  • A rally version of the Miramar takes on a long-ish rally stage through the woods.
This is a new idea I've been thinking about a lot, and have tried very hard to get it right. I've been scouting the vanilla maps to work out a rally track that is mainly loose surfaces, but also fairly fast and varied. Using the East Coast, USA map for this purpose. The track would actually be a very bad rally track, since it forms a loop, and a small section of road is in fact used twice, anyway I don't care.
Next up was vehicles, personally I think the Miramar is very underrated, so I made a custom version to help with the offroad and give it a bit of extra power.
For camera work, I really wanted to take on the challenge of a single take, and the result I'm very pleased with. Definitely the longest single shot I've ever filmed.
Regarding future stuffs, you may have noticed there's a number one in the title, I'm hoping to make this into a bit of a series, and have multiple vehicles go around the track, time them and compare on a leader board. I also spent far too long thinking this part over, and custom designing the leader board and graphics, none of which I've ever done before (even video editing is very new to me) and I'm sure that it shows, but eh I had fun so who cares.
Enjoy, hopefully this becomes a more regular thing since I really enjoyed the process on this one.

Glad you enjoyed! Yeah camera paths take a long time, particularly when I challenge myself to use no cuts. As much as I like the one-shot idea, the next video (coming soon) is still one take, but cuts are allowed.

Actually when I started, I averaged a minute of work for every second of footage :( Not a good ratio. Nowadays I'm a lot faster and usually get the first draft to follow the car pretty well, so it only needs minor tweaks.
