Omg, yesterday I visited my parents (not been there in ages cos of lockdown) and cleaned an aquarium with white clouds. So much algae it was crazy but hundreds of baby blue shrimps everywhere!
my 55 exploded, what i could save had to go into my pea puffer 20gal...the puffers arent happy... lucky a lot of the 55 was empty of fish cause it was mostly my winter guppy storage and i have my tubs set up, but it did have clown killis and panda cories...:/
@@treasuringpricelesstime5962 If you have goldfish or fish that love to eat plants, you can legit just rip big clumps off and throw it in the tank with the fish that will eat plants, and they will devour this stuff in no time flat. i do it with guppy grass, and with hornwort for my goldfish when they are inside for the winter lol they will eat a 30g tank full in 20 min, my mind literally cannot comprehend it lol its easy to control tho, you just may have to cut it back once or twice a week which shocks most people.

I have a guppy grass tank like this full of Norman's lampeye killies. You can't even see through the guppy grass but I just keep putting baby brine shrimp and grindal worms in there and every couple weeks I'll pull out 20-30 fry. My Elassoma okefenokee tank is the same but with anacharis instead off guppy grass

I have been having issues with motivation, sorry they have been sporadic. I have also been spendign TONS of time outdoors, and just haven't felt like filming. I will do better!

Guppy grass 😩 Who knew it could be evasive? Me that's who. Beautiful ending😊 Going on the 5th day of rain. I have been scraping algea and thinning plants out myself. I did find another goldline pencil fish. That's one good thing about letting plants take over.
I love that people have been scaping from scratch. I bought a bunch of crap years ago and idk when the last time I bought any fish supplies except frozen food and pellets. I guess I've always just scaped from scrap lol

We sadly just lost our beloved 72 bowfront to a silicone mishap. Thank god we were home and saved all the fish and plants, but really was down and out about the hobby for the past week. Your videos always make me want to get back on the horse when the going gets though though! - Thanks as always

My guppy grass grew a lot too,however I Stopped feeding the snails algae wafers to help reduce the abundance of detritus worms and now the snails are eating the grass.

I hold a grudge against guppy grass. It kept taking over my tiny aquarium during college and I never had the time to properly remove it and rescape the tank. One day one of the fish died after giving birth and I didn’t notice since I couldn’t see into the tank. The subsequent ammonia spike and algae colonization eventually ruined everything.

Hi Rachael..just a quick question..recently I have lost quite a lot of Ancistrus plecos-181 183 lemon blue eyes, super reds etc due to internal parasites. After at least month struggle, I've sorted the parasites issue, now they are dying as such no reason..water parameters other than nitrate is 0..nitrate around 40. Weekly 50% water change. I feed them ebo spirunila and some pleco wafers.. Question is..is it due to too much protein in their food that they die now? What is the best food for Ancistrus? Many thanks.

Don't wait. A lot of people (like me) are setting up backyard ponds right now and it is difficult to find aquatic plants. I bought a lot of my plants from eBay sellers.

I'm disabled I don't drive anymore so I'd like to buy some Guppie Grass, the nearest Pet Store is about 20 miles away and they never have Guppie Grass.

A week later and they are still super picky as a group about eating, however there are 2 or 3 larger ones which seem to be eating better. Any foods you know of that worked well for your babies? I've tried green beans, fish flake, algae pellets etc with little to no interest and they are beginning to worry me a little.. it's especially important I try to get it right, their parents had a nitrite spike and I worry theyll soon die after a few weeks of inactivity 😭
This made me laugh because I have a tank just like this, add one little strand of guppy grass and need to fight a losing battle with forever. It's like the greatest utilitarian plant, but terrible to try and scape with, it basically killed my mosses by outcompeting them to the extreme

They are egg layers, she is in breeding dress though which is why her belly is all fired up

not right now, they weren't selling and my adults aged out. Just working with spixis at the moment. I will return to them, I always do.
