If your looking for something to dye a whole fursuit, use a mixture of alcohol based marker ink/alchohol based ink and alcohol. Put it in a spray bottle, mix, and just make sure you get it through all the fur. (Use gloves PLEASE, I've made this mistake before and my hands are still tinted pink.) Wait for it to dry, rinse it out until the water runs clear, brush, and let it dry again. Bam, coloured fur.
Shirley willi well it depends on if it's natural fibers or synthetic fibers, if it is made by a manufacturer, it should have care instructions on the tag
I tried using spray paint to "dye" mine and it was just a huge mess bc spray paint clumps and dries pretty fast. (By the way you can easily use acetone to get it out) so im glad i found this!
You have to be WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY more specific than "just add water until the paint isn't as thick" ...the paint-water mixture has to be VERY thin or else the fur will end up like fried damaged hair afterwards.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I'm going to dye some fur green for one of my fursonas and I needed this help since Im new to fursuit making.
Thank you for this! I’m gonna start working on a fursuit soon and I didn’t want to buy more fur, since I already have a lot and I wouldn’t need so much.
Thank you for giving me this idea. I have try this and it actually works! I was trying to find fur that was long for a stuff animal I am doing and only found white that has the length that I want so this help so thank you. If anyone wants to try this but doesn't know to f it works it does so don't worry.
Would this metjod be good for dyeing furr for a plush? I'm makeing a plush for my best friend but have run out if lemon yellow furr.. can't find any pin hello in stock either
Thanks for the video! I think this is the only faux fur coloring tutorial that uses a base color other than white, which is really helpful. Would method work if I have a yellowish faux fur and just want to make it slightly more orange? Like instead of changing the color entirely, would I be able to 'tint' it into a more orange-yellowish color?
Can you please do one on dyeing Spots onto fur? I have zero know how when it comes to working with fur as i never have before. I REALLY want to do a Snow Leopard type thing but since i cant find that style fur with a pattern im happy with i wanted to see if i could just get white and dye spots onto it...
I have a darker color that i need lightened. I havent found any videos on bleaching fur. Does anyone know if i could maybe water down some bleach to lighten the color? Im not sure if using lighter dye would have the same effect as dying something light to a dark color
If you get a nice sunny day lay your faux fur out on a towel or blanket for a couple days, the sun will lighten it naturally. Leave out for longer if you wish for it to be much lighter. The bleach will ruin your faux fur. Make sure it is flat all exposed if there are creases or folds those areas will be darker, unless that is the effect you are trying to achieve.
Hello... I saw you've done the fur acrylic painting tutorial. Can you show the first construction phase of making the fur. Your work looks like cat hair. How did you get that? How much percent of acrylic yarn used. Help please...
The fake "fur" fabric I used in the video is bought on a store in Norway called "Stoff & Stil" I did not make it, but thank you for watching and asking!
bought a super cheesy halloween wolf mask lets hope this worksssss mainly cause i cant properly do the back side of the fur on the muzzle and ears and around the mouth in general i was gunna try a test swatch whatever you call it but i dont have proper fur to test it with oK LETS SEE IF IT WORKSS
It works best when you paint a darker color on lighter fur and not reverse! And I think a white fur base gives better result for the gray/dirty white color you want
Oh my. I accicentally found this video and I love it! Almost every tutorial video or article on the internet I was saw was bad and usless. But your is perfect 💙 I have a question, Is this paint would be waterproof?
Does this wash off if you get the fur wet? I'm gonna do this for my fursuit because this is a cheaper alternative, but I need to know if it comes off if I wash it,
Ha like you arnt a psycho for hateing people and their hobbies, dreams and or passions thx for being on this earth to criticize people and make them feel bad I hope you have a nice day ma'am
I bought a faux fur shawl as a gift for a relative but the layers between the faux fur are too wide its noticeable I cannot return it because the company did not explain how and its in Singapore so I thought oh I'll buy some dye. I dont want to dye the faux fur I want to dye the fabric in between the rows of faux fur.its already pink I chose pink but again, the gap is too noticeable its a crappy white. Need some guidance please and thank you. 🩷

How did you know o_O
Are your hands still pink 5 years later? Or did it go away with time?
@@scottwilliams846 they’re still pink (i’m joking no my hands aren’t pink anymore)
Omg tysm i need to try this
Thank you! I'll be using this to dye fur for my fursuit. I haven't been able to find any pastel green fur in stock, so this will save me a TON
How do you clean a fur coar
Shirley willi well it depends on if it's natural fibers or synthetic fibers, if it is made by a manufacturer, it should have care instructions on the tag
Mayo The Cat How'd it work out?
Fang TheHedgebat haven't tried yet, I need to restock on white fur
Omg I'm also watching this so I can dye my fur green XD
Oh boy oh boy, I’m glad I found this. I was sooo new to using fur that I was gonna use spray paint to dye it! Thanks for making this video!
I did that exact same trick
It works
So if anyone wants to know if it works, it does
Is it permanent?
I tried using spray paint to "dye" mine and it was just a huge mess bc spray paint clumps and dries pretty fast. (By the way you can easily use acetone to get it out) so im glad i found this!
acetone can melt synthetic fur so I advise against using it
@@mirouyo9785 well thanks but this was $5 fur ears from amazon so i couldnt have cared less. But yeah it was still wet so i used acetone to rub it off
You have to be WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY more specific than "just add water until the paint isn't as thick" ...the paint-water mixture has to be VERY thin or else the fur will end up like fried damaged hair afterwards.
Thanks! This worked great for my Lily the Mechanic cosplay!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I'm going to dye some fur green for one of my fursonas and I needed this help since Im new to fursuit making.
This helped me a lot for my fursuit!
Me too I'm using it for my paws
thanks heaps!
this tutorial will be great for my Skyrim cosplay
Would this also work by submerging the fur in the paint water?
Yeah!
That's so much easier for me and saves me a lot of time messing around with it!
Regular paint like in arts in craft or spray paint?
can you use hair dye for the fur as well?
Don't use black to darken your paint! Use Grey. Black makes your paint black no matter what
Awesome!! You should make more tutorials :)
Yaay, I shall! :D Thank you ^^
ahh this helped so much! ty for making this!
Im so glad to hear! :D Ofc
I thought I would have to use spray paint honestly, thank you for making it that easy.
Wow! That's really all you have to do? Thank you so much for the help! :3
Awesome Tutorial! I'm new to using fur so this will help a ton! Question, will the paint wash off if I clean it or put it in a washing machine??
I wanna know that to
Can you dye black to white?
thank you!! this will be very useful for my future cosplays hehe 💗
If it rains, is the pain going to stay?
Yoo
I didn't expect to find Elly randomly searching on youtube for tutorials!
Saying Hi from Chris!
Making a costume for my kid. This came in handy!
Thank you for this! I’m gonna start working on a fursuit soon and I didn’t want to buy more fur, since I already have a lot and I wouldn’t need so much.
You are a lifesaver!! Thank you for making this, I was looking for it!
TYYYY! I been rlly wanting to dye fur! but I didn’t know how for but Ty for showing me!!!
Can I dye any type of yarn and fur and clothes by theas colors???

try the same thing but just with spots instead of all over!
Now the real question is how do I do this for the body of my fursuit
Mayo The Cat Doing a full body suit with this method will be extremely time consuming. I recommend finding an already colored fur, or dying it!
Emma Grace time consuming, but worth it
Thank you sooo much! This helped me sooo much!!
Thank you for making a video on this, it seems like an awesome method! I’ll try it for dying my fur ears :D
Thank you so much 😍
Could it work on teddy bear ?
Very helpful! But do you need a hair dryer or can you just hang it outside?
Thank you , now I can paint my mascots white fur 😃👍🏽
Will the dye last if submerged or washed in water? Do you think it will bleed less if it's washed in cold water??
Is it possible to “paint” fur with white paint, or will only darker colours work well? Really helpful tutorial btw!! ^^
How does this hold up with washing?
can you use this on black fur?
I’ve been looking everywhere for a video on how to dye fur without dye and this solves it. I’m adding fur to my masks coz they are furless lol
Thanks for sharing I love it

Tina Knutsen does this really work
This is very helpful! Thank you so much! ^^
Does it work with tails? Want to dye it black
Can you use Tie dye spray to color faux fur? Will that be permanent as well?
Can u use waterproof paints as well?
Can i do this on a black fur pillow?

Cheers, my custom ears were too green from the wig ref I gave someone and they refused to fix it, now I can make it the blue it should of been
Fantástico. Muchas gracias ❤❤❤❤
bought a super cheesy halloween wolf mask
lets hope this worksssss
mainly cause i cant properly do the back side of the fur on the muzzle and ears
and around the mouth in general
i was gunna try a test swatch whatever you call it
but i dont have proper fur to test it with
oK LETS SEE IF IT WORKSS
the inner ears would be fun
mainly cause itd have to be stripey to be accurate
heck
Like the one in my profile pic?
Also how did it turn out because I'm thinking of customizing my mask
Will this work if I'm trying to dye a black part white?
(I'm trying to make a fox tail out of a plain black tail)
Personally I don't think bleach would be a good idea. If you can't get it all out it can destroy the fibers overtime.
Do the colors come out over time???
Oof thanks for the tip! This will be really useful for my fursuit!
Does this work for more than one kind of fur?
Thaaaaank you :D I needed this
Will this method work to go pink to black
Will it work with soft fake fur? I'm scared if the soft fur will harden or get un soft.
Is it permanent though? Like the dye I mean?
How fast does this stuff wash out?
Does it wash out?
Does the color bleed when it gets wet?
This helped a lot with my tail for my suit🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Im so glad it helped! :D
Can I use tie dye ?
I saw the ears at the end and before she said anything I was like “HOLO!”
Awesome💗
Thanks!
What color and place did you get the original fur? I can’t find it anyway!! I also plan to use your method to try a color fade on it :)
What if the fur has spots
This might work for a blue fur carpet? I want to paint it dirty white/light grey
FYI: It is Acrylic paint, if you plan on washing (delicate cycle) it will fade the dark colors and wash out the light colors.
Does this wash off if you get the fur wet? I'm gonna do this for my fursuit because this is a cheaper alternative, but I need to know if it comes off if I wash it,
I think it will wash out over time yes, so I don't recomend to wash it much..
Alright! Thank you
Is there a link for the fur
will this work for furbies?
this is so useful!
Soooo... What if I wanna do gold?
does it come off? im planning on using this on a long furby
Vee Voiz
I think using acetone will get it out of the fur! But be careful because it could bleach or fry the fur
Time to see if I can convert a plush German Shepard into a Wolf.
I just found this video today, and I was wondering if the fur is still soft and fluffy after painting it?
It depends on how much color you have in, but mine tuned out fluffy, but not as soft as it where before.
Elisabeth Aspen I didn't expect a reply this quick, thank you! I'll keep that in mind for future!
Mine did not work :(
Is it ok if you don’t blow dry it?
Yes, just remember to brush it sometimes :)
Will the color wash off if I wash it? 🤔
Yes, It will fade a bit for every wash
The problem is in case I want to paint it white
yeah, it's harder to dye it lighter than darker
Handy
Thx! also you kinda sound like little missfortune :D
I came here to learn how to dye fur for a trafalgar law cosplay and I’m disgusted at all the furries in the comments
What did you expect dumbass
For me the furr just got stiff help ;-;
Just dont tell me Kool Aid trick it is tacky and toxic.
Who else is so immature to laugh when she says “backside”?
(Me being normal human watching this and looking to dye ears for a kutsune todoroki cosplay and seeing large flock of furries)
O_O
A lot of psychos that wear fur suits in the comments 🤮🤢
Daniella Hernandez lmao imagine having nothing better to do with your life than hating on people having fun
Ha like you arnt a psycho for hateing people and their hobbies, dreams and or passions thx for being on this earth to criticize people and make them feel bad I hope you have a nice day ma'am
