Maybe: Select Vray Lights first, Turn ON the button above type. Otherwise I can't help. Should work.

I found out what was wrong. The Modifiers tab was not selected. You can create a light and pick the mesh option, but the modifier tab may not be activated, hence, the "Pick Mesh" button is not enabled. Pick mesh creates a modifier.

Forester, Click the icon at the Bottom Left of the Vray Frame Buffer.

Put your (mouse) cursor at the edge of the window, and drag the window to the right. This hides the second panel.. If you drag to the left you can open more windows.
