It makes me happy to see that Dasher has recovered so well after the traffic accident - I hope that a loving foster mother will take him in soon and that he will have a nice monkey life in the troop

A traumatised baby in one hand *and a smartphone in the other, filming while narrating in real time!* Thank you all ❤ And I love the voiceovers too, the way he addresses concerns that come up in comments and how there’s something so reassuringly comforting in his tone. Dasher is going to do so well when he's introduced to new mom and troop, such a personality he has just like all his fellow vervets but his just shines a lil mire than others, i cant wait for more DASHER updates.
It’s so funny that they stuck their toes, but it makes sense. He’s got to have his hands free to cuddle and cling. I’ve heard it’s not common that baby monkeys suck fingers and toes in the wild, and I’m guessing that’s because Momma is there to nurse on, which would satiate that particular drive. He sure is a cutie! He’s going to be just fine and his future is bright in the hands of such loving volunteers, which will soon be handing him over to his new mom. ❤🐒❤️
Many people who study and work with monkeys connect the toe and finger sucking with trauma. And yes especially the trauma of not having a mother. They are just as if not more dependent on their mothers than humans. Thats why I think the pet baby monkey craze is so sad. Its interesting how thumb sucking to self soothe seems normal for a human baby but means something more severe for monkey babies.
@@ThunderCuzzin Yep. 😔 Even worse are the RUclipsrs who use baby monkeys, kittens, and puppies as props in their videos. A lot of the craze would go away if that content wasn’t monetised because it adds a huge incentive to keep doing it. If you haven’t seen the videos on the channel called “Exploited Monkey” I highly recommend watching.
@@ThunderCuzzin if you ever watched Monkey David he sucked his thumb constantly & his very mean mother would just yank it out of his mouth and David would get so so upset, I had to Stop watching this channel because of how very unkind She was with David & I believe that's why he sucked his thumb also She semi starved David. It was heartbreaking all for entertainment & money

Been with this foundation watching every video made. For the last 3yrs. I have educated myself by watching them ALL. They DO put them with adoptive mommas who can't produce milk, so learning to drink the milk from the bottles, help the adopted moms feed them from the feeding cage. The moms know to bring them to the cages set up in the troops enclosure so they can get their milk. Sometimes the adopted babies suckle from the adopted mothers breast, but it's just for comfort only. I suggest you start with season one, and watch every video made up till now. VMF Is a wonderful, and best place for these orphan babies to thrive, and survive in their natural habitat with their adopted mommas❤

Don't understand why you people don't put them around a mother monkey so it can adapt to her. They need their mothers, not milk, from a bottle
