There are only a handful of songs I can listen to over and over and over again without driving myself insane. This is one of those songs. The mood sits in this perfect little intersection between sadness and happiness. It's amazing that a few layers of simple synth progressions and a drum beat can appear to simultaneously acknowledge a certain longing and desire while also celebrating the drive to keep moving forward in pursuit of those things, no matter how long the journey may take. Just how I feel about it anyway.

I was at a music festival this month, seeing Todd Terje high as fuck on weed and with x in my system. Throughout Todd's entire hour-long performance I was absolutely struck by how music could make me and everyone else in the audience so damn happy. At many points during it, I broke into tears by how beautiful the music sounded, and how it brought everyone together as one. No phones, no aggression, no anger, just pure happiness from everyone. This song was the last one, and during the climax at the end I was just standing there with joyous tears in my eyes at how lucky we are to be able to bear witness to magic such as this. It was the single most profound experience in my life so far. It made me appreciate simply being alive. It doesn't matter how tough things are, as long as we can take the time to enjoy ourselves we will be okay. It's that yin and yang thing everyone talks about :) Peace and love x

The year this came out I was at a huge party new yrs eve here in Melbourne. The DJ packed up near dawn and so some girls put Rhianna on which wasn’t hitting the spot. I took the aux cord and put this on to heaps of cries from all the girls. Very quickly they realized this was a tune. The dance floor went from 10 to 100 people bouncing around with huge smiles again.

The chords are very simple, and the beat isn’t overly complex, but I think that’s part of what lets the melody, (which rhythmically contains tons of great syncopation, and is actually not very simple at all!) shine so brightly. This track is a once-in-a-lifetime piece of ARP2600 genius: not only making tasteful use of many (if not all) of the Arp’s many features in a single track, but carrying with it so much emotion. I doubt in 100 years many other synthesizer-based tunes will ever come close. 🙏
Heard this years ago but forgot it. Heard it again this past summer while raving at 2AM at a beach cove on the island of Bohus Malmon in Sweden while celebrating Midsummer. The DJ was playing in this cove, everyone was dancing, and because it was Midsummer, it was a 2AM sunset. Heard this mintues ago at a local mall shop and instanly shazamed it! Very good!
The chords are very simple, and the beat isn’t overly complex, but I think that’s part of what lets the melody, (which rhythmically contains tons of great syncopation, and is actually not very simple at all!) shine so brightly.
This track is a once-in-a-lifetime piece of ARP2600 genius: not only making tasteful use of many (if not all) of the Arp’s many features in a single track, but carrying with it so much emotion.
I doubt in 100 years many other synthesizer-based tunes will ever come close. 🙏

Heard this years ago but forgot it. Heard it again this past summer while raving at 2AM at a beach cove on the island of Bohus Malmon in Sweden while celebrating Midsummer. The DJ was playing in this cove, everyone was dancing, and because it was Midsummer, it was a 2AM sunset. I'll never forgot looking at the sunset, checking my phone and seeing 2AM, while dancing to this song at full blast. Hard to put the feeling into words. All love though.
