don't punish one of the future of your company in a match where he almost broke his neck despite the stuff he has done in the convention. Tony should reprimanded him and punish him by having Jungle Boy to eat the pin for the World title mstch at the DoN PPV, not a random TV match
Rush has been known to go all out in his matches
Damn, Jim just sold this match to me!
💯💯 I actually really liked this match but Jim kinda made me feel bad 😂😂😂
I might go check it out, might
It was a receipt on behalf of Billy Gunn
@@MultiBlack17 I really liked it too, it was hard hitting stuff. The spot where Rush drags jungle boy around the outside of the ring by his hair and smashes him into the barricades hooked me, I thought finally some real arse kicking wrestling. I guess I'm a guy in the middle of the desert drinking his own piss, thinking he's drinking champagne.
It was a fantastic match, made Rush look like a superstar, and JB look like a great babyface fighting from under. This is Corny going full "AEW BAD!" gimmick.
Jim Corenette just made me want to seek out and wtch an AEW match. The sky is falling
I like Rush because his stuff looks real,he hits hard & he's very aggressive but Jungle Boy barely had any offense & he almost broke his neck.
I watched this match and it did seem like Rush was legit pissed off about something 🤷🏻♂️

I will throw out 2 other possibilities: 1. Rush might have just been tired of his shit. 2. Rush is trying to get in with his brother.
If he keeps showing he’s a danger in the ring, WWE will never hire him anymore. Too much of a financial liability.
There's no way WWE sees an unprofessional match like this and say we'll be happy to have u in our roster
@@nikhilkrishnan9 have you seen nxt lately?
It was Rush taking advantage of his first tv time in a long ass time and it was on Jungle boy for not knowing because he’s one of the knuckleheads in the back that doesn’t talk and take advice to the experienced wrestlers

Rush trying to get himself over, Jungleboy being a smarmy prick who only cares about himself and his friends backstage. Rush deciding, ‘F this guy’, and whalla.
Jungle Boy “I don’t take advice from veterans like Billy Gunn”
Rush “I do, and I took that personally!”
Perhaps Rush’s next match could be against Hangma’am Page!!
But it’s also Rush not doing the job he was supposed to do, and the people who run this company having no control of anything or anyone.
On his podcast, Konnan said that Rush has a tendency to work a little stiff. He also said that Jungle Boy should fight back.

My thoughts exactly!!!
Thank you!!😂😂😂...Beat some respect into Jungle Boy😂😂😂
that's something, I think Jim is leaving out here. the same Jack Perry, we seen at that convention. he was asked to put a match together with Rush. I don't know Rush, I know he's got a name in Mexico and he's a luchador from a wrestling family going back years and years. if Jack somehow came off rude. Rush probably would put together a match, that made him look like the star and buried Jungle Boy.
Rush has always been a rough worker in the ring so could have been a punishment for jack to put him in the ring with him so I could see that
Jungle Boy deserved a good ass kicking to humble him a bit tbh.

I wonder now, on 10/12/23, if Jim thinks RUSH is the coolest guy EVER! 🤔
Rush is a hero now
Rush is a tough guy, a veteran with 15 years experience.

Its just weird because I've seen the Q&A he was in and other than being smarky he wasn't bad at the event lol

As Corny would say "who are we pushing!!" I'm shocked that Corny was so pissed off at this match and Rush.
I really feel for Rush, Bandido, Takeshita and other talented guys who came to this company just to be wasted by jobbing or team up with Cassidy.
Like Shinsuke being wasted in WWE
@@linewalker Yes, for a long time. At least he did an excellent career in Japan before and now he's just earning WWE money. I'd love to see him in NOAH though.
that could be something behind this. Takeshita is Kenny's friend from Japan. he's happy to perfom his art. but the Mexicans, they take this a lot more seriously. Court had a incident in MLW not long ago, Parka and a few other guys legit beat up Fatu and Hammerstone. he filed a police report and pressed charges.
Not really the same thing. Nakamura is a really good pro wrestler making a lot of money to get used for whatever while he surfs in his spare time.
Rush, Bandido, and Takeshita just wish they were pro wrestlers.
@@larryjackson2184 Takeshita is legit good though. Corny is actually alright with him, comedy wrestling promotion aside. Like he's actually good, and just needs to touch up a few things.
I am stunned that Cornette is sort of defending Jungle Boy, he is not even a fan of his and he verbally eviscerated RUSH for going into business for himself..incredible!
@@darkstars-torpedoes-of-truth Here, I'll fix it.
It's ok when CM Punk does it in retaliation for someone going into business for themselves on Punk and not receiving any punishment whatsoever. (Page)
If you're talking about the Scrum and the locker room fight. It's ok when CM Punk defends himself from the Elite spreading rumors about him and from several men bursting into his locker room looking to pick a fight.
There, it's fixed.
✌🏾🤡
Im surprised he didnt also rip into Jungle Boy for not standing up for himself. Jim said something like if Jungle did want to retatliate and fight him for real during the match or after the match like they would do back in the day, Jungle Boy wouldnt have a chance because Rush is bigger then him. This point right here is what drives me nuts about AEW.. They push little guys like Jungle Boy expecting us to believe that he can take on and defeat bigger guys and possibly be the champion.. but in reality he would get his butt whooped and Rush doing what he did to him shows that Jungle is a joke lol. Half the roster is a joke.
@@darkstars-torpedoes-of-truth Here, let me tell you why I believe CM Punk over the Elite (Children). That clothesline no sell was unbelievable. This was basically Paul Roma vs Alex Wright all over again.
@peterp2153 very believable you sensitive mark.
You know.... unprofessional and all .... Rush did the crowd a favor and expose curly boy for the pansy he is

I’ve thrown “you couldnt trust what he’s saying even if his tongue was notarized” in few convos. Always good for a lil chuckle if someone hasn’t heard it before
I use his "sweating like a whore in a church" the most, closely followed by "excited like a schoolgirl over a shiny new vibrator"
“Flatter than four o’clock “.. “Flatter than a plate of piss” are some of the ones for me
"he couldnt get a date from a tombstone" is the one ive used a few times.
I quite like “don’t piss up my leg and tell me it’s raining”
"I would hire QT's parents for having him for allowing this to happen just to fire 'em" jesus christ, that's next level
I didn't watch dynamite but half thru hearing this I had to pull it up to see with my own eyes. Not only did he get to ropes in the snare trap but spun all the way around and went to the hard cam side to do it

Rush showed he was the bigger star, he should replace Jungle boy in the title match 😂😂
Maybe this was to spank jungle boy for his European convention mishap???
3:57 I guess this is why I enjoyed the match, I wanted to see Jungle Boy get his ass kicked 😂
Konnan said on his podcast this the way Rush works, he will get his shit in, and if you wanna get your shit in you're gonna have to show some fight (which Jungle Boy lacks). Good punishment for Jungle Boy after his attitude at fan events.
I have to watch this, sounds like a classic.
The match Rush had against Danielson was similar to this, so I wasn't surprised at how dominant he was.
Jim got worked big time on this one 😂
Sammy vs Luke Perry’s son. Pillar vs Pillar. Who’s getting their own DSOTR episode first?
Jungle boy
The way Jim described this made me kinda feel bad for liking this match a lot 😂😂
NAHHH for me it was the bookers fault.
Fr I thought Rush was dope except for the throw
He is way better 🙏🏽 lol
Damn this makes me wish I went to Mexico to those events.
The more I hear about Rush the more I become a fan.
Rush was waiting for Jungle Boy to fire up and throw some smoke(which JB has no clue how to do because he has never been in a real fight.)
I just saw the match. This was a trial by fire for Jungle kid. I'm sure turned out the way they wanted. Rush was used to toughen the soft kid up and gain crowd sympathy for him. The end wasn't crazy it's just more horrible booking by AEW
JB should've lost because he needs adversity
Based on the management philosophy at AEW, Rush will probably get a big push.
Honestly i kind of enjoyed the way rush punked him out there lol the cup check was hilarious
Rush should get JB spot in the match. He looks like the real contender here
Rush did the same thing to Moxley a few months back.

Yep, that's straight up the opposite of what they want lol. Makes Jungle Boy look like even more of a chump, which I kinda don't mind. Dude has not amounted to much at all.
Jungle Bust
Jungle Boy getting color was 100% planned... he was down on the ground giggin himself for like 10 seconds and Jose scurried around and grabbed the blade from him while he was waving a sign around.
Why would you? .... because its AEW .... nothing they do makes sense so of course they would get color in a nothing match.
It was the Hogan philosophy. Baby face in peril fighting fighting from underneath. You can't blame Rush for being entertaining whilst carrying Jungle boy. Remember, Perry doesn't take advice from veterans😂😂😂

I don't think Rush went into business for himself here. He just displayed his talent by showing his usual stuff, which may look very realistic cause of the stiffness but it's still worked. Jungle Boy on the other hand wasn't helped by the booking which gave him much less offense than his opponent, even for a face-in-peril situation.
Or maybe Billy Gunn was the producer for this match lol
Jungle Boy has less of a chance at beating MJF as Spike Dudley had a chance at beating Big Show.
Also, Rush has a history of ‘no-selling’, but very telling that he didn’t try that sh*t with “The Plumber”.
