Great Bahareh Moghtadaei! Amazing
Very interesting how different the techniques are for this instrument. What a great lesson in both musical diversity as well as cultural diversity. Thank you!
What a cool sounding instrument and a talented percussionist
That's right.
Thanks for introducing us to Bahareh and the tonbak. 👏👏👏
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it.

Thanks so much for this serie about the Tombak. I've bought a Tombak two years ago and the resources for learning a Tombak are rare (if you don't speak Farsi that is). It's a fascinating instrument and surprisingly hard to play with the many techniques imagionable.
Baukereg You’re welcome. It is an instrument that has many more aspects to it than it appears.
عااالی
Mulbery = Dut ; Mulbery wood use for building string instrument such as Setar, and hand percussion like Tonbak.
Fantastic instrument :D
👏 Wow! 😲
When Bahareh Moghtadaei was playing the Tonbak what immediately came to mind was a Persian belly dancer, in her full native costume, doing all those seductive hip gyrations. Now, how’s that for diversity with the Tonbak? 😉
That berry is Mulberry! It grows to enormous trees in Iran and the fruit is delicious! Any hard wood that is turnable would do! In Iran it is usually made of Mulberry, Walnut, Ash, Maple, sycamore, cherry etc. NOT Pine! The skin is usually about 1mm thick! It is usually calf and thin camel. Deer and thick goat is also good! But NOT sheep! Sheep is too thin!
3:37 "...and I'm sure people are dying to hear what it sounds like".
Bullcrap! Dude, let her go on. I want to see MORE of this absolutely gorgeous Iranian woman. So don't ever interrupt her again (please). Let her just sit there and be the beautiful angel that she is.
A lot of eye therapy indeed!
😂😂😂😂😂wtf
I’m more impressed by her musicianship-something she chose to work hard on, unlike her genetics
