Hi Terry, I’m a new owner of a new Luminaire Xp2 + XP3 upgrade and am also completely new to machine embroidery in general. I already own an Innovis sewing machine so I’m not completely new to sewing on a Brother. I started to skip over these early lessons, like needles and presser feet and downloading the manual, etc, but you are so thorough in your presentations that even for these most basic operations I learn stuff I never knew before or have forgotten. So it’s a pleasure to work through your videos from the beginning so I don’t miss a thing. Thank you SO much for your labor of love in presenting this wealth of learning.
Terry, I cannot begin to tell you how much you have helped me with the operation of this machine. My dealer (that I like) is 1.5 hours away and so I wanted to thank you for filling in for them! I bought my copies of the manuals from eBay. I like the paper versions! I decided that with this machine, I was going to "start at the beginning" on learning it, even though I have sewn almost all my life, I am new to embroidery. Excited for all the things I have to learn about this amazing machine!
One more thing, Terry, you are a blessing. My Luminaire arrives in 2 weeks and I am a visual learner. This is exactly what I needed. You can’t rely on getting instructions from the dealer all of the time because they aren’t as available as they and we would like. Thank you.
Thank you, Terri. You are such a big help. Can you please tell me how to get the manual printed & by what company. Can you send a direct link if you have it? Is it better for me to talk to customer service?
I had mine printed by CheaperCopies.com. If you have an XP2, I would download the most recent manuals from Brother Support. I keep them on my tablet or iPad for reference. Cheaper copies does a great job. You can upload the file to them. I had mine printed as a color copy on 28 pound paper with vinyl covers and a spiral binding.
Cheryl Grider - The Luminaire and XP1 are the same machines. The predecessor to the Luminaire was the Dream Machine. The model beneath the Luminaire is the Stellaire. The Stellaire does not have the built in camera thus requiring you to use another device with a camera such as your phones.
I thought the monitoring app can be used if you only have the updates. If you need to have the upgrade I gave some misinformation on the Facebook page and I will need to correct it.
Susan Fiondella - the app does not work without the Upgrade Kit. It was part of the features included in the Upgrade. Update 2.0 added the feature but like a few other features, it was not activated until the Upgrade was installed.
Carol Wahl - go to the Brother Support website for your machine and select manuals. Download all the manuals you want printed to your computer or a USB stick. You can take this to your local print shop or you can use one of the online sources. I used Cheapercopies.com. They are not the fastest but the product looks great. There is a person selling the manuals on eBay as well.
I just looked on eBay. Right now, there are several sellers with prices ranging from about $20 for one manual to $89.95 for all five manuals including the PE 11. Wondering how up-to-date the info is.

Your videos are so helpful, I am on lesson 3 and have learned a lot. Thank you 😊

What is default pressure foot setting - mine is set at 7.5; however it isn’t low enough to sew (blind hem foot)
Will PE Design 10 work with this machine
Is there a big difference between Luminaire and Luminaire XP1? 😊 😊 😊
Do the 2 machines use the same embroidery frames?

I definitely want a printed manual
Terrry. I would like the Manuel printed. What do I ask for... Brother PDF Manuel version 2?
