I am a week away from my 69th birthday and after a few dismal failures many years ago, I have never attempted making my own pie dough. Until now. For Christmas dinner this year, my youngest son requested pecan pie for dessert instead of our traditional trifle. I had watched this video and thoought: why not. It turned out better than I imagined it would, although there were a couple challenges: like getting the rolled dough into the pie plate. I think I did not mix the butter long enough. Still, it was the best pecan pie I've ever made. Also the only one. The crust was definiitely tender and flaky, and the filling a gorgeous balance of nutty and smooth and just as you promised: not too sweet - just right. I intend to practice and bake more pies now, because you have shown me it's much easier than I believed. One is never too old to learn a new skill - as I taught my kids, fail means first attempt is learning. You should know that you were a part of our Christmas this year, and may be responsible for a new family Christmas tradition. Thanks Anna.
I also learned from this recipe at age 71! Handling was a little intimidating, but I've made 5 crusts since my first try. Excellent recipe for crust and Pecan filling.
You have given a number of useful baking tips and explanations on the science of the tips. Everything you explanationed is clear precise, and to the point. I appreciate these tips so much! 🤯😵🙃😌😉
Wonderful!!! I have baked your butter tarts several times and it was a success!! I hope to succeed with this pie too!!! Greetings from Madrid, Spain in Europe 😘🥰🌷🍁🌹🍁🍁
I’ve been craving pecan pie and then seen it on my recommended list and now can’t wait to make it, in truth your banking has inspired me several times thanks Anna😎
I understand that you are using maple syrup but, if I use light corn syrup instead of dark syrup, will it still come out the same as for taste? Thank you!
This is THE best pecan pie I have ever tasted without a doubt! It was not runny at all! It was just the right amount of sweetness! My family raved about it!
Anna, I've been baking other people's recipes since I was 11. I've made my grandmother's, James Beard's, Martha S., and Julia Childs' recipes to name a few. YOUR recipes are always delicious and turn out perfectly. Thank you!
My go to pie crust recipe! Always works (I always make it by hand as I don’t have a stand mixer). Grating in the butter works great too :) Does the recipe call for 3 eggs or 4 as mentioned in the video ? 😅
hun, you look like the girl who used to do the fake cooking videos for the onion yt channel so when i see your videos pop up I always assume it's a going to be a funny joke and then it's just normal baking advice. I can't be mad... it's good baking videos... but please one day do a video in the vein of the "one-pot 6-pan, 10-wok, 25-baking sheet' video"

Hi friend that looks Delicious very yummy thanks for sharing my friend very big like 👍👍👍👍👈👈💛💛💛🌻🌻🌻
Can this dough work well for hand pies? It's literally the best pie dough I've ever made!
Looks so yum!
It must be a very good pie, this pie is often mentioned in American TV shows and movies.
Thanks for the science behind the cooking. Not only are the recipes yum you add a lot of information aswell.
Pecan pie in my opinion and preference needs to be served cold. It makes the syrup firm up and taste better.
God bless you sensei 🙏🏻
Definitely going to try the pie recipe
So good
Hello from Sudan!
Thank you 👌🏻😋🌹
Hi is the filling intended to be the that runny despite using corn syrup? Will it set more if I cook it longer?
Awesome , cheers
May I have a question
What is the weight of two of cup flour, because measuring cups are different.
Thank you🌹🍃⚘🌿🥀
The weights for all ingredients are in listed in the recipe under the video :)
Como puedo encontrar el video en español ? Se ve deliciosa y puedo traducir la receta, pero necesito escuchar sus consejos
Me puedes pasar la receta por favor 🙏
What temp should the center of this pie be when completed ?
Its really gud and Yummmy
COOL
has anyone tried this recipe, the slice looks very runny. I believe she cut it before it was completely cooled because of timing.
What can be used in place of the corn syrup as this isn’t readily available in Australia?
Golden syrup (ex: Lyle's) should be an acceptable substitute and actually a little less cloying than corn syrup.
was just about to ask that same question, as I live in Australia, thanks
@@stooge81 Thank you

You'll get a richer taste if you use the dark syrup instead.

Not set enough… maybe less maple syrup
This pie is runny. Not something I would make.

Beware written recipe states 3 eggs (chef said 4)✌🏾
Isn’t the filling suppose to be set, 3 eggs were used. It looks too runny. You keep calling it syrupy filling.

Well explained. Unfortunately my first attempt was an undercooked pie. Other recipes I looked at say an hour.

We need to unlearn to use 'vegatable' oil. It's anything but healthy. I use avocado oil in almost all my cooking. Blessings! 🥰
