Thanks for the review. I'm a little relieved to see the more serious face looks better than in the photos. I preordered him and I keep going back and forth on whether to keep the order or cancel it. I feel like you really nailed it. This seems like one of those figures that I'll like quite a bit but feel like he was priced too high.
I'm so glad the review has helped! That's exactly what I am hoping for. Please come back when (if?) you go ahead and get one and let me know your thoughts when you've got him in hand. :)
For being a Comic-Con exclusive, I kind of expected a little bit more bells and whistles. Maybe the missile off the Havoc when he was going all berserker mode when Beachhead told him to take out that hiss tank.
Yeah - that's the key thing here really. Chuckles is a solid figure, got loads of personality, and fun. BUT, he's over-priced - there's not enough "bells & whistles" as you say to truly feel like he's next level. I am charmed by him though, and I've been playing with him A LOT this last few days.
Awesome! I'm all about the childhood nostalgia with this line. Swing back by these parts when you get him in hand and let me know what your thoughts are :)
@@MoDXtraGC I definitely will. But I have no doubt I will like him because, you know, first Joe of my life and all. Will have a blast placing him next to the original.
Thanks man. I appreciated you taking the time to watch & comment. Always good for a comments natter with the folks who watch my stuff - you're welcome anytime :)
I find that Chuckles' accessories are a bit of a mixed bag. A bunch of them look really fun like solid world building stuff, but the execution on others has them destined for an extra stuff box. As a premium deluxe figure he does seem a bit lacking compared to other offerings.
Yep. You are 100% correct regarding Soundblaster. Don't quote me on this, but I'm reasonably certain that the accessory was confirmed by one of the Hasbro team (Lenny or Emily maybe?) during an interview at their stand at SDCC. Or possibly the panel they did. I'm not 100% on that though, but may explain why you're hearing that said all over. Thanks for watching, and thanks for taking the time to comment :)
Ha! I keep saying over & over I should check these things before I go running my mouth on tape, then I get to recording and... well... never quite do LOL
Looks much better in hand than the renders suggested....it actually looks great I might even try to find this guy should he come up locally.....really it's the shipping and import fees that make him less appealing to me at the moment.....shame really your review has kind of sold me on him
Hi Scott. That's awesome - I love hearing that my reviews have helped someone make a decision. He's a real charming figure so I think you're making a sound choice... if your budget allows, which is the key thing with this guy really. :)
How do you feel about this “retro” line? I’m concerned we’ll get more 5 figure waves with fewer new figures and more repaints… not to mention that the current Walmart retro failed with distribution and the peg hooks are FULL of figures. I think Hasbro might regret this decision. (Anyhow… good conversation piece for your discord or other ppl!)
I'm in two minds about it. I like the Duke & Scarlett for example - I'm into the idea of getting variant choice that can appeal to different desires & tastes from the line, but I'm bummed that they've named the retro Snow Serpent so soon after the deluxe release and feeling a bit trapped because I'm not a fan of doubling up on characters (Even army builders, I have very few troopers built up). I got both Crimson Guards and in hindsight I'm not so sure about the decision from a financial POV. The peg warming issue is not as prevalent over here in the UK, we see the occasional thing get discounted down but generally its not something we see quite as much as over in NA. So... I don't know really.
@@MoDXtraGCI totally understand… it’s a wait and see. This does give collectors a chance to cycle back and get a few early/piloted characters fixed.. Scarlett (looks amazing).. Duke sure…. CoCo will hit big too…. (Blue Breaker would be a hit!) this line is also a good place to sell a simpler Serpentor or Dr Mindbender one day.. I think they should have named this line Classified Classic…. Sounds better than retro! 🤷🏼♂️ Which name reveal & which render was your favorite?
Right there with you. He doesn't justify the price in any way, in my eyes. This is the Joe team capitalizing on nostalgia, in the worst possible way. I'm not sure the hype has been higher for any other, stand-alone figure in the line and, arguably, this kind of fell flat. He's still a good figure and a nice addition to the line, but he could have been released at retail for less than the "deluxe" price.
That's the heart of it Ian. Like I say in the review - I'm charmed by him and think he's a solid figure, but do feel a pang of pain when I think of that higher bill. After so recently picking up Trip Wire, Snow Serpent, Snow Job etc it just doesn't compare so favourably when you consider the simple mathematics comparison of what's in the box.
I agree it's a cool figure but way over priced for what it has to offer. Wish his accessories were much better than what Hasbro included. Great unboxing and honest review 👍
Dont get me wrong i like Chuckles but I found him to be way too expensive for what we got. Sure the box was interesting but it just added to the overall price of this figure. I really wasnt impressed by his accessories : the flower didnt look like what it waa suppose to look like ,his sunglasses didnt fit well on my figure and transformer walkman wasnt that great and dont get be started on those crappy earphones....wish the brief case had more paint apps to make it pop.
I agree. I would have just preferred a standard mainline release because all I’ve really used is the fig and the hand swaps since I’ve got him. Well… occasionally the briefcase too. I don’t keep boxes so that element of the “deluxe” or “convention” doesn’t really interest me beyond the initial cracking open.
I think it's a much better MSRP than every other deluxe set. He shouldn't have been a convention exclusive but then again neither should mindbender or serpentor have been. the crimson strike team 3 pack has no right charging 90 dollars for 3 previously released figures in red with some alternate expression heads for one of them.
Thanks guys - appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the figure. I love hearing from folks on this stuff so please keep it coming. Hope to see you both around here again sometime :)
Cool Figure.. not cool price. I would prefer cooler stuff and a more basic package!! We need to COMPLAIN more… complain.. new Firefly, complain…window pkg return, complain…. Retro line, complain.. slow down the releases to go easy on wallet.. Hasbro always conforms to its fans…. We need to demand better!
A Dune fan? I think the figure is solid, but I agree at the price. He's too expensive for what's involved with this particular release. Thanks for commenting. Love hearing people's thoughts. Come back soon :)

Sure thing. I mostly use a Canon M200 (that’s what I used for this vid) although I also use my iPhone 14 pretty regular too.
Hope that helps 🤘🏼

That's it in a nutshell Jake - you're right on the money there. They're fun, and charming, but not truly worth the price tag and "exclusive" label.
Its funny everyone think its Soundwave but Soundwave is blue but sound blaster was black so in my eyes that's soundblaster
