"I probably should have downloaded a gps"....story of my life. Another great video, man. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have found Robber's Roost after watching this. But when I try it again, now I've got a resource. Thanks!

Lol! Man, ain’t that the truth! I told Laura it was just going to be a few miles. Ooops. Her legs were so worked, by the time we got to bluff springs, she looked like a baby horse trying to walk!

The first time I did the Cave Trail it kicked my ass. The cairns were hard to follow and a lot more difficult than I thought, but it’s definitely become one of my favorites.

@@MoonJuiceHikes Yeah. My buddy who hikes all over the place in the area said we might have to do it as a night hike to not melt, in which case we probably won't be quite so adventurous with alternate trails and the like. But either way, I'm looking forward to it. I appreciate what you're doing here = )

@MoonJuiceHikes Definitely. For the moment, my hikes are limited to the high Sierras. Much cooler and there's still some snow at the 9,000'+ level.

Glad it’s helpful! FYI, as you get within a few hundred yards from Cobra Head rock, there are Cairns peeling off to the right, up and over a saddle. While you can get to the Roost, it’s sort of like walking the long way around the house to enter the back door. When you see Cairns going up and over the saddle, look to your left, there are also cairns on the actual trail too. I often see people with their phones in their hand coming around from the backside totally confused after incorrectly following the wrong cairns. 👍

@@MoonJuiceHikes awesome thank you! Is there enough space for a couple 1 man tents there? It seems like it would be less windy than Lone Pine or on the saddle.

@@theochamberlain6765 Oh yeah, plenty of room Theo. I mean, I wouldn’t try to camp directly in the Roost, unless you get there very late in the afternoon. There’s not much room and you’re going to have other hikers coming in all afternoon. It’d be weird. Check out my Icon Loop video. I’m approaching the roost from the opposite direction (Ridgeline), but it shows where good flat spots are near the Roost. I walk to the roost from the camping area, which is cairned. Should make it clear as day where you can camp. Have fun man!

Great advice, thanks again Breven. You are The Guru of the Supes at our house. Your videos are required watching/recon before all of our trips.
I saw your Icon loop video and will check out the spots by the Roost. Also, your 60 miler out to the West end was epic. All that backtracking for shots is appreciated. Keep up the good work my man!

Hi there, new subscriber here. Love your videos and content. I'm 62, not in shape, and live about 20 miles from the Superstitions. What would be the easiest 1-2 mike out, then back trails that would get me started in late October or November just to get my feet wet? Thank you for your content.

    • @MoonJuiceHikes

Hey Pat! I’d recommend downloading a free hiking app like AllTrails. This will really help find trails with the length and difficulty you’re looking for. In the Supes, check out the Treasure Loop (park for free at Jacob’s Crosscut). Also, the Hieroglyphics trail is a good short hike. When you’re ready for a little elevation gain, the Wave Cave and then Peralta Canyon. One step at a time my friend, you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll improve. Happy trails!
