@@kriegstenicht3502 The deck in the intro is the final form of the deck which often goes through changes during the video. I like it as you see where other cards might fit in or where they failed
I may be in the minority but I actually enjoy the longer intros. Explaining the methodology, design philosophy, and gameplan for the decks is hugely valuable, especially when its relatively early in a set. Eager to give this pile a chance. Keep up the great work CGB.
Agreed. I usually put videos on the background (regardless of what I'm watching, really) and often end up tuning out after the first few games. I'm much more interested in the deckbuilding decisions and plans than the actual gameplay most of the time anyway.
Watched the intro, loved the intro. Going into why cards are in the deck, the right way to play them, interactions to be aware of, etc are all very appreciated
Thanks for the shout out bud, your content is cool. That first game man. I literally just played a game this morning where I played tribal against blue white control and drew 12 lands plus non creature spells only and no creature. Insane. Shuffler is fine.
You didn't seem to enjoy the game very much, but I thought that Cankerbloom/Wrenn deck was pretty sweet, and the player played it really well! I was sure they were going to use the Cankerbloom to destroy the Lockdown, but ulting the Wrenn instead was a pretty sick and obviously correct. Props to halpha!
I disagree. The first game was an aggro deck playing super cautiously. The Wrenn deck felt more like a Midrange daleck that is dialed into the Temp Lockdown / boardwipe meta. It probably plays quite a bit differently against the heavy aggro side of the meta.
tbf it was a good deck because it got matched up against CGB's control, any aggro deck would've rolled it. cool concept but hardly works most of the time
I think CGB should have used his multiple Demolition Fields in response to Wrenn's +1 activatons. She can't attack when you keep blowing up the specific lands she's trying to animate. You can't do that after the activation resolves (the land becomes hexproof) but you can do that in response. This could have bought a couple more turns to find the wincons. The opponent was careless about this too: they should have animated only their basic lands because basic lands cannot be blown up by Demolition Field.
Happiest I have seen you since I started watching you years ago. Not a control player. Never been my thing. But I love mtg. And I love seeing happy people playing what brings them joy.
Great intro CGB!! I do enjoy when you go through the decks strategy and then the cool plays that you can make with it. Love UW control. I've enjoyed playing control since the early days back in 96 with Armageddon, Wrath of God and Counter Spells. Was a big fan of Rising Waters from Nemesis. Ah happy days!!!
glad i'm not the only one that noticed farsight ritual or that it's perfectly fine to sac a temp lockdown to it :D , i made similar without the mill strategy (instead was irritate with tokens between fountain and mirrex and anchorage)
I’ve always personally watched your intros, but I will admit I find them much more interesting post rotation than before. Things have changed, and it’s fun to see how you adapt
enjoyed the intro enjoyed the deck hope there will be more cgb after dark i was enjoying waking up and watching an extra video before your daily one come out and i think it was a great spot for brawl content and i really enjoyed the deck building video it actually inspired me to build my own di Vinci deck
Love the longer intro! It’s nice for some commentary on piloting the deck and why things are there. Helps to have those perspectives from the one in best of one.
I do really enjoy the longer into. as I am a newer player, it makes me really happy to get details about the deck tech. ESpecially when it pertains to the meta. thank you.
Thank you CGB, appreciate the longer intros with suggestions on how to make the deck work. I am just a bit confused about the decklist, you are playing with copies of Elspeth’s Smite and Realmbreaker but I don’t see those cards in the “official” decklist. What is the best version to climb on the current meta? The one you’re playing in the videos or the one you posted?
Watched the into. I appreciate the meta commentary, probably more than explaining the cards. I realize that's not exactly possible for a period after a new set but the theory crafting is what keeps me coming back for more CGB.
Listened to the whole intro. Good insight into your deck decisions as always. When watching the first days of the new set and early access I was afraid there were no space for control. Glad to see there is! ❤
thank you CGB for everything you do. Your daily videos are often the highlight of my day and have made me such a better player! keep up the great work. ps: I haven't seen a Sultai build in a while, I'd LOVE to see a Glarb deck from you!
Okay, I gotta thanks CGB for this deck...i have been looking for a deck to get back into mtga...and this has been it. Granted I didn't have the wildcards to complete the deck. I don't have a couple of lands, but a quick edit and I'll be adding those back in as I get the wildcards. So after a year away since I lost my job, and couldn't afford to buy crystals. This has gotten me to Silver 1 in only a handful of hours from bronze...so here's to hoping this deck gets me into mythic for the first time! As a fellow control mage, I love decks and games that make you think, strategize, and adapt. This deck is very flexible!
I watched the intro. I have been a long time tribal player and decided to learn control to polarize and try to break out of gold. Thanks for sharing the list and grinding.
This deck is sweet and you pilot it like a professional! Watching you play has for sure made me a better player in brawl and drafting. Keep up the good work CGB, ignore the “water dumpers” you’re better than that!
Having long Intros or Outros because you talk about Card choices or Meta Developments is a VERY good thing CGB - stop apoligizing whenever these Intros take longer than 1 minute :D Giving People an Insight before you jump into the Gameplay is what makes LVD, HGG or you FAR superior Channels to actually learn new things and it sets you apart from Sonio and the like (which I also enjoy ofc). Since most "strategic" Deckbuilding is generally centered around BO3, your Take on certain Card choices as The One in BO1 is a much more valuable Input than you think - at least in my Opinion^^ This "educational" style of Video is what drew me to the Channel back when I started playing this Game (you were in the midst of your first 1000 Days back then, I think I started playing MTG when you were around ~600) and I love these type of Videos to this day. Please never change, Sensei :)
I will say as a new player i really enjoy intros like this so i can understand more of whats going on. Granted, I can't relate when you use names of cards that have rotated out but it is what it is lol.
Intro watched. Tbh I was one to skip the intro not too long ago but I found a liking in listening to cgb explain the gameplan and the deck so now I stay for the entire time
watched the intro and like the thoughts on blue white/ I was using candy trail, smite and union of the third path. But the issue was always running out of cards and needing more selection in that draw so seeing some of these are good ideas. I cant wait to try this out
1:53 I just realized the art of No More Lies is a dude shining a light down a cave. I play on mobile so that's my excuse for never actually seeing it clearly but I always thought it was just a weird blue flame... 😄
18:55 why not soul partition one of the lockdowns on their end step instead and cast it on our turn? The difference would be to deny them the option to recast the sell-sword, the card draw of ruckus leaving the battlefield and removing the weapon with no drawback compared to exiling the sell sword?
I didnt have enough spellgyres and no way to craft more so i looked for a replacement and found "Out of Air" and it is really cool. 4 mana counter any spell, 2 blue counter a creature spell. surprisingly useful.
Have had a bit of success (and a lot of fun) with Scavenger's Talent and food/forage sacrifice mills. Found the channel only recently, but really enjoying the content, cheers
Watched the intro, also some thoughts I do understand why most content vids are about the set theme, which is tribal aggro, or strong combos. I do like you for putting on answer vids. But i do think that the hyperperfection drive most players exhibit in combination with the very biased content they are consuming lead to a self fullfilling prophecy. For myself i am an oldschool kitchen table house ruling kinda guy with too much time to spare and no kitchen table to game at. So i build my own style decks, which do tend toward what works. But my highest winrate deck pre ootj was ub low tribal faery crtl. Now its ur artifact-pirate midrange by faaaaaar. It trounces most decks and so far got about 40% against ctrl too (the best seems to be uw)
I vastly prefer Brawl content (in general, not just from you) but I was more inclined to watch this because of the longer intro. I’m a big fan of the complexity and in depth explanation of everything involved, thank you for it! I hope these kinds of intros are here to stay (when you’ve time, of course)
I dropped out of mtg for a while and bloomburrow dragged me back. Love the long intro, really curious where the meta goes. I rode callous sellsword prowess to top 1000 for the first time, had a hard time finding anything more reliable so far
Great to see Azorius doing well. First week new meta was demoralising. Just hit mythic in Historic instead. Not interested in making mono red/rakdos and have ptsd from bats taking all my cards. Dont have enough wildcards left to replace all the mana bases i had before rotation - i forgot cappena lands were going lol! Keen for Duskmourn to add some different flavour hopefully!
hey, first time in the channel a part from the arran collab, first thing: you are awesome, thank you for creating amazing content and being a genuinely nice and entertaining person second thing: how many lands do you put in your decks 40? 😭
You should try play the Izzet Synthesizer Battalion combo deck. I destroy both UW control and Boros control with that deck, since they can’t handle the sudden haste constructs from almost no board state.
I'm still using a version of your Dimir Combo Mill deck with Hidetsugu and Breach the Multiverse, I simply love mill as a strategy, it’s my go to modern deck
I’m excited and slightly sad by this. I modified a recent Sonio mill deck and have finally been enjoying mtga again for the first since Bloomburrow release. It’s been working well. This is slightly different so I’m excited about that, but I’m hoping this doesn’t change the meta too much!

i watched the intro
Ok why is the Deck in that Intro different to that you play in the vid?

The deck in the intro is the final form of the deck which often goes through changes during the video.
I like it as you see where other cards might fit in or where they failed
I really enjoyed the longer intro, going deep on the specific card choices vs the present meta is absolutely what I want to hear.
I watched it too! Keep it up CGB!
Me too! I feel like I actually get better when I see these longer explanations
He used to do longer intros and his analytics said people skipped it all the time so he stopped. I prefer it though
I do not, so shû the fcc ûp please
Totally agree. I love insight into the meta.

"This deck is made to fight the deck that had the meta get rid of all mono red decks"......ends up playing all mono red decks.
its so brutal... (T-T)
edit: it is nice to see him battling in mythic though ^-^
"You have never seen magic like this before" sir the number of times I have drawn 6 lands in a fucking row beggars belief.
Same boat same storm pal

16:00 CGB finally playing with the same shuffler the rest of us played with since ~MKM
MKM? Shuffler has been severely broken for years.
listened to the intro, and as a relatively new magician this was really informitive and it helped connect a lot of dots to how this deck can be played

I enjoy the longer intro, the extra info really helps me understand why and how you are playing the cards you picked
Good intro CGB!
Bargaining the Temp lockdown at their end step into either the double Jace or a Sun fall makes sense.
Awesome intro and outro! Another great vid all around.

The blessing of Bloomburrow: not seeing “Memory Deluge” in every standard deck. Great deck and I want to build it because it’s a mill deck.🤣
Watched the intro and enjoyed the extra effort!
I watched the whole intro, I loved the long meta explanation!
That mill makes feel justified to loving your content
