    America had the biggest and best rail system decades ago, the best. Everywhere there was rails for trains we should have had overhead high speed monorail systems long long ago. We ditched our trains so we could burn lots of oil in 18 wheeled trucks. Now we are 50 years behind and much of our train rail right-a-ways are grown up in weeds.

    This is an incredible system. Already implemented in a lower tech version at Heathrow Airport. The only holdup has been unimaginative naysayers, timid transportation officials and terrified vested interests. The wonderful thing about Skytran is that the guideways have extremely low visual impact which will enhance the urban landscape. Good for Israel!

      and destined to fail.. One of the most basic mobility principles is "Infrastructure Principle" The Infrastructure Principle holds that any transportation technology that requires its own dedicated infrastructure will not be able to compete against highways, airlines, and freight railroads because the cost of building enough infrastructure to make the technology useful and the risk that the technology will fail to cover its costs will both be too great.

    First saw this proposed back in the late 90s. They were supposed to have a small scale demonstration project up and running in a couple of years back then.
    Still nothing but vaporware as far as I can see. Quality of the animations has improved quite a bit.
    The only way they're going to get this thing off the ground, they've got to get some kind of full scale system into operation that people can actually ride. Even a 5 - 10 mile loop system that could be built out from would be enough.

    In 2015 you can ride on it in Tel Aviv, Israel - I can't wait!

  • @guylfe
    @guylfe 11 лет назад +1

    That is what is currently proposed - in Tel Aviv. The mayor has already approved the project and it is assumed that a year and a half from now it will be up and running in Tel Aviv, going through a couple of key attractions in the city.

    resolving technical issues can take an enormous amount of time. The fact that they have a physical model that people can get into is fantastic. They've probably spent several hundred thousand, if not millions of dollars. If they build a full scale system this will take off. Any country that builds this destroys billions of dollars of time-waste. This isn't just green it saves time and lives.

    Germany had an even better system than this in the 70's. It was called "Cabinentaxi". PRT is the future of rail transport. It's even possible to transport freight using it. It's unfortunate that PRT projects always get scrapped. Gotta keep those big oil companies in business though.

What are the consequences on the human body Magnetic field exposure ?

    Yes, but this design will not reach large volume because it restricts entrants to the system by the monopoly of the "pod" as it were. A road works because many can design products. Skytran does not allow GM, Ford, Toyota, me, you, and etc, etc. join in the money making. They want to rule the world with an inferior concept. Track = road. Make the track so many different cars can be used, not just the skytran nonsense.

  • @seaplaneguy1
    @seaplaneguy1 11 лет назад

    I don't understand what YOU mean by it. Please be clear. I don't think they are being stopped costs if the costs are cheaper. Technology should cost LESS, not more. The Skytran cost MORE, therefore is not going to work.

  • @seaplaneguy1
    @seaplaneguy1 11 лет назад +1

    The track is a road. Cars should be able to go on the track (hanging) or drive on ALL roads. The track is paid for by $/mile user fee, and electricity is billed to the pod owner. Everybody owns a "hook" with wheels in it that can get electricity from the track that is installed to a low weight car. Not that hard. GM, Ford, Toyota can then make the pods. Hook sold separately. Skytran is for fools. Won't work. 10 times more expensive if not 40 time...

    The Skytran system is NOT viable. The pod needs to be able drive on all roads, highway or city, road door to door. The pod needs to be privately owned, just like cars are now. The weight should be limited to around 2200 lbs (1 metric ton) and the track is a public road, not somebodies cash cow that tax payers have to fund. Mass transit is for hauling people to concentration camps, not for daily use.

  • @seaplaneguy1
    @seaplaneguy1 11 лет назад

    No, what is stopping this is getting capital to those who have a vision that will work. Skytran will NOT work. Track is a road, not a cash cow for the well connected. Let all on track, just like roads do now. That is why roads work. Skytran is a joke. Mag lev is useless. Limit weight to 2200 lbs, pay /mile and pay for electricity used (if any). City maintains track just like they do the roads. Simple. GM, Ford, Tesla, Aptera...all can compete. Air chairs...folds under desk...

  • @seaplaneguy1
    @seaplaneguy1 11 лет назад

    Never, because it is totally flawed. Read some of my other comments. The Skytran is NOT the solution. Mag lev is a joke. Track is a road. Allow all to drive on road. Simple. Make standard. Roads have standards. Tracks should also. Limit to 2200 lbs. Have cars that can add in "hook" with electric wheels that are powered from the track. Gas car, ok, hook is electric...let the best tech win market share. 1 cent/mile is possible. Rent car out while at work...make money...

  • @seaplaneguy1
    @seaplaneguy1 11 лет назад

    The Skytran concept is very flawed. Mass...is for concentration camps, not private transit. Track is a road...in the sky. Make the road a standard all can use. Allow all (GM, Ford, Toyoda, Tesla motors, Aptera, etc) to compete on a standard. Cities build roads. Use fee pays for it. Electricity is billed along with $/mile. 1 trillion for usa track. 100 times with Skytran. Allow cars and roadable airplane on track. Limit weight to 2200 lbs.
