Just wow! Right when I thought I've seen every barrel stove vid on RUclips... Your modifications to move the heat to the front of the stove and your smoke flap are so sensible and well thought out. The oven, plumbing it with a damper, is brilliant. Well done, sir. Well done indeed.
I welded a plate inside my stove all the way from one side to the other, which is about 3" from the top of the stove. It is welded against the back wall all the way to 6" from the front. That forces the flame to the front making it burn more efficient like yours. BUT, I also added a 1" water pipe mounted just under the metal plate all the way from the front to the back of the stove. It has 1/4" holes drilled in it, so it lets the air enter just above the door and burns up the smoke before it goes over the plate (secondary burn) I have little to no smoke coming out the chimney now.
Very nice wood stove project. Now you are really ready for when the power gets out and also when you are working in the shop to keep warm while lunch or dinner is cooking to save your power. Sweet!
Nice project - extremely cost effective and it works everytime - remember to add sand or half-fire bricks inside barrel stove base to extend steel life. Nice oven.... lets make some shop treats... :-)
👍 awesome ideas! This is what I'm planning on building as well but using a 20# propane tank or something like that. Would like to see how you designed the heat control baffle for the oven. But regardless, thanks for the video. Lots of inspiration.
I used stainless so it don't rust inside the baking chamber. Look at my video Barrel oven part 1 and 2 for the build. It showed the inside build and all the parts. It will help. Thanks for stopping by.
"You getta upgrade, you getta upgrade, everybody's gettin' an upgrade. But wait there's more. You can bake cookies, cakes, muffins and even grandma's apple frickin' pie! I'm not done folks. Not only can you do all that but we've even figured out what to do with all those annoying ikea wrenches!" Great mods sir! Does this come in miniature size too? Kinda like the old easy bake ovens? I think you're onto something here. Very smart upgrades.
Huh! I got here first! Congratulations on the "retirement!" I guess that inner screen would get pretty hot... can you weld "NO TOUCH" on the face of it? LOL!

Your one of the innovators that can make your stove better then most. I love it.

Yes With winter coming soon, I needed a place to work during the day. Retired just means the wife wants me out of the house.
Finally a use for those damn Ikea wrenches.

Yes sand and brick were part of the build.
Everybody keeps saying this, when wood ash is the best insulation. My barrel is from 1996.
I never would have thought of this. Thanks for showing me. I'll use this in my design to bake pizza.
Brilliant had all the info needed

Great Video Bob
Thanks for stopping by.
So could the Cooking Pot be easily removed and maybe have a 2nd one with some holes in it for smoking as well maybe?
Well sure you could. This pot is held by a snug fit. But smoking is done with low heat. I guess you could build a small fire with the right wood.
I enjoyed the video. Good job.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It keeps the shop warm this time of year. I can bake as well is a plus.

Awesome . thanks for the video.
Well it works so well and if your heating your shop, its free heat.

Thanks, Well I lost a ton of VDO when my computer crashed. This was in the camera yet. I am working on recovering more.
Still, fun and cool project.
👍👍🔥
shop is a dump !
That is what you get when your brother moves in bringing a full load of his stuff with him. He has a container ordered. I am hopeful.
