Love the music. But more than that I love your gear recommendations. Without you I would never have heard of High N Dry, now I have their zipper waders and love them. I also have there under wader pants and hoody. As for decoys I love the HeyDay decoys. The best was the recommendation for chokes Muller. They are deadly. I sure them on all my guns for hunting and clays. Jimmy is a great guy and has taken the time to personally help me improve my shooting. Thanks for all you do! Good luck in the coming season from Vancouver Island BC.
Very happy with my new high n dry zippered waders that just arrived. Your video on chokes convinced me to try Muller chokes and now me and my buddies are all sporting Mullers in the field and range. Couldn’t be happier. I also got a couple dozen decoys that work really well. I added my Flashbacks I have using for a few years and really like. Pity we can’t get Boss in Canada. Have a great season.
This is my 40th hunting season and the advancements in gear over the years is incredible. Happy to say goodbye to my old army surplus hunting jacket, first Gen flambeau decoys, 10 ga shotguns and rubber waders
Headed to Venice,LA for what I hope to be a few days of great hunting but ya know how fickle duck season can be!!Got new CZ Drake 12 Gauge O/U and absolutely love this gun.My primary gun for last 16 or so years has been Beretta Extrema the original and I had Rob Roberts do fine water-transfer camo finish that still looks incredible.Love that gun but she sometimes jams on me and the CZ Drake CANNOT jam!!Also headed to Lake Village,AR at end of next week and lastly, got fine dozen of Avian X Top Flight coot decoys and where I have been hunting, the greys are in late-season manuevers, rafting in the middle of huge lagoons and the coots should greatly assist in luring em into decent range!!!Love this channel!!
Best thing ibe bought was the tanglefree solo 360 blind. Being able to set up and hide and stay hidden and do it quickly trumps any call, any decoy, and any gadgets. Go where birds want to be and you dont need calls, decoys, or gizmos and gadgets. Does all that other stuff help? Absolutely, but if youre not hidden, good luck....
Very new to waterfowl hunting, but I want to say my high n fry waders. But if I’m honest I can’t do without a good waterproof hunting jacket. I use a Sitka Wader jacket.
I have an interesting question given the season. Due to airbase pest control we're around all year from 5°F to 95°F. Now the curious bit, we do pattern our shot shells just to get a general idea how they perform. We noticed a noticable difference between temperature ranges. We first noticed this around 3 years ago where cold weather shot grouped a lot better and had good coverage. We just wrote this off as same brand, different batch variation. However it sparked curiousity. I purposely withheld the same batch of #4 ammo this season and jocker iso steel hv 32 gram on average performed 7% worse in 21°F than it did in 82°F. Baschieri & Pellagri valle steel Extra HV actually performed 11% better at 25°F than it did in 88°F. This is not super scientific and we only did a test over 5 shells (25f test 4 as I used on on a goose), however it is a noticable difference. The group on the B&P ammo also had a noticably better pattern. Now the question, do you have any idea or speculation why this might be? Obviously I'd prefer to pick the right tool for the job. Although 10% isn't much, it is humanly noticable. I will test a bit more for next season as it sparked my interest.
Yall should invite the peasant hunters with there shotgun/loads/chokes so we can see an analysis of what we are shooting and how it compairs. would be a chance to get data from all kinds of builds and hunting gear.
Joel-I'm curious about boats you have used. I've recently seen some Prodigy boats...man they are pretty nice. Have you had any experience with them? can't wait to see your other vids about things you mentioned in this video (i.e. clothing).
May I ask why you went with the Cordoba over the SBE3 in 28 gauge? I'm considering getting a 28 gauge Benelli, but the ported barrel on the Cordoba concerns me.
I’m not a fan of the SBEs (no matter the gauge). If they had made an M2 in 28 ga I would have bought it. The ethos cordoba is a fantastic gun, just pricy. I was VERY concerned about the ported barrel. I even tried to get one that wasn’t ported. I have hunted with it 4 or 5 times so far. It’s great. No issues. I’ll do an in-depth review after the season.
@johnnyhonda4404 FWIW, I shot a SBE for close to 20 yrs. Just got a Beretta A400 last year and it shoots/swings like a dream. It's the fastest shooting gun I've ever owned. No "Benelli Click", No SBE "Raw Finger".
I have both in 28 gauge. The Cordoba ports are very loud with the 3” shells….they will ring your ears. So I purchased the SBE, unfortunately it patterns low and to the left. I fixed the low part with the shims but it’s still is out in left field….actually not even in the field. Sending it back to Benelli after four emails. Customer service is very poor.
Here's an idea for you. With your scientific approach to hunting, I think I have found an opportunity. I've been searching for a real-world comparison measuring recoil - with real numbers - between gas operated and inertia guns. Everyone seems convinced that inertia recoils harder. But I just cannot find any numbers to back that up.... And how big is the difference? Does stock design actually help? It could make for a good video as it's a controversial topic.
@@underthetrees4780 easier to take off, pee, when you walk into your spots and you're sweating your balls off you can unzip them and release some heat that is built up.
You really have nothing better to do than comment this do you man and I though I was bored outta my mind after work when the season ends it’s personal preference and a 28 gauge can kill ducks easily it’s all about ammo choice distance skill and choke selection hell a 410 can kill ducks inside of 20 to 30 yards
What is your favorite piece of Waterfowl hunting Gear??
Do you prefer flocked heads or the regular hayday decoys

From a wet army jacket to a heated waterproof jacket is a HUGE difference 😂
Got my first duck band a few weeks ago thanks to your videos on calling tips!
Nice work!
@@SurvivingDuckSeason Hello good videos i have hunting videos on youtube
I love my 28 gauge! Had no problem dropping mallards this year.
Fantastic video. Definitely learned a few things! Thanks for all the information Joel.

rangefinder to set my deke out at 40yds.
Seriously?
Dude, those hats look awesome! I'm gonna have to look into those!
A good headlamp and extra batteries. Maybe not my "favorite" but couldn't hunt without it.
Joel, great content as usual can't wait to see some vids of hunts from the property
A lot of bourbon. Like a lot. No ducks in West Kentucky just yet.
Keep us updated on the new 28 gauge. I just bought a new SX4 20ga to take to Arkansas this year. I hope I can hit with it.
ShowMeDucks Ice Quacker and Deek Diver are game changers. Available at Mack's.
my favorite is either my avian x topflight gadwall decoys or boss legacy shotshells

Hey Joel where you at you been doing good. Haven't seen a post in a while
JJ lares T1 duck call. Put everything else on the shelf.

Super black eagle 3 and rodger goose buster 2.0 XL are my two
What’s your favorite type of choke tube for duck hunting and goose hunting?
Thats right !
How did you make out with the motion decoys the flash back mallard??
Babe wake up, new Surviving Duck Season video just dropped!
Could you do a how to on specelbelly goose calling?

I’ve not used a prodigy boat. I have Xpress and Allweld. I have some experience with war eagle. All great boats.
@jamestribol1434 Not sure what your hunting situations call for, but have you considered Excel or Ambush boats?
Neck Gator!
has there been any 28 gauge used on divers /sea ducks

My high n drys are horrible for the price. Seams in both legs are leaking and have a hole by the crotch
Ducks our season is ending at the end of the month ...no birds
Are you releasing anything in 2024?
Joel, you still a round?
After wearing zippered waders I'll never go back to anything else
