  • My female Chihuahua approximately 9-10 years old having a seizure. Diagnosis is Idiopathic Epilepsy. This does not look like a typical seizure where the dog loses consciousness and convulses. Most of her episodes are like this where she does not lose consciousness. Some are even more minor than this. They last about 1 to 3 minutes. She has had one seizure where she did lose consciousness. These seizures affect her vision and cause partial blindness, which has lasted weeks.
Since they happen infrequently, she is not currently on any medication. Omega-3 fish oil and CBD oil have been recommended. It was also recommended she be spayed (as she was a rescue and that was not done yet). After being spayed 6 months ago, she has had maybe one minor seizure down from one every couple of months. The reason given was the drop in estrogen.

In the description I mention CBD oil was one of the things recommended to me. She doesn't have the seizures frequently enough to start that. I'll actually be posting a video soon about CBD oil and how much it helped my other dog's CCD/dementia.
