If it has come to operating a surveillance state in order to keep schoolkids safe, then we have failed as a nation. In fact, these police cameras won’t even keep them safe, they’ll just allow law enforcement a first row seat to watch the carnage after it happens.
If the city is going to buy a tiller fire truck, are they going to sell one of the existing trucks? As most calls are for medical assistance rather than actual fires, it seems like a small frame, European fire van would be more practical.
Much of the talk was about utilities and I agree with the council’s push back on rate increases for low users of water. The main point I would address on water is the quality. The water quality in my multi-family complex is poor, and the owners blame Mesa water, when I think it has more to do with weak inspections on new properties because their latest tactic, after a year of every resident complaining, was to flush the pipes and water heaters as we watched all the sludge come out of it. If the pipes and equipment were inspected prior to the certificate of occupancy this could have been avoided.
