wonderful to hear from you again, you've been a huge inspiration throughout my life and knowing you're still there, doing good and being you, it means alot to me (and countless others I'm sure)
WTF, I heard so much about soapnuts, and NEVER about this recipe, when there are conkers left rotting on the ground in pretty much every park around here ? O_O This is such a waste ! I will try this as soon as I have the possibility to choose my laundry detergent.
Welcome back Klaire! I love this channel turn around you've done. The baby bum cream I made, and was amazing. Take care, and keep up the videos. Even few, they're always interesting.
OMG, mind blowing. Can't wait to try this next year. I have conkers at home, but they're dried and rock hard. I didn't think I could love conkers more than I do already, but clearly I do now.
I literally found out a Conker's tree is growing on my property. I had wondered for years what it was and then asked a Facebook plant identifying group if it has any uses and I saw this. No more plastic or importing all the way from India! I am beyond grateful!
How delightful, I never knew you could even use chestnuts as an alternative to laundry detergent! I missed watching your videos Klaire, I hope your New Year's resolutions go well ^_^
I've always wanted to make my own laundry powder cause most detergents irritate my skin (just like soap does) but never came across an effective alternative Thank you Klaire ! ☺️☺️
That's why I switched to soap nuts in the first place, the '"normal" stuff kept giving me really nasty rashes and the smell kept bunging up my sinuses.
How interesting ! I was wondering were you got that idea from? Do you have any source you can recommend? Thanks btw for this neat simple and beautiful vid, love your voice, so sweet !
Brandy Workman Yup! There may be a yellow fleshy outside to the nut, you’ll have to wait until the inside is ripe and the yellow exterior has split open
This is so awesome!! Once it is made into the liquid soap, how long will it last? Could I just make a lot of it and store it in a jar so that I dont have to make it daily? I've been collecting horse chestnuts because I am totally gonna do this!!!
Thanks for the great video. I collected some conkers and ground them, but I waited 2 days before dehydrating them in the oven and they started to smell funny. Have you had this happen before?
hey, thank you for the tutorial! I'm trying it right now. I put it in the oven yesterday and I plan on using it today. Is it okay if the water is a little brown-ish? or maybe it got burnt? I'm sorry, I'm kinda new at this haha
Hi Klaire! Thanks for this videos and introducing me to this amazing concept :) I was wondering how putting the concer rests in your compost (only wondering in the case that you have a worm bin) affects the breakdown of material considering it might change the ph of your compost?
I used to have an ant problem in my home workspace until I let a little spider make a nest in the corner, she always left a dirty mess but I never had problems with bugs again while she was there
I've been using vinegar for about a year now and I really like it. If you don't use too much it won't smell afterwards. 🙂 Started using it because I didn't want to use any softener for my baby's clothes. Of course it doesn't make them super super soft, but that doesn't bother at all.
Any conkers and coconut shampoo ? If you know that please posted . I dont like chemical cosmetics , the natural are too expensive, and someone talk me about this . Now is time to collect them to the forest . Thank you !
Does this work on skin (and hair) too? so far soap is the only thing I don't consistently make myself because it's a pain in the arse and takes months to cure...
I’ve always heard horse cheatnuts are poisonous. Couldn’t imagine myself processing them with the equipment i use to make food. Did you get any adverse effect while or after processing them?
@@pawpatinaactually they are different, but I think I'll still try it. What could go wrong other than the fact that Buckeyes are poisonous, but as long as I don't ingest it, ill be fine. :)
@@noorqadri3507 numerous people have asked and she, plus others have all replied, exact same nut. and soap is deadly if you consume it too... so not sure whats your point. lol
@@pawpatina I don't know why you are getting so upset. Or from your comment, you sound upset you may not be. I said I was going to try is and it might do the same things, but the nut if different. And yeah, of course, I'm not saying to consume it either way so. I was just stating that they are different nuts and one is poisonous, but I'm still going to try it. I just came on her channel for the first time 1 week ago, so yeah, I didn't know.
I just looked it up it says symptoms from consumption can include diarrhea, weakness, vomiting, paralysis, and death. I’m all for natural but I’m not going to use something in any form that could easily kill me.
The phrase "humiliated brownies" made my day 😂😂
Humiliated cookies
Me as a dessert humiliated brownie or cookie

well, do you mean the edible ones or the wild ones, because i suppose you can use the wild ones for this too and leave the edible ones for eating.

In Indonesia we called them "Lerak" and it's commomly used to wash Batik
Just had today a huge storm, that got me a massiv amound of chestnuts. It will take me days to grind and dry Everything, but I am so excited.

Never heard of this method before - I love it!
So lovely seeing you again! I hope you are doing well!
I didn't quite understand the ratio conker powder/water you use? Does it need to sit before being used?
Welcome back!! So excited to see you again, I can’t wait for more diy videos!! Hope you, bub and hubby are doing well! ✌🏻💋
I’m in love with this channel and your lifestyle. I strive to live this eco friendly and cost effective. Well don’t Klaire

Are those the same as Buckeyes? I'm from Ohio USA and have an abundance of these.
Brandy Workman Yup! There may be a yellow fleshy outside to the nut, you’ll have to wait until the inside is ripe and the yellow exterior has split open
I was thinking the same thing. NE Ohio, here.
Yes, these are exactly Buckeyes 😁 NE Ohio gals 💖
I am from NW Ohio and I was so sure they were the same thing. Thanks!
I love in SW Ohio and I was wondering the same thing.

Interesting! I will be collecting confers in the autumn!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, how long did you put it in the oven for?
I have just collected lots of conkers 🤩 I can’t wait to try this 💚
Oh and what was that exact measurement for the dehydrated conkers to water? I couldn't quite catch that part.
Nice to see you. 💕 hope your baby is doing well ❤ 😊
Love this video that would be so neat free laundry detergent. We don't have these where I live it's too hot.
Glad you're back!
Thanks for the great video. I collected some conkers and ground them, but I waited 2 days before dehydrating them in the oven and they started to smell funny. Have you had this happen before?
Going to have to wait a few months till I can try this! TY!

You uk we use them for a school yard game normally
Great video. Very clear and concise. Thank you. Got my conkers ready ready to go! Still laughing at "humiliated brownies" too. 😂
The conker and the horse chestnut are the same. Am I right?
yep
Hi Klaire! Thanks for this videos and introducing me to this amazing concept :) I was wondering how putting the concer rests in your compost (only wondering in the case that you have a worm bin) affects the breakdown of material considering it might change the ph of your compost?
I don't have a worm bin (yet) for the moment we just have a compost bin.
My aunt use conkers for spiders. They don't like them. Just put it in corners or areas where spiders like.
I used to have an ant problem in my home workspace until I let a little spider make a nest in the corner, she always left a dirty mess but I never had problems with bugs again while she was there
We have a couple of spiders in our home. We just name them and let them be, until their web becomes a little bit much then we wipe it down
Is this the one you roast it with coffee or sand? They taste so good!!!! 😍
No, that's chestnuts. These are horse chestnuts and they're not edible.
So this is in replacement of the laundry powder. But what about fabric conditioner? I'd love to give this a go.
just plain vinegar, it removes any odours in your laundry :)

They can be used as a medicine for something i cant remember what tho
@@tmgj2928 you can buy horse chestnut in capsules. It's useful for that tired heavy feeling in your legs from being on your feet all day.
So they don't need peeling? That would be so good news...
Thanks
What do you do with the used conkers? Do you re-dehydrate them?
No, I put them in the compost bin after use and then that eventually goes onto the veggie patch.
Simply Klaire thank you!!
Are these buckeyes? Is that another nut?
Do you use conker soap on the nappies? :)
In nappie video she said that she doesn't want to risk it
Can we use buckeyes as a substituted?

Megan Goldberg Ask the tide pod kids. Lol
