    This is how I replaced a bad ball joint on a 2008 dodge caliber. how and why this hasn't broke yet is beyond me. This ball joint was so bad I don't think i've ever a ball joint with so much play in my life. This job is fairly simple the most import tool is the ball joint press.

    thanks so much for the vid couldn't have done it without your knowledge a few things I noticed I had to remove the brake disc and caliper to make it easier to get the control arm back in and I used a screwdriver to line up the rear bushing through the holes that was pretty difficult but I got it. I opted for a completely new control arm instead of pressing in a new ball joint. Found a good deal online. I was quoted $488 for this job, I did it for around $50. Thanks again man

    how did you take out the snap ring form the old ball joint? did you use a grinder? today I spent around 6 hour trying to install a lower control arm with a good ball joint from pick n pull. the front hole for screw wouldn't line up, the old control arm would fit without any hammering, finally I noticed the replaced control arm inner metal edge was bigger, it was hitting the wall and so it wouldn't fit. I could grind it down like the one grinded control arm on your car but it wouldn't pass inspection. So I am watching your video and will replace the ball joint only on the old control arm. But now I am stuck because I can't find any snap ring on the old ball joint.

    We did my Bros just tring to get the ball joint back in its rubbing on the back plate of the rotter, got all the bolts in finally . . No impact for us but and cheater bar and the cheap ass jack wheel tire tool is the same size as the left bolt driver side control arm. FYI right one is 13/16. The right one were u need a rench to hold the nut from moving but is 21 mm

    I’m doing this right now I have the 2 back bolts on but I’m just having trouble getting the ball joint into it’s hole. Any tips? Should I straighten the wheel?

  • @sintruder
    @sintruder 9 месяцев назад

    Why didn't you just tie the knuckle out of the way, and change the joint while in the vehicle? I put engine oil on the joint before pressing it so it's less apt to cock while going in

    I guess by default on any car when installing lower or upper control arms, the best practice is it should be done while the control arm is under load.

    Great video Jerry. good camera views and gave excellent tips how to reinstall. I have a non related question. I was watching the Flames vs Blackhawks game Saturday and noticed a pizza 73 sign on the board. I looked them up out of curiosity, is the pizza good or crappy chain food? the pics looked awesome and it seems like they are only in Canada anyway. Thanks the video! MFBT!

      +Rocco Liace it's like all major food chains mostly crap. The wings are good and the Donair pizza that's pretty much it

      +STEVE ROB her tires were wearing funny, people told her that she just needed a alignment. I told her a car just doesn't need a alignment unless something is wrong especially with funny tire wear. She tried to argue that Quote other people told her different. So I had to prove her wrong.........

      Jason Brinckmann I do this with a ball joint press kit on a 1999 Taurus. It's a bitch but I don't have to remove the control arm.
