Great review, Chris. As for me, why would I watch other inferior reviews when yours is on the way? What happened to your time travel effect with your hands? I miss it. Just film one clip then edit into every video. Just a thought
You are too kind Colonel :) I can re-introduce the time travel effect for sure. It's not been retired, I just do it on the fly whenever the urge takes me LOL
Just like metalhead I was super excited for this character. But I'm definitely not a fan of those wings I know it looks like the one in the energon universe but I'm sure somebody is going to have a set of traditional set of wings for him soon
Yeah - someone will get a 3D printed set done for sure. Or a mod kit of some kind to work with the Neca Gargoyle wings. I think they look OK the way I've turned them around, but they could be better for sure. :)
Awesome review and well rounded and thoughtful as ever. I passed but can totally understand why so many collectors were excited for this guy. Shame they didn't think out the swords and gripping hands a bit better.
I do love this figure quite a bit! My torso is wobbly too. The swords do fit odd in his hands. The ankle articulation does go further forward. Swivel to the side a bit and the hinge will move past that catch. The wings are an odd ball interpretation other than the big ole gargoyle style from Sunbow. I’m happy with either. More crunch would be nice. I wanted another 1/8-1/4” taller. He does look down on Sarge but I wanted him noticeably taller than Serpentor. I have had lots of fun with this guy. I think some of the shielding wings poses work. Hang him upside down for a creepy winged menace look. I like the armored look for his head which they ran with a bit in the comics I think. I bought two to have more of those minions. I greatly enjoy the cephalopod and the wings are growing on me as a beast separate as well. I wanted flanking cephalopods. Looks great. I made veiny sword holders out of the purple packaging material that came with the figure. The new sword holders allow the swords to store on his back on either side of the backpack. Look cool with the hooks poking out.
You're a fan prophet! That's great to hear. Thanks for giving your view - it's great to get a broader view beyond my disappointment. It seems like our criticisms are the same, but they've impacted your enjoyment less than mine, which is great to hear! :)
I have to give a huge shout out to my good buddy Ken who managed to grab 2 of these and called me as soon as they arrived ......it's a fun addition to the shelf and I'm happy to have and can now look forward to a couple of future releases to fill out the Cobra La shelf which would have been lacking without this guy great review as always Chris and thanks for the info. I was not aware of his Flash Fandom and had wrongly assumed he was an old school Zeus fan and or worshiper so good form on correcting me in that assumption 😂
High five for Ken! Legend! Always happy to share my extensive and extremely accurate GI Joe lore Scott ;) Can't wait to see what they do with Pythona in those future releases...
The way you pose the wings might make balancing him more difficult. As others have mentioned he's got more forward movement in his ankles once you work them past that armour ridge in the front. Once you get that working I find it helps a lot if you use the butterfly joint in the wings to help pose them forward more to offset the weight on his back. He's tricky to pose but it's possible once you get the hang of it.
That could be the case - although I found him tricky with them either way to be honest. I've had a little tinker to get a little more movement out of the ankles and he's a wee bit better for it now, but not by much I've found. I'll keep at it... maybe get a little heat on them. I'll keep practicing, I've got a couple of ideas of some shelf displays I want to try with him. Plus - he's been on a flight stand since I recorded this and you can do much more with that. Thanks for the suggestions Jake - appreciate you as always my man :)
He looks okay , greatly detailed but I think he should have been taller a bit thinner and I wish they gave him wings as big as the Neca Gargoyle figures. Maybe if hasbro makes a retro version of him they will address my complaints😊 Lenny mentioned that the second head with the extra Bone on his head grows when he needs extra head protection
I think I could forgive some of the articulation frustration if the wings were different. Big ol' NECA Gargoyle size would have been perfect. I agree some more height wouldn't have gone a miss either. Style over substance this one :(
I swivelled around at the shoulder AND swivelled at the "elbow". They're pegged in so can go around a full 360. There's a little bit of sculpt shape at the "elbow" that you have to be mindful of, but it's easy enough to do. Let me know how you get on. :)
Great review Chris, and I have to agree, there is something just off with this figure. Not sure if the wings needed extra paint apps, or maybe it's the colour palette used for the figure that just clashes, or maybe it's the awful looking sword holsters that just stand out to much, but this figures just doesn't work visually for me.
Thanks Jono. It's hard to completely put the finger on it, but I think it's mostly the limitations of the articulation for me overall. If I could do a bit more with the pose then stuff like the sword holsters would stand out less if the bigger picture impact was better. Maybe?
I'd have liked a little more thought to go into those forearm blades - they are aesthetically accurate but would have been nice to do a bit more with them and make them a bit more of a focal point...
Agreed theres a lot that Id have done different....for instance I would have liked for him to be taller than Serpentor and a little more heroric in terms of the torso build more athletic rather than just bulky but after removing the bacon blade sheathes he looks a bit better I still would have prefered classic style bat.....dragon.....demon like wings
The ankles actually get better range than I originally thought as well I just heated him up a bit and they do push past the shin mold much better than I thought they would

The wings look awesome 👌🏽 this way!

Interesting to look at, but not quite there with the implementation sadly :(

I haven’t gotten around to unboxing mine yet but will soon. Great vid as always!!
Thanks man.
How have you not unboxed him yet!?! I have no patience and crack stuff open asap LOL
I wish I'd seen this before i ordered him.I haven't loved this figure as much as I'd hoped when they first showed him.
I think we're all feeling that Curtis - the expectations were high and he landed under the bar sadly :(

How did u fix the wings?

I don't think my Nemesis whatever he's called these days needs swords......he's got the spikey things on his forearms.......no?

Terrible figure
So... not a fan?
