    As Covid Vaccine mandates become more popular, I have a few thoughts as to what is ethically the right move here. Covid vaccination decreases spread of illness, and will decrease likelihood of transmission to patients. However the vaccine mandate may cause more nurses to leave already short staffed units, making working conditions more unsafe. And costing more lives in the end.

    President Biden also said it was a STD. There was a doctor who stated that they have seen most cases in homosexual men.

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  Год назад +9

      I also wouldn’t take medical advice from Biden. As he is not a healthcare provider. It is primarily affecting men who have sex with men right now. Because it’s spread by contact. And who do homosexual men have the most physical closeness and contact with? Their partners. Who are often, other homosexual men. It is not a sexually transmitted disease because it doesn’t transmit via the act of sex. It transmits with direct skin to skin contact or contact with a surface someone infected touched. An sti is an infection that is transmitted via a penis, vagina, or throat/mouth during the act of sex. Sexually transmitted infections are a subset of contact spread infections. But not all contact spread infections are sexually transmitted. Hope that clears it up.

    OK- (I am an FNP) - When I first came upon your RUclips videos, a long time ago, I told you that I was very impressed by what you were doing. With your recent pivot into broader public health issues, I have to again hand it to you- you are amazing (and entertaining!). You have found your niche - reaching multitudes of people (professional and the lay public), and promoting helpful patient education while also addressing the ongoing needs of stressed-out professionals. And, you can do it from home without putting up with the unrealistic clinical expectations so many providers have to face daily (as you yourself have had to do in the past).
    Congratulations, and thank you for contributing to the welfare of so many people. ❤
    I'll say it again - you are amazing, you are doing a great job,

    Nurse Liz, I think you are terrific at presenting information and doing it in an entertaining way!
    That said, however... (uh-oh, what's Barb gonna say now??)
    I am no Marjorie Taylor Green, but nor am I feeling like dismissing the 95% of our population that currently is being affected by this disease is a good idea. You didn't mention the most at-risk group until more than halfway through your video!! I sat in a town hall meeting at my prominent pediatric hospital this week and they did not mention once the primary group affected by this disease.
    Look, if this thing were 95% affecting post menopausal women, I would hope that somebody would warn me about it! What I would not want is a bunch of 20 somethings freaking out and queueing up to take a limited vaccine that my middle-aged self needs more!!
    I was a nurse when AIDS first showed up, so I can understand the desire not to shame/ostracize a community or even (like you said, Liz) cause a false sense of security in those outside the current high risk group.
    But when my high school aged stepdaughter is worried about going back to school because she will get monkey pox from someone in the cafeteria, I think we're doing really poor public health education. (She actually did say that).
    Welp, there's my 2 cents. Thank you for what you are doing... truly!

      I understand where you're coming from. I have now added timestamps so if people want to know the most at-risk group, they can find out with the information easier to find. Thank you for sharing your opinion in a kind and positive way!
