Jordan's playing is so transcendental, it overcomes space and time. That's why he was jamming with the ghost of Yngwie Malmsteen in 2095 - which is the future to us, but already the past to Jordan. Wrap your head around that.
Jordan Rudess played with Mike Portnoy in February 2019- Dream Theater's Instrumedley. Jordan jammed with Yngwie in 2005 at the NAMM show. Jordan also played with Deep Purple in early 2020.
The out of the blue, for us the audience, gig with MP last year was for me the most important gig in decades because it mended some of those broken feelings after the long and messy breakup MP had with DT, and was mostly caused by lawyers who refused a lot of things... Anyhow, time has passed, life has gone one and now I feel complete again after Jordan leaked(?) the possible Liquid Tension 3 happening and when that day happens I'll be screaming like a schoolgirl, despite be being old and fat nowadays... ;) I'm a musician who found DT just as they changed their name to DT from Majesty and I became such a fan overnight. Been to many gigs, got all the fanclub CD's and the day MP left I was in hospital after an accident, pretty bad one, and my colleagues sent me flowers. Not because I'd been in a pretty bad accident with a spinal injury, no, but because MP had left DT! There's a picture of me in the hospital briefly after I'd been told MP had left and I've got a face simultaneous confused and grumpy. That and lots of morphine... MP will never play in DT again and I'm cool with that. I've moved on - and we've had some fantastic MP projects, but Liquid Tension Experiment were fantastic albums and here we got to meet Jordan properly for the first time! He'd previously only jumped in at one early show, not very prepared and thus got a bit of stick. (I've got it recorded) Together with Tony Levin from King Crimson, another of my favourite bands, we got the best from all worlds - and now it might happen again!!! I figure you're a crazy fan like me for getting this video happen, and I would've asked the same first question, so thanks for asking - and for posting! 🤘😁🤘
Jordan-huge fan: you're awesome! Three quick questions: what was it like jamming with Mike Portnoy on Instrumedley last year? Did you enjoy jamming with Yngwie Malmsteen at NAMM in 2005? Was it a thrill to jam with Deep Purple, too? Thanks so much :)
I was only introduced to Dream Theatre a year or so ago and as a drummer enjoy watching Mike playing live. One thing I noticed was that Mike and Jordan seemed to have great fun together live and that was probably something that Jordan really missed when Mike left.
Old Gregg well said! You can see the joy in their performance from February 2019 when they performed DT’s Instrumedley. LTE is getting back together late this year/ early next year.
The NAMM show is very crazy but every musician should go at least once it is an amazing experience Hi Jordan met you in Chattanooga last year I was the guy with the low volume drumhead you guys could not of been nicer. Low volume drumheads hitting the stores this fall. :)
this view of the keys really showed me how amazing Jordan is. I tend to not like when a fantastic musician is asked about playing with someone else. Hard to explain, but sometimes it seems like the other musician is made out to be at a higher level. Ask malmsteen what it was like to play with jordan i guess. Maybe i'm thinking about the interviews of band members breaking off trying to promote new music, then asked about what it was like to play with old band members. Hello, i'm right here, can we talk about my new music.
Jordan, love you, man! You playing, attitude and music are incredilbly inspiring! That and you are also an awesome gentleman! Much love from me and my lovely wife!

Jordan is such a bad ass he plays a gig with Yngwie and doesn’t even remember it.

That was the most polite way he could have possibly said that yngwie was a narcissist prick and it wasn't an enjoyable experience lol

Gotta be true...
Had to laugh when he mentioned playing Namm in 2095. I had to play it back to check he said it.
He's like John Petrucci, he plays so fast he can time warp and travel through time XD

Jordan's Cameos are the best!
Who could hit a thumbs down 👎 on this?? Your key playing is amazing Jordan. I’ve been listening to a lot of Dream Theater lately. Good video man. 👍🏼
Maybe a Kevin Moore fanboy...
Jordan doesn't play piano, he IS the piano!!

Anyone know the riff at 0:30? Thanks
Malmsteen does have the reputation of being a bit of a Diva, guess it's true lol
You should do a Mr. Rogers version of one of these. Play some jazz and talk like Mr. Rogers.
Theres a clip of Jordan playing with Yngwie. It was obviously unrehearsed because Yngwie spazzes out when Jordan isn't sure where his cues were.
it is still on You Tube.

I rank you way up there with the likes of [the late] Keith Emerson & Rick Wakeman.

My ultimate question to Jordan Rudess is can he play Jazz...that's all I want to know.
ahhh yes, 2095 was a great year...
G R Hahahaha!
2095
new cyberpunk game confirmed.
Kevin Moore
Oh, those meta-human keyboardists....
Dude give me a break you're a professional so is Portnoy how could you have a hard time
Prefer Jon Lord and Jens Johannson as players, this is too jazzy for me...who's watching in 2095? LOL!
U n corea great keyboardist as u know yjm still plays faster than u
..... hence talk less... n relax !!
Great musician, maybe one the best: but boring as hell :/
