Theory. Its kind of a metaphor for how things looks great on the outside but really they arent. The country club looks beautiful but has chemtrails instantly coming down on the people there. The 1950s style housewives are really werewolves. Or like you said the mask looked like it was made of jewels at first but then you can tell its mesh.
