We got a puppy

- October 21st 2023, It was time we finally got a puppy. After dog sitting my mums dog quite a few times Denis got used to the idea of having a dog around. Gypsy was such a good dog it was hard not to love her.
I grew up with dogs, mostly English Staffys but also Great Dane x Wolf Hound, Rotties, and maybe a few others so having animals in my life was something I was used too as a kid.
It had been about 25 years since I had a pet dog and so it was perfect timing to commit to having one. Our girl Xena is literally our child now and she is every bit a daddy's girl (rolling my eyes).
Xena was born 8/8/2023 and is an American Staffordshire Terrier. We wanted something a little bigger than an English Staffy because we are on a farm and thought an am staff would be a little more robust then an English Staffy.
Xena has the most beautiful nature, she loves everyone and everything and just wants to play. She isn't dominate and doesn't show any signs of aggression like most people think the breed is prone too. It's all about how the dog is brought up.
We are so grateful to have her in our lives.
Sweet girl. They will change your life. I love my dogs more than I like most people.

What a cute puppy. Train her well. You should start with the basics now, sit, stay, come, it will help her to learn more difficult commands later. 😊😊

Congratulations guys, Xena is a real beauty. Those eyes, absolutely gorgeous. I hope it didn't take long for Cleo and Xena to become friends and play buddies.
See if Denis changes his mind when he jumps out of bed and the unexpected "present" squelches up between his toes. 🤣😂. P S. I would not be without my rescue dog from Romania.
Beautiful….we’ve always had a bull breed of some type, great dogs to have, fun loving and loyal.
Good to see you’re going to crate train her (at least that’s what I assume), a crate is one of the best dog management tools you can have, excellent for toilet training so you don’t have accidents around the house, they’ll pick it up in under a week most of the time if you do it right.

Being she’s an “American,” Terrier, it will take her a bit to adjust to the Aussie accent 😂😂😂
In all seriousness, since she’s a Terrier, gotta watch her with the snakes and other dangerous creatures. She’s a natural hunter. Possibly one of the best breeds for your homestead. Make sure at least one of you establishes dominance in the first few months though. Otherwise she will be unruly as an adult. It might seem mean, especially when they’re puppies, but if you establish dominance and discipline as a puppy, within six months you will NEVER have to discipline again. And she will be the best dog you’ve ever known.
