    Great work can't believe it takes 15 mins to assemble with only 3 guys!

    Mike you gave me a answer from a vid you made 5 years ago, I made the two , I made the struts 15 cm A.. and 13.265 cm B struts, now I’ll try the 3 , cheers 53 year old , Rick..

    Mike, this is incredibly helpful. Planning on building one on a larger scale, Thanks for doing this. Cheers!

    Thank you for explaining what the frequencies were in this video it really confused me in your first video.

    I have watched alot of your dome videos great job i made one 2v 16ft according to your instruction and it turned out great but I have only one problem and I hope you can help i have a lot of time and now money my problem is I have tried to cover it several times and failed i have no idea on how to fix this without a cover the dome is dead do you have any ideas on how to proceed thanks for sharing your work

      Hey, this comment slipped through the cracks. I’d suggest throwing a round parachute over the top of you need just a light cover, but I’d recommend sewing triangles together out of something denser if you need a more permanent temporary solution.

    Gday is the node to node distance the distance the hole we make for the paper fasteners?

    • @MikesInventions

      Yes, in this case with holes, the node to node distance is the hole to hole distance. So make sure to leave extra material at each end so you can drill a hole.

    I think a soccer ball pattern is based on a 3v geodesic sphere.

    There are not 20 pentagons in an icosahedron. There are 20 equilateral triangles!

    Also, I wanted to ask do you think it would be possible to make a dome big enough for people to sit in out of paper if you used a larger frequency?

    • @MikesInventions
      @MikesInventions  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Erin. Sorry about the confusion in the first video. Glad you watched them both though! Paper is very strong, and you can certainly make a larger dome with more frequencies or you can use thicker, longer paper at a lower frequency. 3v is the highest I've ever built, but if you're really committed and will get a LOT of use out of your dome, you can go 4 or higher. I'd recommend stronger paper and 2 or 3 though. Did you see the HUGE dome video? It's only 2v. Try newspaper or maybe 11x17 papers to make your tubes. Better yet, premade cardboard tubes would be best if you can find enough. I couldn't. Good luck, thanks for asking, and watching!

      Ooo, another thing. Cardboard "Tubes" that have a triangular cross section. One side of the tube an have tabs left on their ends that would serve as connection tabs and would allow the tubes to bend as needed. The tubes can be cut, folded twice along their length and taped shut. VERY strong. I love cardboard and all it can do. (Boats anyone?) Hope that helps too.

      Make the tubes out of brown kraftpaper, ideally virgin kraft roll) using sodium silicate for glue. The resulting tube will be super rigid and amazingly strong. Paper struts are not ideal for outdoor use ;) To make a 4/9 3v icosa into a flat base you only need to modify 20x struts, imho, its worth the small amount of extra effort.

    you could have gone further and made a ball or sphere, out of the 3 frequency, that would have been awesome

    Can I use the same length struts for the V2 dome?

    • @MikesInventions
      @MikesInventions  Год назад

      Hey Dr Strange! In order to get things to come out into a dome shape and be strong, you need to have the struts be different lengths. Thanks for watching!

    You made a mistake on your dome visual colors bottom right. Blue strut should be green. Anyway good explanation

      Hey good eye! Yep, that should have been green. Thanks for letting us know.
