I'm watching this video on 14 May 2023 and on the TV in the corner are images if the Eurovision Song Contest. One is trash, the other is art that has stood the test of time.

I‘m amazed about myself, when I saw the year when the song came out : 1967 - may be in Germany some time later.
    It‘s because I I was just 14 at that time.eling
This song went so deep inside me. I still can recall my feelings ed hundreds of then. It was the sadestsong for me and even I listened 100s of times to it I got wet eyes. Every word and every note impressed me . „Have you ever seen …. „
And still now after so many years I have the same feelings

On his window shelf is his album Broken Rainbows. I bought this in 1974 & it is marvelous! I recall “ Handbags & Gladrags” was on it as sort of a bonus track. The single off the album was “ Fuel to burn” which was a good song in itself!

Michael DABO s greatest piece of work along with his wife would have to be the heartbreakingly beautiful actress Olivia dABO. Greedy, Kicking and Screaming 1994 version and The Last Good Time!!! Olivia is a throwback to British actresses of the swinging sixties Julie Christie,Susannah York, Sarah Miles, Sylvia Syms, Janet Munro. Jacqui Bisset all breathtakingly beautiful bu also excellent actors. Some day hopefully the suits in Hollywood real realize just how incredibly talented Olivia dABO is. And no I’m not her agent/ publicist just a fan.

BUDDY: Yes!...Maggie London was 6 years older than Mike, but their daughter Olivia was born on 22 January, 1969....
There's British nobility in the blood, and nowadays Olivia is focusing on her own musical talents...Never forget, however, that she became a stunningly young actress when she was only 14....
      Thanks....

don`t know why manfred mann didn`t record and release this back in the sixties. mike d`abo was lead singer in 1967...the manfreds, ( a more recent version which includes a lot of old mm members), recorded this, with mike singing it, a few years ago..

For my money, the version that really nails the emotion of the song is and will always be Chris Farlowe's. And Mike D'Abo said as much in a interview about 40 years ago. I guess maybe he's changed his mind!..I haven't changed mine, though! Obviously The Stewart and the Stereophonics versions made more money than the Farlowe version, however much more integrity it may have.

1969 Rod Stewart recorded it for the album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down. This version was arranged by Mike d'Abo, also playing piano on the recording. It failed to raise any interest in the U.S.A, but when re-released in 1972, it managed to make Billboard. Introducing it at the 2004 recording of One Night Only, Live at The Albert Hall, Rod asks the audience to recall who had a hit with the song (presumably referring to the Stereophonics version) and claims "I was the first"..OOOPS!
