OMG, Someone is on the same level as I am. The reason you want to warm up your vehicle is to get all your fluids up to temperature before you rip those gears. It protects your engine in the long run.
I disagree, respectfully. I start my motorcycle in the morning, let the idle settle for about six seconds, and then ride slow for about half a mile to the freeway. I'm getting more miles per gallon and the load on the engine is getting the bike up to operating temperature quicker than letting the bike sit for minutes at a time like my neighbor does.
@@dougfreeze ok, small engine with High RPM's that is fuel injected can do that. Your bike clearly can go over 10,000 rpms while a big block engine will never reach the rpms your bike has. So you are correct on that part. Take a pan of left over meat grease in it and see how long it takes too liquefy it. That is how long your motor has to take to liquefy it's oil. Same concept just a different scenario.
Thanks for the early review. I was really looking forward to someone reviewing the 2022. I really wished you took it on more turns. I don't think the bike is meant for highway driving, at least that is not what I would be looking to do. Also, your review really focused on how much you like it and not how the changes feel in riding. I know you said is felt no difference, but I'm sure the 17" rims and lower height would have some impact if you are riding it in the twisties. Again, I do appreciate the early review.
Actually, I got the 2019 RR, it is tall in the seat for me. Boots help. One foot down works. The rake n trail are difficult to turn around in grass gravel sand. There was nothing to grab to pick up in rear. Added rear rack n messenger bag rack. I think this RR model is only designed for road. Newer changes of models are worth researching your own desire. Just like all the options of the new Chief.
I hate negative comments on the internet as it’s so much easier to just move on and keep your mouth shut, but I couldn’t help thinking the same thing. Every time I watch one this guys videos he’s just going straight on a highway getting passed by Camrys. Took him 14 min in to the vid to for him to get the bike above 70 mph lol. Liven up your riding a bit man, common.
Funny, I've always just understood that you need to warm up motorcycles because even "low performance" motors in the two wheeled world are high performance relative to the automotive world. If you want your machine to last, getting the oil warm and flowing before you put a load on it.
I start my motorcycle in the morning, let the idle settle for about six seconds, and then ride slow (less than 2000 RPM) for about half a mile to the freeway. I'm getting more miles per gallon and the load on the engine is getting the bike up to operating temperature quicker than letting the bike sit for minutes at a time like my neighbor does.
as someone whos ridden both the mt09 is a little softer and smoother where as the ftr is a little more hard edged but its tallish suspension means its not sportbike stiff. its more tippy and taller sitting, comparable torque down low and maybe a little faster when you ring it out but not nearly as smooth. the taller seating position plus better stock for stock suspension tells me this is a going to be a really sweet bike on 17s and now that it has that common size and good rubber available its one of the very few new bikes id actually spend money on. but its not leagues ahead of the 09, the 09 was the only new yamaha i rode that i actually liked.
@HahrtDood I actually owned a Speed Twin. After several warranty issues including getting stuck in 4th gear and breaking the cast that held the right side foot controls I lost all faith in the brand
At one point in time, especially in the time this video was made. Polaris stated, we will only make 750 of these in honor of the FTR race bike's 750 CC size. Then it became a limited number, but less than 1000, then it became a limited number but we like money so we are going to keep adding to this. Do not know why they continued. Supposedly the championship edition was supposed to be only 400 and so far that has not seemed to change. But, that's so far....
@@RabidHedgehog was not messing with ya😂 it just funny how Polaris tricked people, and now they just released a new carbon a bit different color scheme and it has no numbers but who cares. I believe they did. o more then 3000 original carbons 🤷♂️
Im getting ready to sell my KTM 890 adventure to get a white ftrs. It has a parallel twin. I dunno if i would agree that the v is “better” than the parallel. My KTM is just a little too tall for me. Have you ridden or tested a KTM? They are ridiculously fast and fantastic. Breaks my heart to sell it, but cant have so much $ in bikes…lol! KTM is unbelievably good. I hope im making the right decision here…but I want an American made bike from a good patriotic company (not woke HD).
Harley is a bit hard for me to get on without it being a ride event... I kind of worked for the dealers and they kind of know who I am and what I do.... Even if it is a good bike and I like it they are weary as I have slammed some in the past (FXDR for instance), but I am working on a method to do so. Probably a follow the leader kind of deal sadly.... But I am working on it.
The FTR Carbon is a bikers motorcycle made to be ridden on the rough and the smooth I imagine the FTR Carbon will find a bike lovin' public eager to spend money on a machine that says Anyplace, Anywhere.
I like carbon fiber for what it is but I hate the look of the basic gray wavy looking material.....I would take any part and swap it for carbon fiber but it would have to be painted to actually look nice to me anyway.
I would always lean toward the FTR to be honest. I can use 43 degrees of lean vs. 28.5. Ask my floorboards and my now old exhaust on my Chieftain lol. So I would take the lesser fuel capacity and range fire breathing crazy able FTR right now. But seriously that Chief Dark Horse is a riot to ride and the FTR would need to be adopted to it's bonded sibling right?
Any updates on the limited run? When I preordered mine the dealership said they werent doing the numbered plating anymore, but its still on their website. Hope hes wrong
Great tutorial because I am riding safe. Here's the thing, speed is not everything. This motorcycle, as well as many others, are capable of sending it more than double the speed limit. But what's the point? If we're moving faster and they're moving faster, with added distraction of phone, then more likely accidents will occur in which we will lose. With them zooming by me and away they can hit each other while I can respond to the situation they cause ahead. Trust me I have done this many times.
In theory any bike is one that someone could learn on if they are careful and maybe turn the power modes to rain or something not as twitchy. However, I do recommend finding a good starter first, like Scout, Vulcan 900, Suzuki C90 or M90. Something like that size first that does not have the 11 second at 119 MPH quarter mile times as for a new rider to experience that kind of thrust immediately may not be a great idea.
I rode one of the FTR when they first come out and loved it BUT it seemed I was leaning forward on my wrists and arms, it was kind of tiring. Does the new one with the lower suspension give you a little more upright riding position?
Personally the hand grips are so small after a Chieftain; my wrists hurt. Thought I would hafta change or wear padded thick gloves to avoid carpotunnel. Actually changing habits n grip n positions, I do not have that problem

Half of the "technical" commentary in the first part of the video is you talking about "you hafta warm up a high performance engin' up'." You sound like a clown. I have a 400 hp twin turbo V6 car and a 150 hp v twin bike. I don't ride around spending 10 minutes thinking about "warmin' it up." Talk about something else, it's boring.

Agreed - FTR just isn't worth it. Cheaper bikes that are better in almost every aspect. It should be in the realm of 150 bhp , with its current torque rating. I'd take a MT-09/10, STriple, Monster, BMW S1000RR, etc any day over the FTR.
