I'd definitely recommend checking out Rose (from BLACKPINK) in one of her solo moments at their concerts, especially there's one that I don't know if there's a video for but she sings part of Let It Be and a couple other songs, and really shows how she's one of the best and most unique voices in K-Pop girl groups right now. Lots of flexibility plus a recognizable tone.
Ah, "Blackpink" have a "black" and a "pink" side - this is easily their 'pinkest' song by far. Yes, it's 'cute', but it has a rather explicit sexual subtext if you listen carefully to it. It was co-writen by Arana Grande, so that may explain the rather 'poppy' western style you commented on. For their 'blacker" side, try How You Like That, or Kill This Love. For their more laid back songs, Stay and Whistle are good.
It's a fun song, but not really a lot to comment on musically or performative. You're right about being straight bubblegum (or I guess ice cream). I feel like you were talking about two different things with the Du-du-du. BLACKPINK literally has a song called DDU-DU-DDU-DU which feels like what you were reffering to the first time. I still would love to see a reaction to a more vocally technical K-Pop song. I highlu suggesst a life performance of My Answer by EXO. But also, a non K-Pop rec.
