Just back from Thailand last week. It's the one country that I feel "home" in every time I go back. Food courts are one of the best places to eat for quick, cheap eats in Thailand 🇹🇭❤️
My family always ask why I keep going back to Bangkok. Ive been 6 times and not a travel blogger, so you guys win. But it’s the food, the people and the value for money. You can have a lux stay or a cheap stay and still feel like royalty. With fun things to do and even with its unique smells and energy, it still feels welcoming and fun to me.
You are in Thailand during the annual, 10-day, vegetarian (Je) festival. This festival started mostly in southern Thailand but now takes place across Thailand and is growing in popularity. The festival is a Southeast Asian interpretation of a thousand-year-old Chinese one, the Nine-Gods festival. This is the time when some acolytes (who take a 10-point pledge during the period) pierce their bodies. Phuket is the most famous location for this festival. Eating 'Je' is even stricter than Western vegan as food like onions and garlic are also prohibited (7 foods in total).
@@OskarandDanplease come back next year! You guys can literally find vegan food everywhere especially in yaowarat (the bangkok chinatown) and Phuket old town. There are many street celebrations and events in Thai-Chinese temples and these vegan festive foods are amazing.
MY BELOVED COUPLE CAME BACK!!!❤❤ 6:28 THE CUTEST YET FUNNIEST MASCOT IN THE WORLD!! I am sure you will get shocked at how many people at the grand palace compared to your last time (pandemic) experience.❤
Thai food is divine! You made me laugh when you said IKEA is the true embassies for Sweden around the world! That vegan fair was amazing. The food looked outstanding. Interesting seeing a Thai laundromat. I like Pad Thai. I think malls are different in Asia, especially their food courts. I had no idea Pad Thai is a recent dish, but find it a go to comfort food. Thanks for an informative and well done blog!
So nice, Oskar & Dan, to hear that both of you enjoy our country. As a Thai resident, it's always fun to see what tourists think and feel about our country. Keep coming back more and more. We, Thai people, will always find it a pleasure to welcome you back again, and again, .... and again.
Going to Bangkok and Phuket in a month. Im stoked! This time, I'll get a chance to go dive around Koh Lipe as well. Going on a liveaboard scuba trip during my time there. Like you guys, I keep going back. Something about Thailand that I can't quite put my finger on.
Yay!! My most fav RUclipsrs are back in my country! Welcome back guys. ^^ I'm so glad you enjoyed so many varieties of food and stuff. I'm not vegan, but many of the dishes you ate looked so yummy. By the way, about that IKEA, it is the newest branch IKEA Sukhumvit. It's the first city-center store in Southeast Asia and it's like their new business model. So yeah! It's real! 😊
I assume it will be the kitchen and organazation stuff there to bring home with and the big furniture can be ordered and delivered, I think. Glad to hear that you guys like Thailand my home. Thanks for recommending the vegan sushi place, I will definitely go try.
Next time you come back to Thailand. I recommend that you 'fold your hands together' and say 'Sawaddeekrub' to other Thai people. That will reveal a new level of friendliness among Thai people. Welcome to the land of smiles.
Hi friends! It's so refreshing to see how relaxed the two of you look in this vlog. The pressure is off and you're just enjoying your time in Bangkok now. The food looks amazing, as does the scenery! I hope you're enjoying your travels and soaking in every minute of your new (and upcoming!) adventures. :)
A pleasure, love your approach to travel and really looking forward to what your planned slower pace will bring 😊 Also laugh every time you guys explore each destinations supermarket/grocery stores, my family does the same thing 😂👌
Thank you both of you for coming back krub! And yes that that is a branch for IKEA in the mid of the CBD! Thanks for bringing up about history of pad thai and thai food promotion as a soft power as well! Very well-thought-out!
I gotta be honest, Thai is my favourite food and my favourite dish ever is pad Thai; and tofu/mock meat satay. In the UK when we order Thai we can also order fries which you may thinks is so British of us, but they’re great for dunking in that extra peanut sauce. I’ve only ever been to Phuket but was so so happy with the selection of veggie food. We ate some of the best dishes of our lives there! I can’t wait to see Bangkok one day!
Got married in Bangkok in April 1990 (at the Swedish Embassy) and it was 45C! Our wedding photos were taken at a Chineese photographer with bright yellow background!
I wanted to let you know I followed your recommendation and went to Waki Waki last night in Bangkok. I had the green dragon and miso soup and both were superb. I also shared your video with the server. Thanks again!!
You should try the Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu chain when you get a chance (Michelin bib gourmand). You can get vegan pad thai there and it's the best I've had in Bangkok - it is SUPER smokey with wok hey. They just give you a small portion too but the quality is so high. Much, much better than Thipsamai.
Those shots where you spin around such as at the Bangkok airport can be quite triggering for those of us who have vertigo. You guys are the best, buy maybe there are others with this too.
2:09 IKEA are opening first store in Bangkok at the middle of the city inside shopping mall called The Emsphere this December 2023 (As of now they have store in Nonthaburi / Samutprakarn and Popup store in Phuket)
This was so helpful, fellas. I got a much better sense of what cuisine I'll run into when out and about. The laundry scene was also helpful (why doesn't EVERY guide cover How to do laundry? Or as the Brits say "washing"? I plan on going in December to try to avoid the heat.
Great video guys! We're also full time travelers and will be in Bangkok for the 1st time in Nov for a month+. We're also both vegan & very excited to try some or all of the plant-based options you highlighted in this video. Thanks for the tips!
@@federicob.1394 Thank you, that's very nice. We're staying a little far out (we think), in the Bang Na / Lasalle area. Not too many options there as far as we can see. It looks like we may be heading in to the main part of Bangkok very often (like daily) so we don't starve, lol.
Full IKEA store opening at Empshere later this year. Has a concert hall and is part of the Ems shopping district which includes Emporium and Emquartier.
Awesome to see you both looking so well, whatever changes you've made are definitely working, you're both glowing. Like you I enjoy checking out local supermarkets & after a few disasters with hotel laundries,I enjoy finding one & doing my own; it's more imersive & pushes me to try new words. You guys usually don’t mention “vegan” enough, so I LOVED this video 😆💚 it’s great activism when you show people that it’s possible to be vegan whilst travelling (albeit some countries being slightly more challenging than others 😅) but it’s never impossible! 🥰
20th trip. Thats awesome and a lot. I've late March, Apr, May to plan my Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket trip. Could you please advice is it ok to plan trip from 28th March to 10th April period for these destinations (expectation : less hot/humid and no rain)
IKEA is opening in the EmSphere shopping center 2023.12.01 on like the 6th floor. I was there at EmSphere's grand opening but don't have time to explore above the 3rd floor. Place is amazing though
You're close to us! We're on soi 33 for about a month. Near EmQuartier. Ikea is now in downtown Bangkok and will be part of the new mega mall there. I think opens in a few months?
In Thai we have a Jae festival where you can turn vegan+ for 10 day to accumulate good karma. So we khow how to nail vegan food cuz we have to cook it every year for the festival.
11:08 The weather is hotter than the past few years. Because of global warming (El Niño) and will continue to be hot like this until next year Please maintain your health by carrying drinking water with you wherever you go. to prevent heatstroke And another tip is to wear bright or light colors, not dark colors like black. Or dark blue (navy blue), etc., because these dark colors will absorb sunlight. and absorb heat The more it heats up several times than before.
Love the video!!! 👏 super thankful for the vegan suggestions also ty!!!! That vegan 🌱 sushi 🍱 😭 looks ah mazing!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I SO need to go to Thailand!! 👏
The Ikea is a real store, oart ofbthe Emsphere development, that goes along with th Emporium and Emquartier centres. Also another Apple store and Tesla store opening as well
