That looks really cute! It looks like a lot of fun! If I were to add anything, it would be; name your dwarf! I'd go with something punny, like Bor Rockbiter! 😅
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring oh! Sidenote; my friend accidently broke the Unmatched Tales to Amaze with The Marvel Black Panther... Evidently his special ability allows him to store the enemies cards and use them for his Boost Value. If he steals the "Hoax" or "Deception" card in this way, the boss has no ability to recycle his small deck, and ends up killing himself! Woops!
Looks interesting, I've been getting more into light weight family board games rather than miniatures based stuff lately. wouldn't mind seeing a playthrough of this.
This is a really good one with families. It's got some healthy competition, but you do still have to help each other when the going gets tough. My daughter (13) loves it too. I was quite relieved to have a game I like that didn't come with miniatures to paint, but I am now thinking maybe I want the official miniatures after all...
I can't recall the last time I saw you loving a game in review, where there were very few and only small niggles, with the verdict being an overwhelming endorsement. One game I will be adding to our collection then, just need to decide upon meeples or minis 😊
This one just connected so perfectly with everything I love about games. The right aesthetic, the right level of silliness, an excellent balance of complexity and accessibility, lots of crazy events but with most victories coming down to clever play more than dumb luck, good replayability, a solo mode... The list just goes on. It even does a good job of the tricky competitive co-operative game style. The rules could do with a little more polish, especially regarding goblins and goblin skulkers, but it was just a pleasure a play. I hope anybody who decides to pick it up enjoys it even half as much as I have!
Thanks for watching. I've been having so much fun with this one, and when I play against my daughter she has been asking for the game to be reset for another round as soon as our dwarves escape.
Ah that’s cool. So the game is also soloable it seems. I really like the aesthetic of the entire game. I’m not crazy about the meeples, but I could probably sub in other figures. Thanks again
Absolutely. As I mentioned in the video, the game is for 1 to 6 players, and official miniatures are available. You can either buy the game with the miniatures included, or pick them up separately later on. Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs is a solid gold classic.
Yeah, Misty Mountains Cold is a good song and all... HiHo is classic and all, but the true national anthem for fantasy Dwarves everywhere is Diggy Hole 😅
Thanks for the review, it sounds really cool and I'll pick a copy up to give it a try...looks like I could bling it up with some resin printed 15mm scale minis too...
I like their miniatures, this game looks fun and those dice mechanics are so close to how combat works in my homebrew system that you could throw the Stalagbite monsters straight in using the dice from the boardgame. I think I'll be buying this at some point!
Thanks for the vid, looks like a great game! Any thoughts on how it may play solo? Looks like there's a fair bit of co op interaction such as rescue etc. that I'd guess wouldn't apply with just one dwarf 🤔
It’s fun solo. As I mentioned in the review it feels more daring and dangerous. You have to rely on yourself more, but it takes a lot longer for the goblin hunters to arrive. It’s better with more players, though.
I did mention in the review that Midlam Miniatures do make replacement miniatures for the meeples. It obviously adds significantly to the cost of the game though. If you follow the link in the video description to their website you can check out all the miniatures and even direct order a version of the game with the miniatures included.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Agreed, they're a niche buy. Can't really proxy them, as they look 15mm scale? I had a look on Midlam's Website and the mini's are rather nice. Pity the floor plans aren't larger and you could proxy 28mm minis. The monsters could be 3d printed. I found a nice Stalagbite proxy Roper on 3D Cults. If your interested I could print you some out as a channel gift. Great vid by the way.
The official miniatures are on 25mm bases and around 40mm tall, which is the right scale for the boards. Thanks so much for the generous offer, but I don't want to promote anything that would take away from Midlam Miniatures. They are a small, hard-working company and if I do decide to upgrade the components I want to use their official stuff.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Good man, you've definitely helped already showcasing this great game. I didn't know anything about it. Have to grab myself a copy ( £50 plus £5 postage) Sounds pretty good to me. I would support the game by buying the game and core minis, but probably proxy the monsters myself. They're pretty resonably priced at around £3 each. This game will really shine using the available mini's.
It really is a lovely game. Totally took me by surprise. I think there is a bundle on the website that includes most of the miniatures, but it really does ramp up the price. If you already have goblins and dwarves (and who doesn't?) it's really only the monsters you need to worry about.
Stalagbite will be available to buy from Farscape at Tabletop Scotland 6-8th September, 2024!
Excellent. Comment pinned.
Dwarves, goblins, riches and relics? I’ll have to try this!
Watch out for those lurkers. They're sneaky little gits.
Looks good. Not needing a large table is always a bonus.
For a dungeon crawler, it's about as far removed from the sprawl of a game like Shadows of Brimstone as it's possible to get!
Making dinner listening to Always Board, Never Boring....perfect
Yeah his long form reviews are great. I found him researching Cursed City, it was an hour long but was phenomenal.
Thank you so much to both of you. I've always talked too much, so it's nice to have somewhere to channel that!
That looks really cute! It looks like a lot of fun! If I were to add anything, it would be; name your dwarf! I'd go with something punny, like Bor Rockbiter! 😅
There is a little campaign sheet in the rules you can photocopy and a space to record your dwarf details, so definitely room for some bad pun names.

Uh oh. I guess they never tested every hero combination.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I guess not! 😅
Sold, I'm getting it😂. Plus UK based for a change 😊
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Incredibly cool game. Sounds very fun. Thanks for the review, ABNB

Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs is a solid gold classic.
looks fun, a better vid than on the KS page ) will check em out at Expo
I am sure they would be happy to see you. Apparently there may even be a giant Stalagbite there, so watch out for that. They're bitey.
This looks awesome! Thanks for highlight it👍🏻
I was really glad I had a chance to review it because otherwise it would have completely passed me by. It really is so much fun.
Yeah, Misty Mountains Cold is a good song and all... HiHo is classic and all, but the true national anthem for fantasy Dwarves everywhere is Diggy Hole 😅
Ain't that the truth.
Great video, thanks for this.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked the video.
This game is fantastic.
It’s amazing. My best find of the year so far.
I recently exceeded my game budget, but this one goes on my birthday wishlist. 👍
If you get a copy I hope you really enjoy it.

Certainly. Or you can get the game with the official miniatures included (or buy them separately later).
This looks delightful!
It really is. I love it.
Nice, great vid.
Thank you.

It's a fun little combat system that doesn't get in the way of the main focus of exploring. The game is thought out and balanced very well.
This game looks... amazing!
I certainly thought so.

reminds me of the Tiny Epic series boardgames....I think they are great =]
It has that sort of feel, with the meeples, but this is ultimately a regular sized game. It's not intended to be as compact as the Epic series.
This game screams for some upgrade-3D-printed miniatures.
As I mentioned in the review there are already official miniatures available. They are very nice but add a lot to the price.
wow this looks super cool!
It's such a lovely game. I think it's superb.
dang i cant find it easily to get here in the states. Hate I missed kickstarter. I want with those minis!
i wish rhis game had proper minis

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring perhaps you did.. I was listening in the car.
Love to see a game with the proper mini upgrades. :)
I may do a playthrough at some point, but upgrading to the miniatures isn't in my hobby budget just yet. I may get them at some point, though!
