We drove to Lancaster County and ordered a set that we paid good money for and had to wait several months for while it was being made. We were not disappointed, it’s fine solid quarter sawn white oak, heavy as the day is long, beautiful and so well made. This furniture will last for many generations.

Baepsae I think my point is that they’re calling these people Amish.. Went really these people are probably Mennonite... Definitely some similarities but calling the Amish they’re only doing that to maybe sell more furniture because Amish made furniture is probably gonna sell better than Mennonite made furniture.. I should’ve explained myself a little bit more in my original message...
I work with an Amish furniture buisiness. We use the work of Amish builders in Millersburg Ohio. They are legitimately Amish, not Mennonite, and they do not call themselves that title. Some of our "builders", as we call them use the same type of facilities and craftsmanship as the Amish in the video above. That doesn't make the Mennonites. They are still different from Mennonites. They do not use smart phones, drive cars or use Electricity like some Mennonites. I understand the point you were trying to make but your Amish are not the same as Amish everywhere else. There are severely more traditional Amish communities out there, and slightly more relaxed communities. But they are still Amish. The rules are dictated by the religious leaders in the county they live in, and each neighborhood in some cases can have drastically different rules and allowances. There are so many different kinds of Amish craftsmen out there, even as builders in the family owned buisiness I work in. :)
Baepsae makes sense.. the Amish in this area are much more strict.. They most likely would not use any power tools and they would never wear colors.. much more strict.. interesting stuff tho.. thanks for explaining 😃

Wait! What? They are using power tools? I'm not against power tools but I was expecting more hand tools work! Great craftsmanship though!
theres too many long beards oprating all this machinery for my liking
Should have included how they can use power tools, without being connected to the non-Amish world, and where they get those tools. I read about that, and a lot more, many years ago. Very interesting, and very intelligent way of still obeying their beliefs. So don't believe I'm knocking them, because I am not.
Huh.. the Amish around here would never use these electric tools or be on camera.. or wear clothes that bright...
Every Amish community is different depending on where you go. The religious leaders of that community set rules for the Amish in that area to follow. Some sects are extremely conservative, and other sects are allowed to use diesel generators ( not connected to the electric grid ), and some don't. Regardless, in the end, their construction techniques and furniture is as sound and solid as ever, and their religious values and community remain in tact which is their main goal. They arent against using electricity for the sake of not using electricity. They are simply against adopting things as a community that would make them stray away from their core values and closeness. Using a belt sander will not undo a community, but using a smartphone, indeed can. See the difference? ;)
@@1806StoneHouse - yeah it's really interesting, even in this business some are like the Amish in the video and others have much longer lead times and would never allow themselves to be filmed or wear colors like that. It's different depending on who we order from. They're fantastic to work with through. I really enjoy selling their stuff. Have a great day :)
Amish people when they do something very nice Kline
i was expecting hand tools, not power tools, so dissapointed :D but still good job
Hand tools would perhaps dbl or triple the cost ,vs power tools.
