Govt should ban the off-the-plan purchase and put in more regulations and accountabilities on builders and approvers to stop them from taking advantage on vulnerable individuals.
The laws are already there, unfortunately most of these builders are paying the public servants who are supposed to be monitoring the situation to look the other way.
The good old red brickers built solid are the way to go ,very upsetting to see these home owners going through so much stress, im hoping that the government pays them all and forms a investigation into how this problem started and hold these persons as responsible and to be dealt with
Basically buying property is risky. You are putting enormous amounts of money into one place. Apartments are expensive to build & extremely hard to fix. Be cautious
Its the developers and the builders. Please dont blame the vast majority of tradies. They have no choice sometimes. Otherwise they dont get paid. Builders are the worst. Claim bankruptcy but their assets are held in a family trust etc. I see it everyday working in residential and commercial construction.
It's 100% state government negligence, we all lost a lot of money last decade for cladding replacement, which should never happened in the first place.
People’s morals and ethics have gone. No more religious god fearing people. They will sell you expired food at some food outlets even if you’re going to give it your child
Shallow. Heard Surfside Condo in Miami? Heard Iowa Building collapsed recently? Dodgy builders are everywhere especially Australia. Do you need me to list you all the Australian builders that went into liquidation just within this 3 years?
If ever there should be a Royal Commission it should be into the building industry. Its been like this for decades. What are the authorities that are in charge doing? In other words WHAT IS THEIR JOB DESCRIPTION!
If she did her research she would not buy the apartment knowing it was built by Top Place. Having said that Nasiff need to be brought to justice and building regulation need to be tightened.
Privatization of any essential service is a disaster - years fighting electricity privatization, as an ETU union organizer. Government Inspections do not exist for building/construction electrical & plumbing. Building certifiers are paid by the builder - what could possibly go wrong. Our man interviewed - "government made disaster" - spot on.
The actual workers who built the place should also be responsible and liable like the developers themselves... They are the ones pouring the slab, water proofing the place etc... Shame on those who do crappy work which affects everyone..

A construction official said she wouldn't buy a condo younger than 20 years old.
anything to do with immigration flow?
Oh well, those politicians r on the payroll of those dodgy developers/builders. What do you expect?
This is the perfect example of how to live simply and efficiently!

It's pretty straightforward. Reverse privatisation of surveyors.
They will just get paid off.
Property developers should be vetted properly by councils but instead councils take bribes from corrupt property developers to get DA approvals.

It's a bottom place to live. The whole country is.
This is terrible, feel sorry for these people. Where are the inspectors, as they approve these buildings.
Taking cash indirectly to look the other way.
At inspection stage it is too late. The builders need to face jailed for risking peoples lives.

Government don't care
They provide only a perception of care. It's all about perception. Like Ukraine.
That's a building you should find in china not a Australia 😮 who signed of on the safety of these building should be also accountable

Chinese building quality is way better than Oz building 😂
@@weshbien9540 I agree. They should be running the country.
The building inspection tick these of they should be jailed
Why is the problem, so common with residential buildings but not commercial buildings?
Commercial you are messing with people with money. Residential usually don't have deep pockets.

Govt helped themselves to the stamp duty
High property prices means more borrowings. More interest payments and of course higher stamp duty costs.
If they all protested on the street maybe things might get done.
It’s proven that protests don’t work anymore. The news outlet will just start a new breaking story on that day of the protest
What did the lockdown protests achieve. Nothing. Protesting is expelling hot air.

Worked on a construction site with some amateurs. I shocked from what I saw
Yeah they're still out there building garbage.
money talks
