      @@ronaldhall2489 Yeah I agree and I personally have heard so many people who stereotype Methadone and people who are in Methadone clinics by people of all walks of life… ya know “ they are all just Hereon Addicts who are just trading one addiction for another or replacing one addiction with another addiction “ all kinds of different stereotypes that we are all are just Herron junkies, Etc… I have even first hand felt discrimination by people who are Doctors and Nurses at E.R.’s when they find out that you are on Methadone daily therefore the only possible reason why you can be at the E.R. Is because you are “drug seeking “ which in my case was not the reason why I was there. I hate going to the E.R. It pisses me off at the ignorance and stereotyping that we have to put up with to get the medication that we need. Drug testing for employment for example… nevertheless what most of these people don’t know is that the majority of us who are on methadone are not all just “heron junkies “ yeah I guess that there is some people who that is the case but regardless those people don’t deserve the discrimination and stereotyping neither we are all human beings and we all make mistakes. I personally got myself into the situation where I needed to get on methadone because I had an injury and needed pain management and I got physically dependent on them . I wasn’t taking them to “ get high” or even abusing them. I was taking them as prescribed but I still got physical dependent on them and when I tried to get off of them I went through the same hell as someone who was a heron addict and ran out …. It was no different. When you go 3-4 weeks without being able to eat and puking bile up all day and night and can’t even keep liquids down, what you don’t puke up is coming out the other end as constant diarrhea, I cannot stand it when I hear people and even Doctors say you can’t die from cold turkey…. Bull shit … yeah technically when you die it will be dehydration and malnutrition or seizures or all of the above that is listed as the “ cause of death “ but when cold turkey caused this to happen in my opinion it’s semantics to say that… but my point was that it doesn’t matter if it’s heron or hydrocodone prescribed from a doctor the end results are pretty much identical and methadone can get you out of that kind of situation and keep you from getting back into that situation so I think the regulations should be more slack and educate people that we are not getting high on methadone so people stop discriminating against it.

      Bupe first, then Suboxone.....too easy to get a script for either imo....Took me much longer
      to taper off Suboxone .Sticks to receptors like Gorrila glue.Spent 2yrs tapering down to .25mg, and then l went through grief for months. Coming off gear is much easier,admittedly after you are in the right mental state to do so.Long term use, long term clean,reconnected with children,grands and successful in my enterprises.

    • @geekinhard343
      @geekinhard343 10 месяцев назад

      I've also seen methadone pills where people can take home a months worth. But it's much harder to get than suboxone. It's almost too easy to get suboxone. You could easily get it without an opiate problem. You gotta make it easy to save more lives. But you gotta be sure they need it.

    • @barbarafeinman-yu3nr
      @barbarafeinman-yu3nr 9 месяцев назад +7

      That’s the point. For some people, Methadone works better than Suboxone. But, requiring someone to go to a clinic almost every day (the law does permit take home Methadone after you’ve been on it awhile, but not as freely as Suboxone) inhibits users to go on Methadone. Methadone should be available with a prescription from a doctor, just as Suboxone is. For some people Methadone works better than Suboxone. And, it’s not fair to require people to go in so often to get their Methadone. It interferes with their ability to get a job or raise children.

    • @lottedunnell1906
      @lottedunnell1906 9 месяцев назад

      @@barbarafeinman-yu3nr This is incredibly true. I am one of the people who took Methadone as it worked far better for me as Subutex gave me an odd, high feeling. They do give take home doses after a while when some trust has been built. Hit the nail on the head, perfectly.

    We need more methadone maintenance clinics not everyone can get to the clinic i done it for about 10yrs i drove around Trip of 63 miles I only had to return twice a month i took a morphine pill and dropped dirty so I had to return to the clinic every day until I earned some days off but I didn't have the Ride to return everyday so since November 27 I haven't been able to get back to the Methadone maintenance clinic so I have been taking pills and selling everything i have just to be and feel normal. I don't have a driver license and I drove myself back and forth for about 5+ years and my vehicle died so I'm going to have to take a chance and get a car and drive back and forth again just to try and beat this sickness please open more clinics they're needed I've seen people coming to the clinic and then can't get to the clinic anymore and they have died because of not being able to get to the clinic 😢 you must open more clinics things are a lot different than the 1960's and 1970's a lot worse today than when it was the past Please open more Methadone maintenance treatment programs Update I'm Back to the Methadone maintenance treatment program it's changed it's rules a little bit but more clinics are Still Needed. @bekeneel 7 месяцев назад

      Maybe but there are plenty of alternatives really for pain. Also methadon is incredibly hard to get off from, very long & slow tapering. So I don't see why you would wanna put someone on a medication like that, unless they're like dying already. If it works to get ppl off heroin it's good, however some even still combine it with heroin.. That's why buprenorfin is ideal, and safer. Let me know if you have any other questions, my expert advice is free of charge..

      Every time a doctor finds out I'm on methadone they tell me how I'm going to overdose and prescribe me narcane,in a
      needle, wtf? Oh , I'm overdosing, let me give myself a shot while I'm dying, lol.
      I've lived with testicular pain since puberty. Numerous specialists haven't figured it out. It took until I was 35 before I tried pain medication. I've been on methadone for 20 years, the same dose and it has kept me from killing myself due to the pain, constant pain!! Not to mention that it is 50 dollars a month compared to 750 dollars a month. I love my doctor and his courage to prescribe me the devil's dust. My wife and two children appreciate his courage the most. They have a husband and a father that's not an asshole every day because of pain.

I have a tumor that causes severe pain and they cannot remove it so after exhausting all other avenues, my pain, doctor suggested methadone and it took several days to get the dosing right but once the dosing was correct, it stopped the pain 100%, I’ve also come off of it before completely had zero problem coming off it I just went very slow 2 1/2 mg a month

    I have broken numerous bones from snowboarding and motocross. I got hit by a car back in June on my bike. I started using fentanyl because they wouldn’t give me anything at the hospital. I went to a methadone clinic to get my problem taken care of. I was doing well on the methadone and then I had to go to jail for driving without a license where they pulled me off methadone while I had Covid and it was the cruelest experience ever. I have wanted to go back to the methadone clinic but the fact that you have to go every day and they start you at 30 mg is ridiculous and it makes it so a lot of attics can’t get the treatment they need..

It's very important to understand that methadone is a temporary fix that helps you to do the work necessary to reduce your pain. Ultimately you need to go into this with a preconceived idea of how long you plan to stay on it, and how you will get off of it as well.

    Methadone on a proper dose will also block other opioids from binding to your receptors because they are “full” and methadone has a higher affinity than short acting opioids. That’s why there’s the term a “blockade dose”

    The clinic I had to go to was crap. From a fent addiction they would only put me on a 21 day detox at 40mg of methadone to zero. 40mg was way too little so withdrawal the whole time, 2 relapses of using . Went back and they put me on another 21 day, same dose. That time my tolerance had dropped to where 40 had me feeling fine, but the last 4 days I started withdrawal, and when the 21 days was over, sever withdrawal for the next 10 days, did not let up until after day 10. So day 11 still withdrawal but little Improvement. Now I took kratom to help those withdrawal, now I'm hooked on that, only used for a few weeks but I can feel it's teeth. Now I'm doing a taper off of that on my own. I needed a slower taper. The clinic just messed me up even more.

    We all have in the Netherlands compulsory health insurance here. This means that we have to pay approximately 100 euros for this every month and at the beginning of a new year (usually in February) we have to pay another 375 euros, even if you have no work but a social assistance benefit of +/-1000 euros. costs for rental properties can easily reach 600 euros. This health insurance is the reason that most medicines look free but we already paid for them.

A dose of 20 mg can stop even the worst withdrawal but most people start at 40+45 mg. And most clinics keep going up on dose and hooked again

    Methadone works if you are serious. A lot of ppl on methadone continue to use for years
    The biggest issue is there’s not many of them so you can be there for hours some days waiting in line and they make you do pointless group sessions at some places
    But I’d say the main reason they are strict with it is bc giving an addict a 30 day supply of methadone is not a good idea.
