Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis "the wise"? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. This is the most horrifying and resonant type of evil, not the angry, shrieking lunatic, but the quiet, calculating and intelligent manipulator who knows how to hurt you the most in all the worst ways they've studied about you for their own sadistic obsession.
One thing I admire about the Original Trilogy is how the movies portrayed Vader to be THE villain in the beginning, but then we find out that he is someone who is under the influence of the dark side and is actually suffering. The Emperor is the person behind all of it and is the actual, main villain. It isn’t until the prequels where we see how it all started.
The best music for the most powerful Sith Lord in all Star Wars, canon and Legends. Lucas created a great character. Edit: who’s here today because they finished watching the Rise of Skywalker?
I disagree as to whether he was the most powerful Sith Lord, the top two would be Vitiate (from the Legends canon)....and Darth Vader prior to The Suit.
Sxthis Perhaps when he was trapped within the metal husk we have seen him in, but before that? Not to mention the staggering potential that everyone credited the man for having.
Luke: Your overconfidence is your weakness. Palpatine: Your faith in your friends is yours. Luke: Faith in yo' mama. Palpatine: What did you say?! Vader: OOOOOHH YO MAMA FIGHT!

Emperor Palpatine truly appeared in the third movie of each trilogy. Original Trilogy: We see Palpatine in person for the first time in the third movie. Prequel Trilogy: We see Palpatine as the deformed person and him carrying out his plans for the first time in front of the Jedi since he was exposed in the third movie. Sequel Trilogy: We see Palpatine (somehow) return in the third movie.
I believe John Williams knew that Rey’s Parent (or should I say grandparent) was Palpatine, and so Rey’s Theme is more and less a Motif of Palpatine’s theme.
5:15 always gives me the chills.... I first heard it when I was playing Star Wars: Clone Wars on the OG Xbox as a kid. It really stuck out near the end of the Raxus Prime missions, especially before Dooku flees the planet and leaves behind a Protodeka to cause serious problems for you. I wish my old disc still worked. It's super awesome to hear it in the movies, too, knowing they were where such a chilling piece came from.
“You won’t be needing your lightsaber any more young Skywalker. Shame really. Given time I could’ve taught you to use your anger in ways you could never imagine.” “Give me my lightsaber, and I’ll show you what I can imagine.” “*Chuckles. You should be honored, you’ll be the first Jedi in a thousand years to feel the effects of the harvester, your life force will be absorbed along with everything else in this forest. And then I’ll use that power to destroy the republic you fought so hard to defend.”
@@naisagathefirstdestronmand8559 Exactly this! Thanks for the nostalgia shot, I could hear it Dooku's voice in my head as I read it! May the force be with you!
I don't think Star Wars would be as awesome as it is without this amazing music to back it up! Seriously, almost every sound brings shivers down my spine :D
Ok but the refrain in this just suits Palpatine so well. Like, it’s perfect for the ultimate evil that supremely outclasses the hero in power. Bombastic and sinister, like every single thing you fight for going up in smoke.
Emperor Sheev Palpatine will forever be perhaps the greatest villain to ever exist as a character. Now, all the so called villains in every movie is toned back from their evil potential because they don’t want to “scare” people too badly. That’s what a real villain is supposed to do! And that is exactly what Palpatine does every time he’s on screen. He gives you chills, goosebumps. He makes you sit on the end of your seat. He is evil at its finest. The best villain, in my opinion.
The Emperor is one of, if not THE best villains in media. He is what I think of when I hear the word "villain". His character, his looks, and his personality all have one thing in common: Pure evil.

6:07 "Everyone you have betrayed." - Senya Tyrall "Everyone you have Manipulated " - Kira Carsen "Everyone you murdered." - Meetra Surik "The Force seeks balance. Always" - Revan
Palpatine will always be my favorite Star Wars character. He caused a war where he manipulated both sides to wear down the Jedi, pulling the strings right in front of them, to deliver the final blow with Order 66. He ruled much of a galaxy with an iron fist for 20. The remaining Jedi were turned into the Inquisitors, their throwaway executioners to hunt down the last Jedi. He devised a contingency plan to destroy and reform the Empire as the First Order. He partially achieved his goal of cheating death with his master Plagueis's ability to transfer the soul to another body, transferring his soul to a clone body. While Operation Cinder was taking place, he hid in Exegol, in the unknown regions, using the Sith Eternal Cult and their offspring, the resources accumulated during the Empire and those that his homunculus Snoke sent him once the First Order was consolidated to prepare for 30 years his revenge with the Final Order. Palpatine is not 2 steps above you, he's 20 steps above you. He can plan everything with decades of anticipation and all happen as he planed, and even if the things do not happen like he wants, Palpatine still have an Ace under his sleeve. I know that many people didn't like the explanations in Episode 9 about how Palpatine returned and the construction of the Sith Fleet, but I personally don't mind

This is the most horrifying and resonant type of evil, not the angry, shrieking lunatic, but the quiet, calculating and intelligent manipulator who knows how to hurt you the most in all the worst ways they've studied about you for their own sadistic obsession.
A master manipulator, powerful supervillain, and meme machine.
Where can I find more villains like this?
Not from a Disney

Look to Washington DC and the owners of major banks.

Potentially the most wicked character in all of pop fiction
Mace Windu: Palpatine is a Sith Lord.
Palpatine: Unfortunately, the senate will not see it that way.
The best music for the most powerful Sith Lord in all Star Wars, canon and Legends. Lucas created a great character.
Edit: who’s here today because they finished watching the Rise of Skywalker?
John Williams made him cool, though
I disagree as to whether he was the most powerful Sith Lord, the top two would be Vitiate (from the Legends canon)....and Darth Vader prior to The Suit.
@@Robert_Douglass Vader is far weaker than sidious

Emperor Palpatine truly appeared in the third movie of each trilogy.
Original Trilogy: We see Palpatine in person for the first time in the third movie.
Prequel Trilogy: We see Palpatine as the deformed person and him carrying out his plans for the first time in front of the Jedi since he was exposed in the third movie.
Sequel Trilogy: We see Palpatine (somehow) return in the third movie.
The sequel trilogy was canceled and scrapped for some shitty feminist fan fiction
F for the emperor on “ The rise of Palpatine”

Given time I could’ve taught you to use your anger in ways you could never imagine.”
“Give me my lightsaber, and I’ll show you what I can imagine.”

Seriously, almost every sound brings shivers down my spine :D
It's clearly impossible to find a dark theme as powerfull as it
Ok but the refrain in this just suits Palpatine so well. Like, it’s perfect for the ultimate evil that supremely outclasses the hero in power. Bombastic and sinister, like every single thing you fight for going up in smoke.
Fellow Imperials, our Emperor has returned !
Deus Vult!
Thank you, thank you!
When your trying to execute order 66 but some crazy frog on ketamine starts spinning like a beyblade at you
The Emperor is one of, if not THE best villains in media.
He is what I think of when I hear the word "villain".
His character, his looks, and his personality all have one thing in common:
Pure evil.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
is it possible to learn this power?
Not from a jedi.
A shame the version from The Clone Wars isn't in there, but then again, that was never released. Some of the best tracks The Clone Wars had were never released, like that soundtrack from Trespass.
Do you remember which episode? Would like to hear it.
I love how this theme not only sounds good, but strikes fear into people’s hearts just like Palpatine.
Whenever I wear a black sweatshirt with the hood on..

"Everyone you have betrayed."

"Everyone you have Manipulated "
- Kira Carsen
"Everyone you murdered."

"The Force seeks balance. Always"
