    WTF, I heard so much about soapnuts, and NEVER about this recipe, when there are conkers left rotting on the ground in pretty much every park around here ? O_O This is such a waste ! I will try this as soon as I have the possibility to choose my laundry detergent.

      well, do you mean the edible ones or the wild ones, because i suppose you can use the wild ones for this too and leave the edible ones for eating.

    I literally found out a Conker's tree is growing on my property. I had wondered for years what it was and then asked a Facebook plant identifying group if it has any uses and I saw this. No more plastic or importing all the way from India! I am beyond grateful!

    I've always wanted to make my own laundry powder cause most detergents irritate my skin (just like soap does) but never came across an effective alternative

      That's why I switched to soap nuts in the first place, the '"normal" stuff kept giving me really nasty rashes and the smell kept bunging up my sinuses.

      Brandy Workman Yup! There may be a yellow fleshy outside to the nut, you’ll have to wait until the inside is ripe and the yellow exterior has split open

    This is so awesome!! Once it is made into the liquid soap, how long will it last? Could I just make a lot of it and store it in a jar so that I dont have to make it daily? I've been collecting horse chestnuts because I am totally gonna do this!!!

    Thanks for the great video. I collected some conkers and ground them, but I waited 2 days before dehydrating them in the oven and they started to smell funny. Have you had this happen before?

    hey, thank you for the tutorial! I'm trying it right now. I put it in the oven yesterday and I plan on using it today. Is it okay if the water is a little brown-ish? or maybe it got burnt? I'm sorry, I'm kinda new at this haha

    Hi Klaire! Thanks for this videos and introducing me to this amazing concept :) I was wondering how putting the concer rests in your compost (only wondering in the case that you have a worm bin) affects the breakdown of material considering it might change the ph of your compost?

    My aunt use conkers for spiders. They don't like them. Just put it in corners or areas where spiders like.

      I used to have an ant problem in my home workspace until I let a little spider make a nest in the corner, she always left a dirty mess but I never had problems with bugs again while she was there

      We have a couple of spiders in our home. We just name them and let them be, until their web becomes a little bit much then we wipe it down

      No, that's chestnuts. These are horse chestnuts and they're not edible.

      just plain vinegar, it removes any odours in your laundry :)

      I've been using vinegar for about a year now and I really like it. If you don't use too much it won't smell afterwards. 🙂 Started using it because I didn't want to use any softener for my baby's clothes. Of course it doesn't make them super super soft, but that doesn't bother at all.

    I’ve always heard horse cheatnuts are poisonous. Couldn’t imagine myself processing them with the equipment i use to make food.
    Did you get any adverse effect while or after processing them?

      @@pawpatinaactually they are different, but I think I'll still try it. What could go wrong other than the fact that Buckeyes are poisonous, but as long as I don't ingest it, ill be fine. :)

      I just looked it up it says symptoms from consumption can include diarrhea, weakness, vomiting, paralysis, and death. I’m all for natural but I’m not going to use something in any form that could easily kill me.
