    Is the gearing on that sport going to be enough to handle 35s? Isnt the gearing a 3.45?

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад +4

      The new 8-speed automatic and 3.45s will handle a set of 35s just fine, you just won't see 8th gear as much. If you plan on doing a good bit of wheeling and have the room in your budget though, regearing to a set of 4.56s would help out a lot. -Zach

    • @thewebwingman
      @thewebwingman 5 лет назад +3

      I had to swap the 3.45s out on my 2dr manual when I slapped on 35s because going up any sort of incline at freeway speed meant 5th and 6th would basically just laugh at me. Went for 4.56s and it's MUCH more driveable - but I'm turning around 2000 RPM at 65 in 6th, so it might have been a little too much ratio for 35s.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад +4

      @@thewebwingman The 6 speed manual definitely changes things in regards to gearing and how the stock setup will handle larger tires, that's why I made sure to specify the 8 speed automatic being able to handle 35s, LOL. Thank you for the helpful input! -Zach

    Does the jl come with 4.10 gearing? Or is it 3.73? Im trying to decide if i want 33 or 35 inch tires. I have a JKU Backcountry with the 3.73 gears and I live in high elevation with hills. I plan to offroad but def will not be hardcore rock crawling. Most offroading i will be doing is overlanding.

    Having this bumper without the air damp could it be worse for the jeep? Meaning back roads chips and rocks?

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад +1

      Going with a high clearance bumper like this without an air dam won't hurt anything. You'll see a slight decrease in fuel economy since its a LOT less aerodynamic and you may get some chips on suspension components, but its not dangerous by any means. -Zach

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад +2

      Gears were kept the same! If you have the 6 speed manual you will most likely have to re-gear when you go up to 35s, but the 10-speed auto does a really nice job with compensating once you re-calibrate for larger tires. Part prices can be found by following the links in the description. Thanks for watching! 😁 -Zach

      ExtremeTerrain.com what about the 6 speed rubicon... Do I have to re-gear?

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад

      @@markspark3360 Since the Rubicon comes with 4.10 gears out of the factory, you will be able to handle those 35s better than the Sport and Sahara models with the 3.45s. That being said if you do a lot of off-roading, gearing up to a 4.56 or 4.88 will definitely help out. Hope this helps! -Zach

    I have a stock 2018 JL and I want to start building it. I just have a few questions first. Is a 3.5 inch lift too big for a set of 35s on a new JL? And if so would I need to regear if I went to 37s? Right now I’m looking at the Teraflex 3.5 inch lift with Falcon 3.3 shocks. Is that too much lift for a beginner. I am open to any advice possible. Thanks in advance.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад

      You can go as big as you want to, even as a beginner! If your plans are to start off with 35s and eventually move your way up to 37s, 3.5 inches of lift will be perfect. If your plans are to stick with 35s though, you may be a little better off only going with 2.5 inches to keep your center of gravity down a bit. As for regearing, your stock gears can handle 35s relatively well especially if you have the new 8-Speed automatic transmission. If your plans are 37s you will really need to regear. -Zach

    Will it hit 8th gear?

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад

      Without regearing, you won't be seeing 8th gear much unless you're going down-hill or flat on the highway. That being said with the new 8-speed automatic transmission FCA is using I've seen plenty of people have no issues with the stock 3.45 gears. If you plan on doing a lot of off-roading and have room in your budget, regearing to 4.56 would be ideal. -Zach

    • @attnielthomas7856
      @attnielthomas7856 5 лет назад

      Sir, assuming you want a true lift with shocks and springs there are several two inch lifts including MOPAR, Dynatrac, and Rubicon Express. If you want a lower height, try, Skyjacker 1.5” which also offers a full kit-springs and shocks. Hope this helps.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  5 лет назад

      If you want to go with the 33s that come on a Rubicon, 285/70R17, you actually don't need a lift at all! You can run that size no problem without a lift. If you wanted to go with anything wider or slightly taller though I would highly recommend a 1.5" or 2" lift. That will give you a little more room in the wheel well and to flex off-road. -Zach
