    I love that in your finance journey that you tried going without and then got really dialed into why the subscription service works well for you.

    That’s great that you have found a way to curb excess spending and enjoy a variety that you crave!
    I love to wear few ”signature pieces” and actually tend to feel awkward when I have something new and people notice 😸 I appreciate beautiful, high quality clothing and the best is when I find another staple piece to reach for all the time.

    I love hearing your explanation of why you rent clothes! I understand why you like wearing higher end clothes and renting them is cheaper than buying a “uniform”. I too am battling a shopping addiction and mine spreads to home items but now I realize my real problem was buying lots of dupes and cheap shit in order to save money on the more expensive items that last longer and are better quality. So now I save money to buy the expensive items that last and by the time I finally have the money for it I’ve spent a long time considering if I really want it. Love your channel!!!!!!!

      Love this. I also find, if I save up to make the purchase, I tend to appreciate it much more😊

    I could never enjoy RTR because the idea of wearing a garment that I could potentially ruin by mistake and be financially responsible for makes me anxious. I like nice things but I hate the idea of being precious with my items, that’s why I tend to buy luxury items second hand and wear them all the time without babysitting them. I just know myself enough to know that I couldn’t be comfortable in clothes I don’t own which is a shame because it seems like a good idea.

    Working remotely helped me with my shopping addiction. I pretty much go out for a trivia night or date night once a week with my husband. I also think age has made me care less about the latest fashions. At 39, I don't have the same shopping addiction I had in my 20s. I used to live in Las Vegas where I would dress to the nines every day and try to look like Marilyn Monroe. I still spend money on the "bleach and tone" to keep the platinum hair though lol. :)

    Love this! ❤ As women especially, we love just trying and having something new every so often - and it’s not alway in budget. A very sustainable and FREE alternative is hosting an Annual Clothing Swap. I’ve done it for over a decade, in the spring and autumn (when many people are changing out their warm/cold wardrobes. The brief is simple - everyone brings a minimum of 5 items ( clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry) in good to excellent condition. I set it up like a store with racks, tables and mirrors for people to enjoy! Everyone can shop for free, try new things with no buyers remorse, and return it to the next swap if it didn’t work out - or, in the case of a party dress, they may only wear once and then be happy to pass on. I started this with a small group of friends as a “girls night in” and it has grown to over 50 people and literally thousands of amazing items twice a year. Everything not taken is given to a charity based thrift store, woman’s shelter or young mother’s home. There is no downside!! ( I do women’s, men and kids now, but any category would work!) ❤🎉

    I relate to this so much! I just started nuuly and am otherwise doing a low buy year. It scratches the itch of shopping and dopamine and then I'm not responsible for the items after a month. I love it and completely agree with your take.

    My husband started calling me Steve Jobs because all I wore this winter was a black turtleneck and jeans, but it’s because I can’t decide when I have too many options. A rental service like this sounds interesting.

      Haha honestly that’s my go to when I’m not wearing a rental item. Black turtleneck and jeans or a skirt. It’s so easy.

    I tried rent the runway once but had trouble finding things on there that appealed to me but I tried fashion pass (another rental clothing company) and I like there options more.
    Good video. Another thing I like about the rental clothes company you really get bang for your buck.
    Fashion pass is $125 a month for two shipments 6 items in each shipment totaling 12 items.
    My first shipment I added up the total retail cost of the 6 items and it totaled $1,081.
    For 12 months of fashion pass it would be $1,500 and in just my first shipment I am less than $500 away in retail value hitting the yearly $1,500.

    I REALLY struggle with shopping for clothes and while RtR may not be for me its still good for me to consider different options. Im trying so hard to cut down so i appreciate this info/message. Also, can I ask where your glasses are from? They look to be a similar style to the black ones you wear? Appreciate you so much!! 🖤

      I totally get it. Getting shopping under control can be a real struggle. My glasses are from Cartier. Quite pricey and about 10 years old. I would never buy them now, they’re too expensive.

    I think it's an excellent idea and is a relative bargain to be honest. If they had stuff that was my taste, I would be saving thousands. I do notice that the RTR items end up on Thredup as they are phased off the site.

    Im sure they say each item is laundered before it’s sent to their customers but I’m skeptical that it actually is (so much laundering can break down clothing). Do you ever find any items with a smell or random hair on it or damaged? Just curious.

    • @dbalemon
      @dbalemon  23 часа назад +1

      I’ve had a few items that show some wear or have a loose button, but 90% of the time they’re in great condition. As of recently I’ve received a lot of items with tags on them.

    Would you accept a brand deal from RTRW or some other borrowing brand or would you see that as encouraging to shop and against your channel’s goals?

    • @dbalemon
      @dbalemon  7 часов назад

      Oh good question. I actually would accept it, but it’s the only thing in the category of clothing or shopping. Mainly because I believe it’s helped me to curb my very excessive shopping addiction. The service can be helpful for the right person, in the right circumstances, if used responsibly.

    Have you considered that your reaction to clothing may be linked to your BDD? Perhaps the longer you own something, the longer time you have to be critical of it...

    • @dbalemon

      Wow good catch and you’re absolutely right. I think it is tied to BDD in some way.

    Still trying to justify what you know you should stop paying for. No one in debt should be wasting money on renting clothes. Until you stop, you are still feeding your insecurities which is how you got into debt in the first place
