Govt should ban the off-the-plan purchase and put in more regulations and accountabilities on builders and approvers to stop them from taking advantage on vulnerable individuals.

The laws are already there, unfortunately most of these builders are paying the public servants who are supposed to be monitoring the situation to look the other way.

It's pretty straightforward. Reverse privatisation of surveyors.

Property developers should be vetted properly by councils but instead councils take bribes from corrupt property developers to get DA approvals.

The good old red brickers built solid are the way to go ,very upsetting to see these home owners going through so much stress, im hoping that the government pays them all and forms a investigation into how this problem started and hold these persons as responsible and to be dealt with

Basically buying property is risky. You are putting enormous amounts of money into one place. Apartments are expensive to build & extremely hard to fix. Be cautious

At inspection stage it is too late. The builders need to face jailed for risking peoples lives.

Its the developers and the builders. Please dont blame the vast majority of tradies. They have no choice sometimes. Otherwise they dont get paid. Builders are the worst. Claim bankruptcy but their assets are held in a family trust etc.
I see it everyday working in residential and commercial construction.

It's 100% state government negligence, we all lost a lot of money last decade for cladding replacement, which should never happened in the first place.

If she did her research she would not buy the apartment knowing it was built by Top Place. Having said that Nasiff need to be brought to justice and building regulation need to be tightened.

Privatization of any essential service is a disaster - years fighting electricity privatization, as an ETU union organizer. Government Inspections do not exist for building/construction electrical & plumbing. Building certifiers are paid by the builder - what could possibly go wrong. Our man interviewed - "government made disaster" - spot on.
