You should purchase the same colors and sizes, that way those are constants and the only variable is the make of the baits. If you buy a pack of 5” Yamamotos in green pumpkin and a pack 6” Yum Dingers in bubble gum (for example), you have a lot of additional variables that you wouldn’t want in a science experiment.
I was thinking the same thing.
I really wish you'd do the same colors when comparing in the challenges. That way it's a fair comparison between the baits.

To make it a fair comparison I feel like the colors you use for the baits should be the same for the same category, like all senkos same color etc…

The difference between the jackhammer and a regular or original chatterbaits is that the blade starts chattering right away and it takes the original chatterbait a little longer
but jerking your line initiates the original...so in my experience the jack hammer aint worth it

Really the only difference in the jack hammer and the original is, the jack hammer starts up a lot faster. With the jack hammer it’s vibrating the second you turn the handle. With the original, it takes it a couple seconds. In some cases that doesn’t matter. But in a lot of cases those first couple seconds are crucial. That’s the biggest difference. The blade and snap are better quality along with the hook and you have better and more realistic skirts. Is it worth the 15 dollar difference? Not unless you’re fishing for money. The original seems to always catch them. It’s reliable. The cross eye and the elite are good options too.

Jackhammers are really good and obviously expensive. I saw one stuck in a tree by a pond once. Really felt bad for the person who lost it.
a regular chatterbait has a lead head a cheaper hook/swivel and the jackhammer comes with a high end gamakatzu hook, tungsten head high end snap swivel and a painted blades, thats why its so expensive!

YakPak A guy told me once (lol)that the jackhammer is the best because the blade starts kicking when it hits the water and the others don’t engage quite as quick but also the hooks are a bit better. 👍🏼

What if you did custom hand made lures for a challenge? Either on your own or get everyone together. I think someone did that with like dollar store items or something but get the blank jerk bait molds and air brush them or something along those lines.

Jackhammer- hand tied living silicon skirt, heavier higher grade hook, higher grade blade and a tungsten head if I remember correctly. Og chatterbait- lead head, lighter hook, lighter blade grade and a silicon rubber ring with regular silicon skirt

Jackhammer has a direct connection to the jig head with better vibration it's some patent on the blade connection that nobody else can use if u look at the Z-man chatter it has a lil swivel type blade connection

The jackhammers are more expensive because the blade is more “hydrodynamic “ and is also joined to the head of the lure differently.

I agree with Matty Pond Hopper. You have to keep them as close in color and size as possible or it's not a true scientific test.
Not surprising that Googan was the most expensive on a few items.

1/2oz green shad jackhammer with a electric shad zako trailer got me a really good one yesterday, but I caught my PB today on an owner flashy swimmer with a zoom bluegill flash swimbait.

It is a tungsten head I believe. And the snaps are different and I believe the blade is thinner or shaped differently so that it starts vibrating as soon and you star to crank the reel
The jackhammer has a better designed “bill” and the skirt is hand tied and flairs better it’s not a ton different from the classic but it’s noticeable compared to the z man classic chatter bait
Has a different head attachment/line tie and it also starts up faster and vibrates harder
Kinda messing up the product vs product comparison when you get each brand in a very different color. Fish could be biting a certain color more than others and it could be credited to that rather than the quality of the lure

The jack hammer starts vibrating immediately upon retrieval, others take a second or two.. they also vibrate better in my opinion..
The chatter baits. It's how well it's made. Like the jackhammer breaks with do much tension on the wire and the cheaper ones are made a little more sterdy like you can use 30lb braid with the z man but if you use it with the jack hammer it will break where you tie you're line that's what I notice myself cheaper ones tend to hold better from breaking then the jackhammer The jack hammers better to be used with like 17 lb fluro is what I herd from everyone's hope that helps us out buddy
Yak Man, I say go do some shiner fishing. I wish I could come down to Florida and do some fishing w you guys. I was down there a few years ago around Christmas time. West Palm area. I did some fishing 1 day. But it was fast and quick. We had a couple of hours of downtime. So we took the golf cart in the complex my family lived. And did some fishing in the area. I also busted my ass walking down to one of the water areas. So, I ended up with mud on one side of my body. But other than that, I caught 1 small bass. But I would love to go back down to fish!!

Yakpak do yall ever fish up around tally... there are alot of little lakes around there lake Jackson lake Munson lake talquin several more great lakes. I've caught so GIANNNNTTTS OFF OF THEM. The biggest being right under 13lbs

The bend in the blade is the real difference between std Chatter and Jackhammer. Jackhammer bend is at the tip of the coffin blade. The std Chatterbait bend is lower on the blade. Contrary to popular belief, Jackhammers are NOT tungsten.

I make Jackhammers with original zmans for less than a dollar. Put the blade in a vice and bend it the jackhammer angle, lose the tie on piece and add a vmc snap. The jackhammer has dual bait holders which I hate, if you have to adjust your trailer the dual holders destroy it. The skirt and hook differences don't make anywhere near the price point difference.
Jack hammer has tungsten head decoy egg snap and gamakatsu custom hook, and blade Attached directly to the head.
The jack Hamer blad is on a different way that gives it a titer and faster vibration also it is hand tied
