the rain smelling like ants is an expression unique to you. unique expression is essential to poetry. writing something that everyone else feels is advertising or politics
I love the video but weirdly enough, the complete opposite of the first advice works for me. Maybe it’s because I have ADHD but if I try to “blank my mind”, nothing is gonna work out ( mainly because I can’t just do that xD). For me, creativity comes when you don’t expect it to.

i like to read my friends' poetry mostly! but my favourite poet currently is emily dickenson. but i truly need to widen my own reading too!
I haven't read it yet, but Shelby Leigh has poetry for mental health that I've heard is really good.
